New 2015 RS3!!!

In my signature block.....

When I placed my order WBAC.com was offering £26750

I'm on iphone how do I see sig?

S-Tronic | Sepang Blue | Sport Seats Lunar/Black Headlining | Technology Pack High | Mirrors folding/dimming/htd | Extended Mono | Red Calipers | Reversing Camera | Hill Hold Assist |High Beam Assist | Adv Key | £7K miles

I had a low ball offer of £26000 on my S3, but at that it cleared the outstanding finance. I was hoping for a bit more, but that's just one offer and I wasn't in full negotiating mode as I think the sales manager was useless or trying it on. I wasn't ready to make the jump at that moment, and won't if the GMFV he pushed was right because it means they expect the RS3 value to nose dive.

The GFV can be manipulated to suit the deal they want to push. When I bought my S3 the GFV was £17,800. After moaning the figures were just outside my budget they had a box on the finance calculator to adjust the GFV. They did it there and then while I was looking at the screen and magically it jumped to £19,000. Think it was plus / minus up to 8%.

Also don't forget guys, the dealership gets a kickback named as a "renewal" for a customer taking another VWFS finance agreement. It was £1.5k when I got my S3 and they used that to sweeten the deal some more. They were shocked I knew that!!

Nimbus- with you're spec my offer seems about right.

Pulp- think you're right about the renewal thing, that's what I was told today. They are pushing dealers to get renewals.

So an S3 plus around £20k to get a RS3????
Wow, Audi residuals aren't all they are cracked up to be, although that levels out over three/four years and will always appear worse over the first year or two.

Rs3 with sports exhaust ...

I test drove the new RS3 today after much deliberation of what to order out of it and BMW's upcoming M2 and here's what I found.
First off looks, car isn't aggressive enough by a long way, I found the angles awkward and not sure why Audi are still banging along with the rotors that you see on everything from 1.8 diesels to this the top of the range model, the exhausts being oval somehow look out of place on a hot hatch and being fake the smaller real exhaust outlets are easily visible behind.
Interior things start to look up, SS seats look great but don't hold aswell as some of the recaros of rival models, the dash and steering wheel both look great and feel very high quality.
Next was the start up and noise, the engine sounds really gruff and great, the performance exhaust was throaty and almost V8 like.
After driving I found it to be very fast indeed, great grip in and out of corners, but on the limit id say understeer is still there in abundance, most people however won't ever see it driving day to day and if that's what your after then the new RS3 is pretty accomplished.
All in all I found it capable but flawed, not exciting but fast, not good looking but audibly great. A 50/50 sort of car for me.
I think the M2 will get my deposit if it can excite me more than the RS3, BMW obviously don't have the M2 to demonstrate but they let me take the M4 out because the similarities will be pretty obvious and that seemed a better car for a driver by far, also now BMW are doing deals the price of a decent spec M4 and well specced RS3 are extremely close, performance wise the M4 is a big step up according to my VBOX so I'd expect the M2 to be marginally faster than the RS3 in bone dry conditions.
All in all I like the RS3 but it didn't stir me, it is however the best hatch on sale at the moment

You looking to move from the A45 mate?

More and more comments about the standard exhaust not sounding great.

Yet none of the original mark 1 Rs3 owners complained.

So has Audi made the regular mark 2 car less sporty to the mark 1 or is the sports exhaust just so much more of a step up ?

As models evolve and the mainstream models most hot hatches get more refined I think it throws a challenge for the division responsible for the hot/ultimate hatch version.

Looks at most of the latest cars with artificial sound. That's most German cars now. Audi have not gone this route with the RS3 and that probably why the std exhaust sound so dull in comparison to cars with false sound effects.

Come resale I think a car without dynamic pack will be a tough sale. The Mag ride is a step up from the likes of my old TTS's and this car needs aural excitement. I am still very concerned it's a car that is only going to be fun at license losing speeds unlike my S1 and 981S.

I've also come from an A45 and that still has better seats and more aural performance than the RS3, however the engine is flawed and the interior tacky. Be interesting to see what the facelift brings.

For me I went with the mag ride + standard exhaust, knowing that it wont be too loud and the car will remain refined at sensible driving speeds. It also gives me the option of changing it, to something else aftermarket after a bit, in the knowledge that it isn't a sunk cost. I find all these comments about rotors and exhausts in particular a bit strage, as they are the two most changable aftermarket components fitted to a car, and it many cases there is much more aftermarket choice (and occasionally cheaper).

If I preferred the RS3 I was thinking of chopping it in for the RS3 and then getting the M2 as well if not I was just going to keep the A45 and get the M2 anyway, one for a daily and one for a fun summer blaster lol don't get me wrong being around 2 years newer the RS3 Mk2 was always going to progress over my A45 as it should but for the hit I'd take on it if didn't feel it was an enough of an improvement, I also don't think the facelift A45 that will be revealed at goodwood will be as big enough step up either though with a new bumper and another 20bhp and the upcoming A45s will be silly money.

A45 AMG / A class facelift announcement will be at the LA motor show in November.

Its a while off yet as first deliveries are not until Q1 2016.

There is also going to be two states of tune for the AMG as seen in the new C class AMG. Output will only increase if you get the "S" version. The "normal" version will have similar price and bhp as current one. I think the same as you - it will be silly money.....

No, New A45 facelift will debut at Goodwood this thursday. Full press will come next september in Frankfurt.
And first deliveries probably before 2016 (november or december 2015).

Basic version will be most powerful hot hatch again with 380-381PS (although still slower than current RS3).
A45-S version with 400PS, could be very similar or a little faster than RS3.
With better technology (first Merc with Upgraded Command supporting Apple CarPlay...)

Late 2015 or early 2016 M2 is coming, and maybe RS3 Facelift will be sooner than expected merged with A3/S3 early 2016 facelift. Including options like ceramic brakes, bucket seats, MIB-II platform with CarPlay and Android Auto, Virtual Cockpit, Matrix LED, and probably some engine update sharing power numbers with TTRS.

A real buyers market for a45s right now. Were a huge amount of used ones listed online when I checked last. Saw a black one with aero pack yesterday and it looked the business ( personally I do think it looks a bit better than the rs3). However I just didn't gel with it when I drove it, power delivery felt a bit flat and interior was squeaking. The 5 cylinder is a proven engine to me as I've already had it

Agree, the power of the A45 is very deceivingly fast but quite characterless, one thing I'd gripe about with the RS3 mk2 will be that the bulk of the research and development for the engine is done so why the price, would be nice of Audi to say we saved on the engine so here's a grand off list lol
Not sure how anyone can say the facelift A45 will be slower then yeah current RS3 when it isn't out yet but going by VBOX times I've seen the RS3 could well still be faster although it won't be as fast as the A45s that's for sure, times I've seen for both put the RS3 mk2 sort of halfway between the standard A45 and Stage 1 A45.
One thing I would say is BHP isn't everything, the Audi launch control and Quattro aswel as gearbox is a fair bit better than the A45's, it was mercs first hyper hatch attempt and I've got a feeling if they manage to improve the gearbox, 4matic even slightly then it would be massively more capable than it already is even without a BHP hike. My view is as a mainstream hatch ignoring the limited models coming the RS3 will be unsurpassed as a hatch for a while

Debut and official launch are two different events. Sorry confused the both. My Mrs works for Merc hence I know bits.

Going on current Audi model cycles the facelift for the 8V should be announced some time late next year.

8P RS3 started deliveries 18 months before new 8V model launch.

New RS3 announced end of 2014, deliveries summer 2015. It's very reasonable to assume end of 2016 would be facelift time.

Four years seems to be the cycle with Audi going on recent models. Sept 2012 was when the 8V was launched so it will be some time next year. Has to be....

Mercedes-Benz’s current A-Class made its debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, and an updated version of the stylish hatch is due to go on sale in select markets towards the end of this year, the U.S. not being one of them. A formal debut for the updated A-Class range is scheduled for September’s 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show but we’ll get our first look at the car, including its high-performance Mercedes-AMG variant, at the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed kicking off Thursday, June 25.

According to information sourced from the alleged brochure, the new A45 will come in two flavors: a standard model and an S model. Both will run the current model’s turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, but with output registering at 376 horsepower and 395 hp respectively. The current A45 is rated at 355 hp though Mercedes-AMG has said in the past that it wants to offer the most potent hot hatch, and that means dethroning the 362-hp Audi RS 3.

We’ll have all the information later this week so stay tuned.

A3 8V was revealed at Geneva motor show (March 2012). Starting to sell at June 2012 with first deliveries in September.

So on that basis the old RS3 was on sale for circa 12 months before 8V orders / deliveries started.

I'm thinking more about residual value so a facelift doesn't really bother me as the previous RS3 launched at pretty much end of campaign on the 8P and yet even now the residuals are solid.

Audi will most likely increase standard equipment levels at the facelift for all flavours of A3 but that's a good way off for the RS I'm sure.

Flippin 'eck it gets up to them speeds a bit sharpish! It's still accelerating when it hits the limiter. I wonder what the real top speed would be without the 174mph limiter?!

And just think how fast a blue one would be!

286Kph = 177.712mph...... blimey!!

Not sure I would like to drive at that speed on a public road - even in Germany!!!!

You'd be ok. At least in our painted cars we'd have a bit more protection than the Nardo ;-)

Yes they were
Audi initially said 500 for the UK
They then upped it another 250 when the 500 sold out so quick.

So glad I went for the sepang with black wheels now!
