Hi

Probably another silly question- sorry!

Got the tech pack (not with connect), phonebox and I've got wifi coming up in my car.

The wifi is coming up as Audi52008 but I don't know what the password is to connect to it- can anyone help with the following:
- the default pw or where I can find it?
- what does this apparent wifi do ?

The glove box dosent have sim input not sure what this is- any help or pointers would be greatly received.

Many thanks
Ross

I think if you have Tech Pack no connect, you need the Audi Streaming App to stream music via WiFi to the MMI.

Without Connect, the MMI won't create a WiFi Hotspot.

Okeydoke- odd you can see the wifi but can't connect...really wierd.

My Tech pack wifi will connect to my xperia z, but for some reason it wanted me to plug the phone in via usb to the mmi and I had to turn on media sharing in the options on the phone. Once I'd done this, it allowed me to browse all media files on the phone and play them if they were compatible. It carried on doing this after I'd unplugged it, so definitely not connected through ami.
I have an iphone 5 as well though that doesn't want to connect either by ami or wifi.
I should add, I don't have connect, it DOES create a hotspot.

I think you guys are confusing the wifi with audi connect.

The wifi password can be set in the MMI on the telephone sub menu as can the SSID (the name of the wifi). However, to actually get any internet you'll need to plug in a SIM card which should be in the glovebox.

For MMI stuff you need to connect via the audi MMI connector for full features, or via Bluetooth for basic streaming.

Once connected you can set the audi to fill its hard drive with the music, meaning it will then work without connection.

By hotspot I mean a WiFi DHCP server which will then enable tethering via 3G or LTE to the outside world.

If you don't have Connect, there is no SIM slot, so no 3G or LTE and no tethering to the outside world.

If you have Tech Pack without connect - you need to download the Audi Stream App on your phone or iPod to make use of the WiFi connection to stream music, via WiFi, to the MMI.

Bluetooth Streaming is in addition to this feature, as is connecting via AMI cable. These 2 things are completely different to WiFi streaming,

Thanks for all the comments...I'll get the app and give it a go tomorrow.

I'm still confused to what wifi comes up, and ultimately if it's only for streaming music to the benefit over bluetooth- is it just because this connection allows you to save music on the jukebox?

Also, does the app remove the need to enter a pw into the app...as I don't know what this is?

Cheers

Thanks for the clarification guys. I've downloaded mmi connect app and music stream to my iphone so I'll give it a go. Interestingly, the iphone app thinks I've got an a3 limousine ambition clean diesel.

Hi guys,
I've recently bought the S3 and I have the Tech Pack but no Audi Connect or Sim Card slot (not available in Australia for this model apparently). I can see that there is a wifi network being broadcast by the car and I've tried connecting to this with the password provided but it doesn't accept it.
I've managed to fool the Google play store into thinking I'm in Europe in order to download the Audi Music Stream App but it doesn't connect to the MMI. Am I supposed to put the password into the App somewhere?

Any info would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Don't worry - I worked it out. For some reason I had to change the password it gave me ( 8 zero's) and then it connected and found all the music etc. Like the person above - I'm a happy boy now too!
