Hello,

I found a thread the other day about this but couldn't find it again today.

Can somebody tell me if the 8V 3 door rear bumper will fit on the 8P?

The sportline with separate diffusers seem to be an utter nightmare to find on ebay, they've either 8V or they're not the ones with separate diffuser lower (or you cant tell if its for a sportsback or 3 door)

Thanks in advance
Alex

Audi are officially gay haha! why cant they make things simpler ...I mean cheaper and easier to manufacture and allow more interchangeable parts!?

A bit of investigation would tell you that the 8P platform has been around for 10 years, with most parts on the 8P A3 models interchangable on the platform with some limitations between 3dr and 5dr. This means it's pretty simple to take a bog-standard A3 and retrofit it to be an S3 or RS3 within the 8P family. Of course, a single platform can't continue forever, so moving to the MQB platform for the 8V represented the first major shift in the A3 platform for 10 years.

You wanting to put parts from one platform on to a previous generation, and a general lack of understanding is the real problem. Not Audi being "officially gay".

Yeh, because they're going to make a brand new model and use parts off the last model that's been around for around 10 years.....

ok, bad example....B6 and B7 A4, ones single stage airbag and one is twin stage, B7 front bumper and 8P front bumper, ok it's a bigger car but you cant swap them because the headlights are different... you cant swap to the mfsw in the 8P a3 from the pre facelift because if you do then your forced to violently headbutt the steering wheel because the airbags arn't interchangeable - I've had an accident where I ended up headbutting the steering wheel, it wasn't very nice now and still isn't nice over a year after

Another example is the rear bumper on the early 8P that is in two pieces, you cant fit the lower from the S-line two piece bumper unless you tie-wrap it on!?

Am I allowed to call some of these issues gay?

I'm definitely not a civil human being :p but I will take your reply on-board!
