Imola Yellow Audi S3 - APR - TTE420 - Audi Tuner Featured April '16

Good work tackling the inlet valves.

I've got loads of pics of mine in various states of clean and filthy, and I'm hoping that the new vent-to-atmosphere breather system deals with this problem for once and for all.

Finally got round to uploading my power run graph from Unicorn.

Thought Revo stage 2 was over 310?

Rick at Unicorn advised most estimated BHP from tuners are exaggerated. He said stage 1/2 are pretty much the same map (2 being just for CEL delete) and anywhere near 300 is good. It would get more with a HPFP as we all know fueling isn't up to scratch when these cars are mapped hence why 2+ gets you nearly 360 BHP.

Noticed the idle was ever so erratic, visually inspected then removed it and upgraded to the latest R revision.

The latest revision R is designed differently to the revision F.

Has anyone got the part number for revision R PCV for the S3?

Whilst I was on track at Audi Driver International I took some readings using the Torque Pro app on my phone.

The car was pulling air mass of 250 g/s which roughly equates to 312 BHP.

The car ran well at Castle Combe. The brakes only faded once on standard setup. My front end grip was hindered by only having 3mm tread up front, but still felt like it was on rails. Thoroughly enjoyed the two sessions I had.

Got round to customising the OEM engine cover I purchased off eBay for £20. Keeping my original engine cover as its in mint condition.

I'm really keen to keep the OEM cover after fitting the CAI, are you able to give a little more detail on what needs cutting and what tools you used to do this? Did you follow a guide or can you describe what to do?
Cheers

Next time I take the cover off I'll take some pictures.

Received some new parts this week in preparation for upgrading to Revo Stage 2+.

Autotech HPFP internal parts from @LVS Racing
06D 109 309C Cam Follower
WHT005184 O-Ring Seal
079 130 757 RS4 fuel valve

I had this afternoon spare so cracked on changing the fuel valve for the RS4 version.
I had a guide to follow as well as a new set of crows feet, although it could be possible with bending spanners.
Changing the fuel valve took about an hour it was fiddly but got there in the end.

The next task was to replace the cam follower and upgrade the HPFP internals.
Removing the HPFP was fairly easy although the rubber fuel pipe was a pain due to the spring clips being in awkward positions.
Carefully removed the HPFP and cam follower and inspected it for wear. The cam lobe didn't have an scoring, and the old follower shown little wear.
I dipped the new follower in some oil and gently pushed it in to its hole.
I followed a guide to change the HPFP internals, this was fairly straight forward but does require a 18mm deep socket, and out of my 1 million piece Halfords Pro set I didn't have, got all other sizes how annoying.
Luckily a neighbour was on hand to lend me his to save me a visit to the shop with little sun light left.
The upgrade was complete and refitting the HPFP was just a reverse of removal.Everything tightened up, plugs reconnected, and a quick prime and ignition to check for leaks. All OK.
I haven't been for a blast yet as it was rush hour heading home and I need to lower my Revo settings to less than 9.
Over the weekend I'll be visiting my local Revo dealer and getting upgrade to stage 2+ then will do some logs to check the timing and fuelling settings are correct.

Coming along nicely! Hey you dont happen to have a part number for that revised PCV by any chance?

Great read, let us know how nice 2+ is and still standard clutch ?

Haven't managed to get booked in at Revo for my stage 2+ got to wait until one day this week.
Used my Revo SPS to set the B8 T5 F5 until I get it upgraded.

Today went over to Evo Triangle and around mid Wales to test the new fuel upgrades. Even on stage 2 the uprated parts make a difference down in the mid range. Can't wait to feel the difference of 2+.

Wow, Revo stage 2+ upgrade done.
Firstly the tuner set the settings as B6 T5 F9, which I knew was not right but didn't want to act like I knew more than him so just paid and left.

Got home and changed it to B8 T5 F6 and what a difference it makes.
The car wants to launch itself forward with so much force it feels the front wheels want to lift of the ground.

On full boost hitting the limiter the exhaust farts like a DSG gear change (mines manual). Can't wait for a dry day to give it a proper good drive.

How long will I last until I need a TTE420?
Bigger house deposit or better turbo?

Love it when the front lifts, hold on and enjoy.

TTE420 all the way, good progress

Did a nice subtle upgrade to the B pillar covers as one had been scratched by previous owner. I looked in to buying the proper black edition pillar covers but though I'd give vinyl wrapping a go first. If the wrapping deteriorates I'll just buy the proper ones but thought I'd give it a go.

Took about an hour in total.
Drilled out the rivets, cleaned the covers, vinyl wrapped them, riveted them back on, and waxed.

def cheaper than new ones I have done one but not the other seems to have done ok but winter will be the test for them.

That's my test, if they survive winter will leave it as is, if they deteriorate then I'll just buy the proper ones.

Some absolute scum bag stole my near side wing mirror clean off its mounting. This happened right outside my mums over night, and didn't hear a thing.
Royally ****** off as they aren't cheap to replace. Audi charge £360 for brand new parts per side, and second hand are hard to source for pre-facelift.
After browsing eBay I came across a facelift pair which I won for £285, so decided to upgrade them both. These are pretty much a plug and play fit.
I read a few guides and noticed as these have built in indicators I would have a spare wire that isn't connected in the door module (pin 13).
As a temporary work around I have run a wire from the existing wing indicators to pin 13 until I upgrade the door modules to the the facelift versions.
Over all not a bad little upgrade that gives it that beefier facelift look.

nice job on the upgrade, shame it was because some low life decided they didn't want to work and pay for the wing mirror like the rest of us...

Been a few months since my last update which is mainly down to buying a house.
I have been running the tyres tread down on the Rotors so I can finish them off at Oulton Park on 31st March.
I recently kerbed them too which annoyed me as they will now need refurbing ready for spring and summer.
I had 4 new Goodyear Eagle F1's fitted to my original S3 wheels whilst I use the Rotors on track then have them refurbished.
Next plans are uprated clutch, and new LUK flyhweel, hopefully end of this month.

Since owning the car nearly 18 months, chasing down bigger cars, doing nearly 18k miles the front of my car has earned some stone chips.
I had read about a product called Chipex on several websites all highly recommending it as remedy for stone chips.
Now I am usually very dubious about stone chip repairs, as the best method is a respray but with my car being imola yellow it can be a pain to match so I would only ever be happy with a full car spray.

I purchased the Chipex Road Rash kit and supplied them my paint code and awaited it's arrival in the post.
Today I washed the car and set myself the task of trying out this kit. The kit is easy to use and took me less than an hour.
I took before and after pictures, and I can honestly say I am amazed at the results.

Over the past week I spent some money on the S3.
The clutch was slipping from 4th on wards when booting it so the time was right for a new uprated clutch.
I went with the Helix uprated clutch kit from AwesomeGTI and the necessary extras like LUK DMF and slave cylinder.
I decided on this clutch after speaking with Mark Ash and having a go in his car which had one fitted.
The pedal feel is slightly heavy but after a few miles driving its not much heavier than stock.
The car now pulls so strongly all the way through the rev range. Its like a different car.

I changed my front pads and discs too for Brembo OE equivalents due to getting big brake judder and the pads rattling loads under heavy braking.
I didn't go for an up rated setup as I have my eye on a TTRS setup.

This should see me through spring and summer until my house purchase goes through.

I did plenty of research finding which uprated clutch was best and most people choose Sachs or Helix.
Awesome GTI sell both. Don't forget to budget a new LUK DMF.
