Hi everyone

Need some help regarding service history .

The car is 2008 audi r8 with 20,000 miles .

My question is how many services should it of had by now? Even a rough idea would be a great help.

Thanks

yearly should be 7, longlife it should have had 3.

why people put cars on longlife is beyond me, especially when the mileage isn't being done.

a basic oil change at least every year at a minimum! if the car is on LL then I'd walk away.

I see , I was thinking that it should be every year regardless but forgot about the long life servicing , the car in question has only had 2 services ?

Thanks

so its not even had the minimum LL service, na on a car like that i'd be walking away.

2 oil changes in 7 years, no thanks.

True but one of the big problems with premium quality cars when they go wrong(either through bad luck or poor servicing),is premium quality bills.

Agreed I'd walk if they can afford to buy an r8 they can afford to change the oil every year! When I got my s3 there was a merc v8 kempressor next to mine I was very tempted by it until the sales man told me they had to replace a bush on the back cost £1000!

Thanks for all the help and comments.

So if it was on long life servicing ( I know no one is a fan of that) would that be correct that's it's only had 2 services then? The 3rd one would be when it's 9 years old wouldn't it?

LL should be at least 2yrs, read my post at the start. Walk away, it's a disaster waiting to happen.

Sorry my mistake , I did read it yesterday but had in my head as every 3 years for some reason!

Howdo guys. I achieved my dream of ownership earlier this year. 08 V8 Manual with 21k. (I'll add at this point I'm a garage owner/mechanic) The emphasis on Audi fsh was highlighted prior to purchasing but in hindsight my opinion on this has changed, here's why. An oil change was due so I booked it in (For thedealership rubber stamp) I supplied the genuine parts including oil as I have a VAG trade account. To drain out the old & pour in the new they charged me £450 which when you add the parts is around £570 FOR AN OIL CHANGE. They did nothing else! I asked about axle & transmission oil changes due to the age? Why do you want to do that? It's sealed for life!! This was their answer regarding the fuel filter change as well. You're not supposed to do these tasks, Audi doesn't recognise it in the service plan. Needless to say I'm not going back. I've carried out these other tasks using genuine parts in my own wksp. The car instantly drives so much better as a result.
There appears to me to be an inherent attitude problem, where dealerships steer away from simple tasks & wish to mislead the 'presumed ignorant' owners of such cars into believing their cars are in fact modeled on the 'Space Shuttle' & to that end somehow don't require mandatory service procedures that till now have always been recognised as standard practice.
Over the last few months all the undertrays including sideblades have been removed (for the first time ever) & a bin full of road surface has been removed in the process.
The ******** spin by the main agents nauseated me. From now on my car is being properly looked after & does it ever drive better as a result!

Firstly, I'm pleased that you managed to get an R8, that must be a nice feeling after all your hard work over the years.
Main dealer attitude is shocking though, they just play on the fact, that if it comes back to them with a major fault, it's just money in the bank.

I like the "Space Shuttle" analogy, the majority of missions were perfectly executed but the two that went wrong are the one's that are remembered.
(And look how wrong they went)....!

Absolutely mate, that's exactly it. Wait for some minor component to fail then destroy the unsuspecting customer with a repair bill bigger than 'Ben Hurr'
I take real insult by these dealership policies. I would never treat my customers with such disdain. Unlike some companies I truly value the continued custom of my clients & go to great lengths to discuss educate & advise an individual on the needs of their cars. Preventative maintenance is essential to avoid mechanical failure. This is fundamental to all engineering practice. I'm just happy to work on my own vehicle knowing full well I'm not being tied on time restrictions & outrageous hourly labour rates. I can go the extra mile to provide the attention to detail both my car & my customers cars deserve.
