managed to get 160mph - the car was steady as a rock but didn't seem to want go faster (neither did I)!

Yeah, it's a 155mph limit not indicated 155mph. On the S3 it seems to be 167mph indicated is the best you'll see in ideal conditions.

I've had 163mph showing on the digital speedo and it would of still kept going.

Just as an aside does anyone know how to remove the limit I've googled this but couldn't find it. I'm guessing it's coded in the ECU software ? As we know with RS models there's an option to remove this when purchasing the car.

I had the limiter removed via remap on my 8p S3, not sure if that is the only way or if it can be done via vcds?

Don't think it can be done with VCDS but probably not much to gain from limiter removal unless remapping anyway.

I've just read on the bbc news website that the driver of an r8 has been fined 11 grand for doing 101 in a 70!!!

Just seen that too. Silly of him to try and bribe the coppers then deny he was doing above 70

I think the MTM box removes the speed limit but haven't tried yet....

I've managed 147mph on the digital speedo in my a3 1.8tfsi. On private roads of course.
Actual speed will always differ.

I'm assuming the Apr or revo software will remove the limiters but let's be honest, it's no different. Not many roads where you won't run out of room faster than you'll hit top speed

A speeding driver has to pay £11,000 for challenging his ticket after a prosecution expert hired an airfield and a sports car to prove him wrong.

David Pickup, 45, was clocked doing 101mph in his Audi R8 on the A55 at Lloc in Flintshire in April 2014.

Flintshire Magistrates' Court heard a police speed camera caught him and he asked officers: "Can we call it 98?".

Pickup, from Wilmslow, Cheshire, who has a holiday home in Abersoch, Gwynedd, was convicted of speeding.

He denied breaking the 70mph speed limit and said that a number of people from Cheshire had second homes in Abersoch, which he called a millionaire's paradise.

The defence questioned the accuracy of the in-car police speed camera so the prosecution hired an expert who rented an airfield and an Audi R8 to carry out tests, the results of which were presented to the court.

Pickup was fined £675, given six points on his licence and ordered to pay the full prosecution costs - which included the testing - of £10,384.

Come on guys, private road my ****!
There's few places in private hands that you can get a car flat out, there really isnt any need to get the limiter removed. Even if you drive in Germany most of the Autobahns have limits and I;ve found most unlimited ones have too much traffic, although there is the opportunity. But even then 155mph is quick enough.

Ditto here. Penalty for 50 km/h or 30 mph over the limit = Car impounded at roadside for 7 days, driver's license suspended up to 2-10 years, $2000-$10000 fine, up to 6 months in jail. People still risk it though

If people want more, people will get more.
Just cause standard speed is enough for you doesn't mean it's enough for someone else

There are places you can do this. But they are rare granted.

I have near me a part time RAF airfield that is closed to fixed wing aircraft but has the occasional Apache there. It still has a runway which they use to practice air drops etc.

It's open to the public a lot of the time for glider and RC model aeroplane clubs and is now my place of choice to show off and have some fun with LC. I have also done 150 mph on the runway but the noise of stones and debris hitting the wheel arch liners made me back off!

Too precious about the wheels and paint LOL

I go on holiday to Germany several times a year and there are still a lot of stretches of Autobahn with not speed limit. The best time to drive on them is early on a Sunday morning as lorries are not aloud on the roads on Sundays. I usually go to and come home on a Sunday and once in Germany have driven some long stretches at around 120-130 mph without any problems and that is a GPS 120-130 and not what is indicated on the speedo. Mine over reads by around 10%. Quite often I can be doing 120 and I'm being passed by cars doing a awful lot more.

157 on an extremely private autobahn in a land where speed limits are non existent... supremely steady and quiet too. Loved the fact it changed into 6th at 138mph :jump:

I live in Germany and i can say there is ampel stretches of motorway with no speed limit, there is also a sort of unwritten etiquette code of conduct in that people just move over as soon as they see someone belting up behind them, u never get some idiot sat in the fast lane refusing to move over.

Indicated 160MPH on my 2014 SS3 and as you say it was absolutely rock steady, surprised me as my current RS4 does not feel as good at that speed, my RS3 when it arrives in Dec will have the 155 limiter removed by Audi :)

I have had 171mph on the digital speedo where it was legal to do so, and that's with a tuning box. It was me that backed off and not the car, which still had more to give. S3

I've seen 168mph with me having to back off due to sighting another car ahead. That's with an MTM M-Cantronic fitted which removes the limiter. A repeat run without it fitted saw 163mph and the car hits an artificial wall which I assume is the limiter as the car was pulling until that speed. All performed on an unrestricted road!

Thanks for the confirmation MTM box removes the speed limit... Haven't tried this yet with mine :)
