Sheridan's S3

As soon as i posted that reply i figured it out haha... im such a tool.

I think loba will be my choice. I will speak with my garage when it comes to fitting and see which he wants me to do. He is very enthusiastic to make this car faster ( i know more £££s for him )

But i actually cant find a single garage who would like to fit and performence parts around my area without asking me "why the **** do you want to do that, its stupid ! "
Martin @ Unit 20 can do all of your tuning and fitting as can Riverside Racing over in Speke, they're the two i would recommend around here, bonus of RSR is that they have a Dyno! Ill send you a PM!

Stunning looking S3, love the colour and what a spec!

In terms of tuning, Awesome are good for supplying some of the hardware but for mapping it could be worth getting in touch with Rick @ Unicorn (site sponsor on here) as he will do a custom map opposed to an off the shelf one. Based in Manchester too so not far from Awesome at all. However that being said a fair few people do run APR so it's really just personal preference.

Thanks very much man :)

I will certainly look into it, im open to anyone. Although saying this i womt be touching a stage 2+ map until ive got a uprated clutch on it .

Im certainly not risking it hahah

Demon Tweeks are OK for buying bits and pieces from, like things that aren't easy to find elsewhere, and motorsport related stuff like dashloggers, but tuning....I don't know.

Was just thinking as its only a hour away

I've bought things like seats and so on from them, but tend to look there and compare before buying, because as you say, they aren't cheap, and sometimes aren't lower than MRP.

few little updates

My reg has appeared on the car... Looks like an actual 4x4 in this pic. it doesnt usually look that high

I have had put a set of heko's on too. But havent got any pics. Usually ive never thought much of the fit of hekos but these are so so solid on compared to previous pairs ive had for the corsa's!

Should have a few more little updates this month then moving on to bigger and more interesting things :)

No idea if anyones interested but heres my little project when im not spending time and money on the audi

Copied this progress from another forum. so here it is from the start as it goes along

Sooooo nearly had the car two years.
Quite frankly im sick of it and want a new car but wont happen until about next april :( But then again i did initially guesstimate next summer.

Therefore instead of wasting money on polishing the ****.
I cam across this badboy

BBS GTR3 18" ET50 rim with Dunlop race tire that was raced on a porsche in Lemans and won its category, included in the sale was paperwork to prove and a pic of the Porsche it was on.
The plan is to incorporate this into a small glass table :)
10338299_10152157171012106_7236141431282689276_n_zps9d1ecdea.jpg

I bought it from a very wealthy chap who buys out Motorsport teams and sells on the bits and bobs. This happened to be one of the spare wheels in a package he bought.
In his man cave he had all sorts, memorabilia, bonno's old roller, simon cowells SL55 AMG and a few escort MK1's in concourse condition.

First of all a refurb will be needed, im looking to have it back to something like this. With the help of ultimawhistler
A nice polished dish, gold face and have the drum in either black or anthra
681331d1353340234-964-bbs-picture-thread-e28.jpg

Within the refurb I will be renewing
*The bolts. Cant decide if i want to go for chrome or gold :\
*Valve sleeve with a s****y BBS dustcap
*Replace the original decals with same OEM ones. - Already Purchased.
*Gold BBS decal n the outter drum the drum with the help of crazygeodiegirl
*Perhaps a Porsche decal on the other side of the drum :shrug1:

The chap was a little gutted that I was planning on refurbishing it, as the rim had history and was on a good friends car.

In terms of construction of the table. I haven't got that far yet. I know if i was to just use the rim it wouldn't be very high, i have been suggested sourcing a radinox dish.
But im on a bit of a budget and im already spending a fair few £££'s on this and i'd like to keep the original main bits of the rim.

I reckon I will just raise the rim from the bottom with no adjustment and source someone locally to cut a nice side piece of glass :)
table1.jpg

Although im unsure whether i should just have glass on the inner of the rim leaving the surface for beverages and snacks a lot smaller than having it sitting on top of the rim.

Love to hear your thoughts on this :)

So the wheel arrived with ultima whistler about a week ago :)
Soon as he got it there he started taking it apart.
Heres some pics.

Thats it for the time being. But i believe he has located a company in Germany who sell the original gold paint for this rim, so this is being sourced :)

ultima stripped the gold :(

Here's some history of the car this wheel used to belong too

I got a email today from the chap i bought the wheel off. He had got this letter from SKEA International who raced the prsche on the BBS
Please ignore the dodgy upload
SkealettertoMark_zpsa2a76261.jpg

After finding out the race team and the chassis number I was able to track the car rather easily

You've got a lovely refurb job going there, but I can sort of see why the seller was a bit gutted.

I'd have been inclined to clean it,but not refurb it,and go for the history, but whichever way,it's a great souvenir and will get people talking.

Cheers Alex.

I can understand the seller too. But if you had met this guy and seen his mancave/office above his garage you can see he had plenty of money to store and make it into a table himself.( he had planned on doing the same) the heritage doesn't mean alot to me as i had never heard of anything to do with it apart from lemans 24.

I suppoose cleaning would have have been a good shout. The wheel was in a real state. But afterall all im doing is actually refurbing it back to its fromer glory. Ive used original paint, shined the rim up, restored the original bolts and got the original stickers for the dish. So i suppose it is my way of keeping it original ;)

I cant wait to get it back :) havent seen it in about 4-6 months. Ive left it with my bodywork guy as a weekend project for little money :p

Dewipered with a screw in bung. Not overly keen on the bung. think i will order a glass one in time.
Got a number plate light kit off @t8ups ,Icant recommend him enough for great service and quality product :applaus:

Only problem i have is i cant get the boot lining back on perfectly, One of the corners stick out and for the life of me i cant get it back flush.
Any advice/tips? I'm going to have another try tomorrow !

Cheers Chaps

Found a footwell leak this morning. Went straight to the garage who specialises in vag. Believe the scuttle panels clogged with leafs so its getting sorted later this week :)

Happy belated christmas

Santa AKA my girlfreind was generous enough to get me a Gopro like every other man and their dog had this year, along with some goodies for the car :)
I have some s3 etched glass decals for my wingmirrors and a quattro grill badge to fit, but I will wait to get my RS3 grill in before fitting :)

I havent mastered video on it yet. I need an external mic as all im really getting is loads of wind noise.
But for now here's some pics over the last few days :)

After gaining some inspiration from @jacko_s3 progress thread. I decided to wrap my pillars gloss black. When i started on the first one it looked really really bad like dripping paint. I took it off only to find the wrap had taken the paint off the pillar to my suprise.
10688de5d1b0ef7c7c80d97c5474bc7f.jpg

Looks alot worse than it is. I started picking it with my finger and i can get the reminant of flakes off.
Think ill actually get a proffesional to wrap it too :p

Nothing much happened recently
But I had my 21st the other day and my girlfriend was a legend and bought me a RS3 grill and she had bought me the quattro badge a while back !

Soon as the weather gets a bit nicer (April time) im going to get the car in somewhere for a full paint correction.
once ive got my holiday spending money all sorted it will get a bit more interesting :)

In the meantime im just looking forward to go down to ultimate dubs this year and not get stared at like an asboloute freak like last year in my corsa hahah

Any normal pics of that front end without the squashed look lol?

Car looks spot on, rare to see in that colour!

One thing i don't like is the plates, I'm all for a plain back and standard text

Quite like the quattro badge you have on the front, looks different

Keep it up !

Thank you !
One main thing that i loved was the colour as well, i had originally planned for a in your face colour.
But i won't lie i've fallen for this shade of grey !

Fair enough man, they are a standard text but for some reason look rather bold.

Glad you like the quattro badge. I had someone on another forum tell me today that my car shouldn't have it on as its not a true quattro and the vw haldex system is *****, and to add that my car now looks chavvy :jump:

This may sound absoloutley ridiculous

are the oil caps meant to split in half ? (Outter casing away from the inner cap)
i highly doubt they do, seems abit silly as the bottom part was still stuck in the engine when trying to remove the cap to top it up.

If not has anyone got any experience with the £6 caps off ebay. I dont usually do things on the cheap with this car but i dont see the point of spending silly money on a silly piece of plastic that looks no better.

Cheers

Coming along nicely mate. I wish I had this good of a motor at 21! Bit unsure of the quattro badge on the grill tbh...kinda 50/50 leaning towards no. I can also understand the chav comments, but its a very fine line with Audis I think. I think you could maybe replace that gromit on the rear window for a smaller one, or a glass one like you said.

Not a fan of the instagram sticker at all mate sorry, bit too "scene" that for me and takes away from the class of car in my humble opinion.

Thanks for the comments.

To make you even more sick i got this at 20 haha. Im very lucky to be in a half decent financial position to have been able to save for it.
The quattro badge is certainly a marmite mod.

I keep meaning to replace that grommet, but lazyness has kicked in hah.

I had a new windscreen in january and the insta sticker went with it - RIP hah

Very nice looking motor. Love the colour!

Just wondering how much you paid for the RS3 grill and where you had it from if you don't mind me asking?

The RS3 grill makes a big difference! How is the plate attached to the grill, cant see any holder/surround? The paint correction looks like its paid off big time as well

Looking good buddy, I'd personally lose the quattro badge and the plate and see how long it lasted :whistle2:

Cheers man !
it was a gift for my birthday from my girlfriend, but i actually ordered it on her behalf as she woiukd have had no idea hah
It was from a seller called xenonz uk, really quick service and the quality of the grill is great.
it was £229 if i remember correctly. just make sure your careful when you buy you choose the correct colour for the badge and grill.
i sort if rushed it, then realised i made a mistake. but by that point the grill had been shipped and a additional £6 for the right set of rings for the grill.

It does indeed :) I love it ! Look so so aggressive over the original grill!
most people cable tie the plate on, i wanted a clean look.
so i cut down the plate surround so it would just hold my shortened plate, Then attached it with the one plastic screw still present and then made holes in the surround to attach cable ties either end for extra support :)

I'm dead pleased with the correction. the colour is a lot purer when looking at it in the flesh!
and its a but of an incentive to keep the car clean now hah

Looking good buddy, I'd personally lose the quattro badge and the plate and see how long it lasted :whistle2:

cheers ben !
Wouldn't last long, i quite like the look of it.
And i don't think the fuzz would like it to much round my way sadly.

Thats a good idea! I have the same grill and my plate currently resides in window :angrymod:
Its the shortened plate that make it look so much better i think!

I think so too , from my experience of plates in windows they just rattle like **** and send me west in the process.
for £20 you can get a shortened pressed plate on fleabay or probably less for a standard one.

just get it done, its a no brainer :)

came across these pics of the car while it was at the valetors.

Thank you :)

I've noiticed its a little bit out.

I've been rather quiet recently, because nothing has happened due to a big holiday

When I get home I'll be going in the garage for a new uprated sachs clutch and OEM flywheel

http://www.clutchstop.co.uk/products/02q-sachs-performance-sre-3-piece-clutch-kit.html

I'm trying to decide on a exhaust.

It will more then likely be a non res millitek setup. The problem I've got is im not really the most knowledgeable guy with exhausts.

What exactly do I need for stage 2+ , Could someone show me?

Cheers in advance

what do you mean by show me?
for stage 2+ you need:
turbo back exhaust (actually it's the downpipe that's required) - milltek, bcs...
cold air intake - revo, itg, mtc, forge...
high pressure fuel pump - autotech internals, apr, loba, hpa....
and a remap
optional:
rs4 fuel pressure regulator
intercooler
