What have you done to your 8V today?

Gave the car a good de tar, iron x, clay, polish and wax. I also re wrapped my wing mirrors slightly darker. Year old tomorrow as well :(

Surely not all in one day!

Surely not all in one day!

Ai! 6 hours worth of work. It's by no means a full detail. I didn't use my rotary either. All done by hand. Wash followed by Iron X and tardis, they work pretty quickly and Instead of normal clay I've been using a clay cloth and it speeds the process up so much! Wash the car again to remove any left overs. Then a once over with Super Resin Polish, followed by one layer of Vic's concours. Tyre gel and polish the exhausts. What with all the winter driving the paint felt a bit sand papery.
I'll give it a full 2 day detail probably in May ready for summer :)

Vinyl wrapped my chrome grill surround today. Very pleased with the results.

Pics tomorrow.

Fair play, I'm waiting for good weather to do mine. Can't wait crack out the DA again haha

Quick wash and dry this morning but its very windy, noticing some very light swirls now too. My partner got me a clay bar for christmas but I think I really need somewhere indoors to do a proper detail...

It looks identical but had a little play first opportunity since collection on Tuesday. Managed to sort out Audi Connect using an EE SIM card, updated sat nav maps to the latest version and made a few VCDS tweaks enabled oil temp in trip computer display and DRL on/off in MMI.

Went to morrisions to clean it and lost count of the amount of funny looks I got having 2 buckets and a mit.

My springs have been on for over a week now so should have fully settled, gave the car a quick wash and decided to re-wrap my wing mirrors in carbon fibre black. It was the right decision I think! Really goes well with my alloys :) Took some pics:

Looks fantastic, liking the mirror caps. Tempted.....

Whilst still attached mate, over wrap the mirror along the plastic and cut along the grooves with a Stanley blade

Convoyed to Crail, threw her up the strip a few times, grinned like a goon then came home...away to take my daughter out now for a couple of launches as she would have loved it today but had tickets for disney on ice lol

Thanks. How did you handle the groove along the top where the colour coded part meets the black plastic? Looks like a tricky area?

It is a bit tricky! The tip is to do that part of the mirror first, heat the vinyl and use a credit card / squeegee to mould the vinyl into the crevice. Then use cold air to dry it. Then just carry on with the rest of the mirror as normal . Once complete run the Stanley blade across the plastic and it cuts it out lovely. Took me a few attempts so be sure to buy extra vinyl.

Sweet - thanks for the tip.
I'll be giving this a go tomorrow. Already done the grill and considering the window surrounds too.

Mine is Glacier white, so any gaps will show up.

Ooh have you really? I was debating doing my grill and window surrounds. Can you post up some pics please. Yeah it's a ******! Red shows through as well if it's not right. A few times I'd over cut the vinyl and it meant starting again . persistence is key

Grill looks fantastic! How was that to do? Fiddly I imagine

Yeah mate, quite tricky. It's a big piece of vinyl to be working with from the off. Made further tricky by the fact the chrome surround sits so close to the bodywork. Had to use the Stanley blade to tuck it in the sides.

First time in 8 years of driving I've had a puncture and the tyres are < 3 months old. Grr! I get to drive around looking like a fool until Tuesday now and £97 lighter on the wallet

On the bright side least you can admire how good the new alloys look in comparison. Lol.

Taken it for a nice 'speedy' drive through the country lanes in the sunshine enjoying every minute of it and thinking how lucky I am to be retired, to be able to afford to drive a 184ps/320Nm quattro s-tronic A3 and to drive it during the day when the lanes in particular are very quiet. No passengers, no phone, no radio just me and the car enjoying the driving. Sheer enjoyment.

drove the S3 across to creepy Crawley very slowly as had the mother in the car, on the way back home the local do-good'ers were out fortunately I wasn't driving like I would've done if I were on my own !

On another note day 2 and 200 miles down taken it to the redline more times than I can count - run in period meh :moa:!

Dam man that looks almost deliberate.
Don't see many of them lying around!

On the plus side at least it's in the middle of the tyre which is very repairable.

I know! I'll just leave it as a weird casuality. Got it fixed today for 10€.
Hope it didnt mess the balance of the wheel as it was a kind of a big patch inside...

Tested out my new Nilfisk E145.3 pressure washer and new Clb Candy Fluff Snow Foam. Then gave it a quick once over by hand using Autoglym bodywork shampoo conditioner.

I'm happy with the results :)

The wax on the car is Farecla G3 Super Gloss Paste bought from Halfrauds ;)
