Hello,

As most of you are probably aware I am currently waiting for the correct S-Tronic car to arrive around May time.
Currently driving round in the Manual sepang blue that arrived instead of the correct S-Tronic.

So after seeing more and more pictures of Riviera blue I have really fallen in love with that colour.
I feel like I have been and done that with Sepang now, still a great colour mind you, I just want something different. Sepang seems to be getting a bit common.
I am debating whether to cancel that order and re order in Riviera Blue.

The questions I have got are:

Would you pay the extra for a "special" colour?

Anyone know how to work out, or the correct formula to find out what it would roughly add to the monthly payments on a 4 year PCP?

How will it affect the value of the car come resale time?

Anyone know the rough waiting time to have one in Riviera blue?

I haven't got round to emailing the dealer yet, having some issues with our emails, will hopefully get round to sending them an email later on to find out the above, but suspect I won't hear anything until some point tomorrow afternoon so the more I can find out now may even save me sending an email if I decide against it.

Thank you

Great colour but must be a special = £'s + long wait?

Go for it! :thumbs up:

My all time fave Audi colour :jump:

BUT would I pay £2k+ for it? Sorry no, but if I had the £ to spend yes yes and more yes :D

Should be more pics of the colour here -

Definitely looks better on a saloon. Saw it on a SB and it just made it look very aftermarket/kit car.

On the saloon it looks ace.

I prefer the Sepang but all down to personal preference. I hate waiting too so that would bug me.

The colour is nice but I wouldn't pay the £££££ for it.

Also, what's going on with Audi ordering all the wrong specs!?

Go for it! I would have a mental colour if it was a 2nd car or could garage mine each night. I waited 5 months for my exclusive, it's now another 5 months wait for the re-order. Be aware once an exclusive order is placed you can't change anything, even on a code 10! Tried to do it and Audi UK said no.

If I could have stretched the extra 2k, I'd have had this colour in a heartbeat.

Do it! There was one for sale on piston heads a while ago with black pack and look beautiful.

Yep roughly 6 months wait it will be for me, ordering early dec and scheduled for late May.

As naughts says once the order is done, nothing can be changed due it being exclusive order and specific to that person.

So make sure it's what you want :)

You'd probably be looking at about £20 - £22 per month extra for every £1000 added to a 4 year pcp.

Anyone know the exact cost of the colour? Is it bang on £2k or are we talking more?

Do you think it will increase the value/desirability on the second hand market?

It's a gorgeous colour, however I am still undecided if it's worth the cash. All depends on what it will do to the second hand value and how much extra it will work out at per month.

If you're hoping for the car in May, I would think you need to get your skates on re. changeing spec. I would think the BW is pretty soon.
I'm not sure if the colour is worth 2K myself, but it would be nice to be exclusive I suppose (which Sepang is definitely not now!!)

I am not sure of this is the correct way of working it out.

£2000 less the 12.5% discount I negotiated = £1750

£1750 divided by 48 = £36.46
But that doesn't take into consideration the APR.

In think you have to account for an inflation in the balloon payment as well?

Everyone's financial situation is different. But if you can afford it, Yes. :thumbs up:

Rather than reorder have it wrapped in riviera blue then when you've had enough you can just remove it, cost is around 1500/1600 and the wrap looks just as good as the paint

Really? I've always imagined (with no actual basis) that wraps would look rubbish.

Check this guy out, he does some amazing wraps. I've seen one of the cars he did up close (Brown Lambo Aventador) and it certainly didn't look rubbish! The colour is a bit marmite but the quality of the work looked awesome.

I have thought about a wrap, but I don't really like the thought of my brand new car getting pulled to bits to do a neat job of the wrap.

Also having never seen a wrapped car up close I am a bit dubious about the quality.

But I'm not sure that is right either, because you are talking about PCP, so you are not going to pay it all back over the 4 years (or maybe they will insist that you do). Of course, yes, you need to consider the interest. Also, can you be sure that the dealer would extend the discount to the extra option cost?
There's so many variables that the only way to find out is to ask the dealer.

Right though I'd add my input as I also have a colour from the awesome Porsche range.

Would I pay the extra, yes every single time and I plan on doing so. There are some awesome colours around and over my lifetime ( always going to buy new now ) I want to have something different every time. Not just custom / exclusive as some standard colours I really like ( the blue on RSQ3, Samoa orange, etc. Just nothing on the S3 took my fancy.

I never asked the dealer the price without the paint, as without having that colour there would not be a new car in my life.

Resale, I'd expect to kiss your £2,500 goodbye - colours like that are individual and very bespoke. Not many people would drive around in a Porsche viper green / riviera blue car. My thinking is live for now and try not to worry about it. On the flip side you may find someone that really wants something different and is prepared to pay for it, just don't bank on it.

Wait time, looking at 7 months for exclusive / custom builds.

Well documented on here but I ordered exclusive Java Green and then swapped to Porsche Viper Green. Luckily I was allowed to by the dealer and wasn't charged for it.

I also changed my spec a lot after ordering, only element you can't change is the paint. I added ACC and quite a few more options after initially ordering it.

Hope this helps.

I changed plenty, just colour was locked in my instance.

@Kimmy.E - think you should go for it (although it's not cheap), but respect your desire to have something different second time around where you have now had Sepang. I applaud it even!

I agree like many other ASN members that variety is the spice of life. I dearly wanted another colour other than Amalfi seeing as our last car (A1) was that colour too.

However, Mrs Pulp took control of that decision where I choose the model and spec. That was the deal........I am very envious a lot of the time of people's colour choices on ASN!!! :(

These 2 are similar to Java and Audi exclusive magnetic blue (from the club sport)

The thought about having the car pulled apart, badges removed, lights out etc would be enough to put me off this. Having seen the wrapping places around my area I would never leave my 300ps car with them for 5 minutes let alone a day or so. Xtreme wraps used to drag race customers cars up and down the business park until they moved, put me right off.

I also don't even let Audi take door cards off if they don't have to, my window regulators were replaced last year on my TT and it had to go back 3 times to fix a tiny rattle that appeared in the drivers door, that's how anal I am about perfection.

Go for the paint! It's exclusive for a reason, and the price is there to keep it that way. I ordered the paint because I wanted the colour, couldn't care less about residual as I plan to keep the car for years. I also do 4k a year so when I do come to sell, it will probably be a 5/6 year old S3 with around 30k on the clock. Someone will probably pay more for the fact it's such low mileage, than the paint colour.

I have just read that the RS3 is on sale very soon with a price tag of just under £40k. That has put a whole new spanner in the works!!

I really don't know what to do now!
The 3 things going through my head are:
Wait for the S-Tronic sepang blue to arrive and be happy with that.

Re-order same spec in Riviera blue

Or cancel altogether and order a RS3.

If only the correct gearbox had arrived in the first place I would have been very happy and content with what I had and wouldn't be having all these second thoughts!! Maybe the wrong gearbox arrived for a reason!

Does anyone know when the RS3 will be on the configurator?

Need to decide sharpish what to do.

Those searches are so far off its untrue lol

It's the lighting they are a match when up against a genuine riviera blue car
And that is by 3m

The second swatches are by hexis

And I'm a qualified wrapper so trained to use hexis and 3m

They're just idiots I personally treat anyone's car like my own I xo know ppl like that though a local garage was launching an rs6 trying to show off, lunched a gearbox and then pulled it onto the ramp, apparently they told the customer it just didn't work when they came to move it so charged him for the repair which is absolutely shocking! When it comes to taking cars apart we take the badges mirrors and handles off never had a complaint or a rattle and worked on more expensive cars than the s3 that's for both detailing and wrapping

Given your "replacement" S3 will arrive quicker than either a cancelled order or an RS3, I'm not sure that the dealer will be too accommodating regards you continuing to use the non S-tronic for an extended period. Also even though you should be able to order an RS3 soon, deliveries won't start until September earliest, and I think each dealer will only get a max quota of 3.
