ye I was gutted when I bought my ds2500 pads and fitted them no better than normal braking even with LCR Brembos. my fiancée Astra brakes better lol.

so next pads Im finding hard to pick for my daily around town car, only ones Iv thought of so far are the ds3000s

I thought DS2500 pads were good once fully broken in ?? There is a recommended break in procedure to bed them in properly.

ds2500's are fine but S3 are heavy and if a very heavy brake user you will overheat them.
Thats why pads such as these are rated for their operating temps.. If ds2500's dont suit your driving style, the DS3000's are the next ones up, or perhaps the newer DS1.11 like tufftys chucked in his recently.

Thanks for all the mixed comments on the DS2500. As much as i value everyone's views, I have to try them for myself and see if i like them. As Bill said, it all dependent on each persons individual driving style.

Now just waiting for my rebuilt Brembo calipers to be delivered back to me.....

I got them done at Brake Caliper Specialists in Long Eaton. Wasn't cheap by any means but as good if not better than new with 4 years warranty.

i have the ebc yellow with some brembos 18z and it feels great. Cold feeling is like stock but when it gets warm....oh boy it brakes

So.... a few little updates for you all.

Firstly, team stack gauges arrived for myself and @S3_Olly

Next up is a my custom column pod for my Stack gauge to go in....

This is an OEM S3 column cover that has been modified into a gauge holder:

Some goodies arrived from @badger5 and other performance part suppliers

Phenolic intake gasket
BMC 80mm Twincone filter
EGT Boss for my new custom downpipe
Braided lines for my Brembo calipers

Forge Supersize DV - Purchased from Amber Performance on eBay.
Titanium exhaust heatwrap for my custom downpipe - Forgot where from.

Next up are my new Bosch 750cc fuel injectors with correct plugs to be swapped over for direct fitment onto S3 / 1.8T

The bigger injectors are required for the increased power i am wanting so ensuring it has enough fuel flow is imperative.

Lastly, one of the more exciting updates some of you will have been waiting for is my custom AMW Motorsport manifold.

I have now got it back from Zircotec and it has been fitted to my replacement engine.... I will let the pics speak for themselves

It is indeed, I'm proud to be saying im the only one who will be running this manifold....custom one off for mine.

Hats off to my mate at AMW Motorsport as this started as a crazy idea in his head, transferred into reality. Knowledge and skillbase is second to none. The manifold was fully designed and manufactured by himself. I only went in for a better quality manifold to mate with a K04..... lol.

Cannot wait to see wether it has all been worth it on mapping day!

I must admit, the manifold is certainly a work of art...as most people have said.

Lets hope the core function of the manifold and coating will be just as good as it looks.

Truth be known...i actually don't know yet lol.

The ceramic coating looks great and has a function that most people overlook when doing bigger turbo conversions...

The fundamental issue is the location and the heat generated....exaggerated with bigger turbo applications, so i am trying my best to reduce heat and protect other components where possible.

Although ceramic coating is not necessarily required, it does play a vital role in reducing heat and contributes to the extra heatshielding required in bigger turbo applications.

The custom downpipe unfortunately will not be ceramic coated due to the costs involved and turnaround time. So i have opted to wrap the downpipe with titanium exhaust wrap to further reduce heat radiation. Won't look as pretty as the manifold but is a little further hidden and again will hopefully do its job more effectively.

That's a good idea, I'm not very up to date with the thermo dynamics of it all, but the heat shield should provide enough protection, and it can't be seen anyway so it won't matter as much aesthetically. If I do ever get to do a big turbo build, I will be looking at this for inspiration, the metal work alone in the custom manifold is amazing, and the icing on the tubular cake is the ceramic coating!

Engine should be going in as we speak onto the Vibratechnics engine mounts, then the production of the custom downpipe can begin.

I may take some pics of engine in situ as another taster and maybe some of the downpipe being made...
