My 2015 Sepang Blue 8V S3

How does changing the suspension and wheel affect magnetic ride and TPMS?

It's interesting to note the little differences in other markets. You have the high-res screen from the Tech Pack but your MMI buttons are black rather than the silver we get here :)

huh?

I'm seeing the 4 silver MMI buttons in the photos!

Any rubbing on those 20s or is it looking good?

All good. Actually fitted 5mm spacers today to get the wheels more flush. My feeling is that a 20 x 8.5J ET35 on a lowered S3 will be the perfect fit.

Is 8.5j the maximum you can go on the S3? I've got a set of 19" speedline split rims from my TT which are slightly wider at 19 x 9 with ET52. Currently got 255 35 19 R's on and I have a hunch they may be too wide... Your 20's look superb, really making me love those rims and I'm very tempted but I've only just spent the best part of £500 on a full refurbishment of my split rims and would really like to use them. If I used spacers would there be simply too much rim out of the arch?

I would try them out to be honest. With ET52, you should have room to play

Speechless. Which H&R's did you have fitted? 28826-2?

Beautiful wheels. Your car is making me consider gettings 20s over 19s now.
How does drive/handle ?
Do you find yourself driving more cautiously?

and any rubbing with the spacers fitted?

Hey guys,

Apologies for the delayed response. No rubbing whatsoever on the car. She feels seriously planted now.

Now for the interesting part...

I removed the 5mm spacers and fitted 10mm H&R spacers in the rears and 8mm H&R spacers up front. Car looks insane and guess what? No rubbing! That takes the ET on the rear to ET30 and the front to ET32! That's just insane!

Attaboy. Looks ridiculously sick. Nicest S3 by a long shot. Wheels look spot on. Also looks like u got a few more mm left too.
Any 3/4 pics from a far? would like to see the cars "presence on the road"/ stance

So no fender mods (no tab removal, no fender roll ) whatsoever ? How low are you on those coils btw? between top of tire and fender, is there even one finger gap?
im soooo glad u did this, cause i was losing sleep over whether a 19x9.5 ET32 would require crazy fender mods and cause performance probs.

But your making it really really hard to not go for 20s. Can you still drive the car aggressively? How badly do the 20inch rims affect performance compared to18s ? esp since the CH-Rs are quite a heavy wheel

Sorry soo many questions, but everytime i look at your car, i ask myself why the hell am i considering 19s and not 20s.

I'm feeling more confident that my 19 x 9J ET52 speedlines will fit now.... just is that 255 width would squeeze under or not... Will be having the centres re-painted but here they are on my old TT.

Amazing love the mods.

Can I check do you have magnetic ride and if so has the ride quality been affected much by the H&R lowering springs?

Thanks dude ;)

I'll need to snap up more pics. How far back do you want me to snap them? Front and rear?

No fender mods whatsoever dude. This is why I was shocked at the fact that I could fit 10mm at the rear. Truth be told, there's space up front so I'm going to fit those 10mm upfront and remove the 8mm. I reckon I could squeeze a finger in there if that. This H&R lowering kit is perfect and has saved me forking out loads on a coilover kit. It's the perfect ride height without compromising the ride quality. Bear in mind, my wheel is 8.5J vs your 9.5J. That could change things I'm sure?

Car feels perfectly fine with the 20s dude. Doesn't feel any different over the stock peelers. I can drive the car aggressively without any issue at all.

Didn't opt for magnetic ride. Ride quality is perfect. I was expecting it to be harsh but none of that. If anything, the 20"wheels with low profile types would be the reason for any uncomfortableness lol

That last pic really needs to go in the Derrière thread!! lol.. Really nice car, alloys are absolutely stunning on. :thumbs up:

Car looks fantastic. its amazing how 1cm can make the car look that much more aggressive. I think the car is perfect now. I love how the wheels accentuate the fenders even more now.

The wheels im considering are 19x8.5+32 in the front, and 19x9.5+35 in the rear. the rears will poke out only 7mm more than your current set up, and the fronts would be poke out less.
however your pics and comments are just making me want to say f*** it and go with 20s. Its too bad that BBS CH-R dont have many sizes. they have a 20x9.0+25, but i think that woud be too much.

Tbh the look (in terms of poke) im trying to going for is something this:
8587664994_7ea3e028a2_h.jpg

8587424406_acdea7b429_b.jpg

This car is slammed on air, but at drive height i think it looks good, i like how there is a little bit of poke, but nothing extreme
His wheels are 19x9+41, which i guess is aggressive for a 8P, but he is running a 215/35/19 tire and I'm not comfortable with that tire setup with the way i drive.

Your set up is the most aggressive one ive seen so far (apart from this guy in japan who is running a 19x10.5+35 on his rear, but he pulled his fender out 15mm, in order to tuck)

after writing this i figured i should started a new thread not to thread jack urs. But again your car is the shiznit

a 19X9+51 wheel will be recessed 14.7 mm more than Rabit222s current setup and only.
But with the 9+51 id be more concerned about hitting the strut/brake.

only one way to find out. Test fit

This will all be found out in March! Thanks for the advice, fingers crossed it doesn't hit the strut / brake.

Over the top! I was thinking about those wheels before I've seen this thread.
H&R Springs and Spacer look great too!

Your baby is beautiful! ^ :thumbs up:

Sexy
From that photo though It seems like u still got some more wiggle room in the rear. ;)

Looks really nice, I think some drilled discs, even if just for show would look good on it.

Milltek catback fitted (resonated) I love how boomy this exhaust sounds!
