[Oct 19, 2014] Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Event #14 - Whitby (North Yorkshire)

Good evening folks....

Do we have any other members wishing to join this road trip and a day out around Whitby?

According to the Met Office, this Sunday for Whitby it's forecasted Cloudy with a top temperature of 17degrees.

The whole North Yorkshire region forecast is also Cloudy. Hopefully some Sun will appear.

Nevertheless, always prepare yourself for any changes.

I see someone has posted a thread on the Audi SRS Forum about this meet so more cars may turn up than expected.

Another call for any Yorkshire and Humberside Region members to join along...

Only 2 days to go... Time to clean the motor and fill up the tank... Lol

Shauns bedside table....

Just so no-one does as Shaun! Can you confirm if this is 10:00 meet at Malton and leave at 10:45 and not 09:00 for 10:00 as previously mentioned at the start of this thread?
If it is the 10am start then I shall be arriving at this time with SmokeyMike around this time. Otherwise we will need to revise our departure time if it is still the 09:00 meet up!

Yes the meeting time for Malton is 10:00am. Leaving at 10:45 to Whitby.

Good Morning,

Meeting Point for members to convoy upto Whitby is the following:

Malton Industrial Park
Seven St
Malton
North Yorkshire YO17 6YA

Meeting Time: 10:00am

Leaving Time: 10:45am

From the above location we will convoy up the A169 upto Whitby. The journey according to Google Maps will take us 60mins (Arriving in Whitby before or around 12:00).

At the moment, we are suggesting to park in The Abbey Headland Car Park (Abbey Lane, Whitby, YO22 4JT). This car park should accommodate all vehicles attending. However due to the location of the car park and the walk into Whitby Town Centre there is the challenging walk up and down the numerous stairs. Should any members, have any difficulties walking up or down the stairs or suggest any better suitable car park, please feel free to discuss.

Regards,
Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Team
Please see the above for details for tomorrows meet, and not as stated in the 1st post.

Regards,
Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Team

Mike....

It was great to meet you and your wife. Nice to see new faces.

Yes it was a great day out. The drive through the scenic parts of the North Yorkshire Moors was amazing. That's one of my favourite routes.
Although it was a few hours in Whitby, it was lovely to stretch the feet and enjoy some fish and chips.
The whether just about held off apart from the gusty wind.
Apologies for my directions but we managed to get there in the end.
Good to see some familiar faces again and nice to see a little one joining in on the fun. It's not just about the cars at these meets but it's to create a great community for members to enjoy.

Great little pub and a drink to finish off the day was much needed.

Hopefully we'll organise another costal trip within the first half of 2015.

A big Thank You to all those who turned up.

Yep, another enjoyable meet, glad I was able to attend. Anyone who didn't missed out on a good day
Good to see new and old faces.
Even the missus enjoyed herself but was sick of car talk by the end... Haha

Nice drive, good weather (for October) tasty fish and chips and a quiet drink to finish.
Probably a good thing there weren't more cars, car park was full enough at the pub!

Look forward to the next one :)

Also enjoyed today. The extended route added to the enjoyment of the day. It seemed very atmospheric driving with the Autum leaves swirling around the roadside which got me thinking.... It would have been good if we could have filmed the trip.... Maybe something for the future?

I will make sure I post my pictures in the next few days as soon as I get rid of that flipping Range Rover from the shots!

Whilst everyone was talking about cleaning/detailing their cars in the pub, I was trying to find the following article, which I have now found after getting home and using a proper tablet device - http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/domestic-flash-for-cleaning-alloy-wheels.228114/

I now feel as tired as Shaun did this morning from his 6AM alarm call......:icon thumright:

Firstly im glad all of you enjoyed yourselves on the drive out, I'm sorry I couldn't make it I had to quickly rectify my car for yesterday which sadly failed the MOT on some things at the end of last week! All sorted and passed now though :D wooohooooo...

John if I had been able to have made it the trip would have got filmed due to my new trusty gadget... But maybe next time eyyy?
