Someone on the Mercedes Benz forum spotted this on their way to work in Chelmsford. It's stirring up a bit of a conversation, but obviously for different reasons.

1.8 tfsi or tsi are not common hence the low complaint figures on 8p models.Sorry yes, I meant 'weren't'. There seem to be a few other threads on here regarding faults on the 1.8's as well. Is the piston ring design different?
Now about to pick up the car from Audi so will see what they say, I highly doubt they are going to give any sort of goodwill apart from maybe a free tin of sweets...
I just noticed that the A5 was parked directly opposite an Audi dealership.Brilliant!

A shortened version of my previous time lapse with an Audi Q5 receiving new pistons and conrods for excessive oil consumption
I feel for you, if bought from a dealer I would drive it straight back and get your money back.Just bought a 2010 Avant black edition Quattro 2.0 TFSI two weeks ago, done 40K. So wish I'd done a bit more research first!! Had Audi diesels for the last 10 years.
I've done about 600 miles so far and I reckon it's used approx 0.75L, so I guess it's touch and go whether it's over the offical limit. Bought a litre of oil today so I'll wait until the oil warning comes on, fill it up and go from there.
Worse thing is it hasn't got full Audi service history as the last one was done at a 'specialist'. Plan was to get it into Audi in a few weeks time for a check over.
So looks like I might be screwed if it has an issue....

If the used vehicle is faulty, you have a short time after buying it to reject it. You may have other remedies such as repair or replacement. If the vehicle is faulty then you need to write to trader you bought it from. You should confirm the details of your complaint and the remedy you are seeking and keep copies of all correspondence. As a last resort, you may need to consider taking court action. Remember, used vehicles may have some faults, but they should not be excessive. Fair wear and tear is not considered to be a fault.
don't see what's brilliant about it, guy's an obvious ar$ehole as far as i'm concerned. apparently Audi offered to fully fix for free so what's his agenda? wanting £9k in his pocket it seems?Brilliant!
