I was looking in the how-to section, looking to see if there'd already been a particular how-to made, and if there hadn't, I was going to add one. All I saw are posts of people asking how to do something.
Is there a section anywhere where there are actual how-to guides, instead of people posting the wrong thing in the wrong place?

The how-to in question that I was going to do, was how to remove the rear seats, the very rear boot sides where the Haldex ECU and the Bose amplifier is located, and the back plastic panel in the boot, and the boot lid inside panels, all on an A3/S3.
I'd took mine out for something, but took pictures upon refitting.

Sometimes people just not sure where to post something. I will take a look through it. If you have a guide to share with others, post it in the faqs thread of the relevant section. Thank you. :) x

The section could do with a proper sort-out. The intention *was* for it to be somewhere for people to post HOWTOs - in the linux sense of the word; but it seems not everybody grasps that.

I've not poked-around in there lately, but I dare say there aren't many actual HOWTOs in amongst the n00b-nuggets; which might mean it's fairly easy to move them out and drop the rest. How would we feel about that section being actively-moderated? i.e. New Threads not appearing unless they're verified by a Mod? It makes it a bit more clumsy, but perhaps would get it back on track as the area it was supposed to be?

this has always ****** me off and now that I have seen this thread and have gone back to look at the sub-section of the forum I find my self even more riled by it all. Isn't the purpose of that forum obvious? Instead its been ruined by people asking questions which should be asked in the relevant section pertaining to the car in question. There are 3 threads on the first page (not including the stickies) that I would consider to be correctly posted - the rest is crap and makes the section a waste of time deterring me from ever visiting it

I would delete all the crap out of it and keep the genuine useful/helpful threads that are correctly posted and then write in even bigger letters that its the HOW TO section and then deploy a moderator to that section with a noob gun or a big stick to beat them over the head with

maybe it the 'general techincal' that misleading people in that sub-forum.

there are probably more car related 'How To' threads in the Forum How To sub-forum than in the technical how to forum

give me the stick ill be happy to sort them out :asskicking:

heads up; somebody has posted a 'How to Guide' in the 'How to Guide' section - do we award free AS.N stickers for this sort of behaviour?

We could but the people who actually pay for the stickers never get them without trouble so imagine giveaway ones ?

yes good idea - it seems that we now even have site sponsors posting adverts in there now
