So i've got myself a new key on ebay. The auction says the key comes with a transponder, the invoice says it doesnt, so i'm wanting to take the front part of the key apart and see if theres a transponder in there.

Anyone know how it comes apart?

I've prized out the Audi rings and removed the screw, but i cant seem to get the two halves to come apart!

I've also tried to get my head round the programming for the remote rear fob. I only have one key atm, and the remote appears to have stopped working.

It appears i need two keys for the car to program the new fob, one for the ignition and one to lock the door? Anyone done it with one key?

Cheers
Kev

once screw is out you need to force it open, it just clips together

remote programming can be done with vagcom otherwise you need one key to turn ign on and a second to turn drivers lock so you'llneed a second blade cutting

if you only have one key be carefull taking transponder out, its glued in and easy to break

Just had the hassle myself wih getting a spare key
i used my swiss knife to split keyfob to get access to transponder

You can get a keyblade cut off ebay cost me £7 del
then that will give you the second key to program your fobs easy to do guides on here

if you didnt get a blank transponder with your key get one off ebay £6 del
get vag tacho for your pin/skc code and to program your new key.
Try not to remove your transponder if its your only one, as i broke the old one getting it out unless you have to.

Hi there. Griswold. What was your outcome since you broke the only chip you had. I have done the same thing i broke my transponder chip while I was trying to remove it from the old key to move it to the new fob replacement that i had ordered as i received only one key with my audi a3 1.8t sport ( 8L chasis ) please help

It's only a 5 year old thread.

I broke mine when transferring it.

Vagtacho off ebay and a new transponder sorted it out.
