Alex's 1.9 TDI A3

Love this mate, detailed pics is good for future reference.

Where/what are you connecting the wires the v2 needs to?

It's very simple mate, you have 2 wires ( + - ) which you run to the battery then another wire which runs to a ignition source I.e goes to the fuse box by steering wheel/dash.

Wow that's nice, are the coilovers for sell :whip:

They will be for sale yes mate :)

I've installed all the wiring, compressor, tank and the rear bags but ran out of time :( but I'm getting the car in work this Saturday so everything's easier as I can get it on a ramp to instal the front bags and run the air lines so all will be done this weakend! :)

Fitted the front bags today, everything is complete now  :blackrs4:

Looks brilliant, top work doing it all yourself as well.

Looks good mate
I am also from Birmingham, where abouts are you?

As mentioned before i think the rear rings + spoiler along with window tints would look class.

Also was the rear s3 valance a straight fit onto the s line rear bumper or did it require modding?

I live by Coleshill/furnace end? What about you?

I'm gonna get the spoiler eventually dunno about rings and tints yet haha.

Yea it's a straight fit :)

Oh ok not too far, Im in ward end, near stechford. 5min away from BP clock garage

Yeah spoiler would look good
And tints really do set the car off.

Also would you happen to know what year the s line rear bumper was from that you bought?

You need the pre 2008 s line bumper and s3 lower valence, they just clip into each other.

Oh ok great stuff

Would that be same case for a sportback (5dr)?

Or would you need a facelift rear bumper 2008+ and the sportback rear s3 valance?

Haven't been on here in ages! But I'm still alive and so is the a3.

The car hasn't really changed much other than I have new wheels and this weekend I have and still am doing a couple of mechanical things such as new cam cover seal and turbo (dreaded police car noise). I was gonna get a egr blank for this weekend but left it to late to order.

Thew weeks back had a photo shoot with a new and upcoming group of lads called "Fast Photography" and must say some of the pics came out great.

Oh and the new wheels are 3sdm 0.04 18x8.5 front 18x9.5 rear.

So that's what it currently looks like:)

And the turbo out but the exhaust gasket decided to have a fight with my thumb and little finger but they lost:(

Image

Once I removed the turbo I was expecting the impellers to have play but they're both stiff as the new turbo but I do know that the noise is caused by an internal bearing (well that's what I was told).

Whilst I had the inlet manifold off I decided to buy some Mr muscle oven cleaner and leave it to soak and it works really well.

Image

I'll post a picture later of the inside of the manifold but I haven't got a before picture unfortunately.

Today I will be fitting the new turbo (if the rain stops) so hopefully all goes well

New wheels look much better! Well done on finding a sline front bumper too...i can't find a complete one for love or money.

My A3 8P 1.9tdi had a conrod through the block on Thursday (96k milea)...my engine code was BXE, apparently it's very common for the conrod to go through a BXE. Just bought a BKC with less mileage.

Cheers:) and I got lucky as I had someone message me as they knew I was looking for one and they was upgrading there front end to a rs3 or s3 can't remember, but I got the whole bumper with grill, fogs, fog grills and the U.S plate blank only thing was I had to get it painted as it was previously red.

My engine is a BXE also but I'm on 122k and I only read up on the Conrod issue last week! Abit nervous but I do maintain her well being a mechanic/technician by trade. I herd it was a bad batch of engines but I'd like to know the vin range of all the BXE's that have kicked a leg out the bed. I also herd that the BXE has thinner conrods compared to all the other engines so you replacing yours with a BKC is a good shout.

You lucky man! I got the most recent sline rear bumper and diffuser, will have to get my exhaust done as the newer bumper is alot bigger than the sport so you can't see exhaust anymore lol. Would love to get the front bumper sourced though, it will complete the conversion then.

Yeah i treat my car like a God in terms of maintenance, but it still went :( looking forward to getting the BKC now as it has only got 55K on it, hoping the Turbo won't whistle on this new one too haha. I am thinking of upgrading my turbo in the future, what one did you go for? my only concern is the clutch, as i hear that they can't tolerate 150+BHP

I'll have to try get the VIN code for you again as the car is down the garage atm

I'm liking the new wheels, they look quite classy! I like the rest of the work you have done too, good stuff.

I just went for a reconditioned turbo which cost me £282 and I did all the work myself so no labour :) but I was in 2 minds to get a hybrid turbo but then it's just more money and I might as well just buy a quicker car. If I was to go hybrid I'd go pd130/150 injectors, custom map and upgraded clutch and then you'd be pushing 200BHP+.

Anyways here's my inlet manifold which is 10x better than before, no black sludge etc and cars feels a lot smoother

Image

One thing I've noticed since I've fitted the new turbo is that it's abit more laggy and doesn't feel as responsive at times but my old turbo was over boosting Looking to get a remap next week tho.

Yesterday was a headache as smashed my sump and had a nice oil leak. I was very lucky as I had to pop into work and found the leak when I got there.
Image

I rolled the car forward and then took the picture and you can see the oil trail haha. I got the car on the ramp, drained the oil, cleaned the erea and used some putty weld paste but only as a temporary fix as I couldn't get a sump from anywhere and have to wait till next week to get one. Must say it hasn't leaked any oil since and I've done at least 80 mile since.

I drive my car ridiculously low and I don't wanna raise my ride height so I'm gonna get a custom sump guard made up soon.

I'm liking the new wheels, they look quite classy! I like the rest of the work you have done too, good stuff.
Thanks mate and the wheels just look smart and not to much in your face which I love.

just hit my sump and the AA put putty on it to seal for the time being! my car isn't even lowered! Have you got a sump guard mate? I may look in to doing this. Do let me know how it's going!

I haven't got a sump guard unfortunately but may look into one but I've been alright so far.

Haven't been on here in a while but I've still got the Audi. Here's as couple of photos from a local meet called dub club.
