Hi Guys,

Tried doing a search for a similar thread but had no luck.

Anyway, I have an A3 8P with the cursed engine code of BXE. As you may or may not know, this engine code is well known for having the conrod go through the engine. And today, going down the M4 i found out first hand what this feels like (scary). Only 96K on the clock...

Anyway, my more to the point. I need a new engine now as this engine is ruined. Rather than limiting my market to only 1.9TDIs, i would be happy to open the market up to 2.0L. Only thing is, I do not know if it is just a simple swap from a 1.9 to 2.0.

Does anyone know what engine codes would fit inside a A3 8P 2007 1.9TDI BXE chasis? I know that any A3 8P engine will fit as it's the same chasis, but will i also need to swap other parts out?

Would appreciate any help on this as i am currently without a car. I live in the South Wales area if anyone knows any local engine sellers.

Kind Regards,

Chris

No idea if it would work or not but a 3.0tdi would be immense (in theory it should work as you can get a 3.2 petrol A3)

Not really helpful but maybe given you an idea :)

Can you not claim off the insurance mate? Seems a little pointless you paying for a new engine and the hastle etc on a 2007 plate?

I always thought insurance was just for accidents and theft? I am fully comp with Admiral, if that is the case i suppose i could give it a go

I have no idea tbh mate but I would defiantly give them a call?

I doubt it would fit as diesel engines tend to be bigger and heavier than petrol ones. Also, he would need to change intercooler (if he manages to fit it inside), all the back pipes to fit 6 cylinders, etc. Would be fun to see someone do this though! :)

As for going over to 2.0TDI, list of changes will be bigger than with any 1.9.

Engine code BKC will fit in with no issues at all.

It's what i did. I should of updated the thread to be honest. BKC is alot more reliable...can't find no issues online as opposed to pages and pages of faults for BXE

The fact that I can find a bxc engine closer to me and cheaper than the shamed bxe engine is an added bonus :)
