Right update time. I know it has been a while but had a lot of things going on with the track day and having a week "holiday"
So the week before we are due to be away and we had brake line problems due to old ones being seized on.
At this point the car was looking like this. With no seats or front end on.
So through the week we put new brake line on and seats in only to find the harnesses we had were not good at all didn't clip in. (EBay knock offs)
4 days so the weekend before we were going away I took the afternoon off and made the shifter raising blocks and fitted the new better harnesses that I had ordered.
That evening Tim and I got the rest of the front end together ready to test it later that night.
Whilst putting the wider tyres on we discovered we needed spacers so quick ordered those in the view that dad was coming over a day later so could bring them with him if they didn't arrive on time and we would just drive down on standard wheels and tyres.
So we got it on the ground all excited filled it up with fluid bled the system with issues started her up only to find the brake master cylinder had **** itself.
So we turned in for the night.
We worked on it over the weekend finishing off bits and pieces waiting on the new master cylinder to arrive that was ordered from Lucas over here.
New master cylinder arrived on the Tuesday but it was wrong so a few quick phone calls around and luckily the only place on the island to have one was our friendly local skoda garage. So at half 4 dad was off to get that whilst I tackled taking the old one off. Not as easy as expected.
Long story short at 3 in the morning (on the day we were due to be on the boat at 11.30) finally had the new one on bled it all with easy bleed bled the clutch again and took it for a spin.
All was looking hopefully brakes were a bit spongy but could sort that out we thought.
Swapped so Tim could drive and the clutch started to change the way it felt and eventually started running away with him. Something not right here. We were playing with it until 4.30 then decided we would call it quits.
Next day we had to make the decision this car was not safe to take and I had run out of energy. So we changed the boats to next day and took my mum's skoda yeti instead.
Anyway the track day itself was good. We still had my dad's Fisher fury. (see hill climb videos) and my girlfriend's polo gti with a set of kumho track tyres. This went a lot better then we thought.
There was just one thing missing which would have been great.
There were some very quick m3s running slicks there along with a few Porsches (one of which ended up picking gravel out of every orifice in the afternoon probably because he had been overtaken by a polo in the morning) some Honda s2000s with stupid loud exhausts, a couple of rally mk2 escorts and a few other cars like a fwd tt and a twingo.
But that's about it. I only got back yesterday so mission fix Audi commences tomorrow. I'm gagging to drive it again. And luckily a few of the skoda garage guys said they will come down and lend a hand because they want so see this car go.
