Great choices! I have the Sportback, so unable to spec 19's and didn't want the mag ride but apart from that, and the black interior I have exactly the same option.

No nav for me either, don't need it and if it's absolutely necessary for resale (I doubt it) then it can be added at the time (probably with more up to date maps).

You've enough options to make it feel personal, and not 'basic' but not added options you don't feel you need or been persuaded you have to have the latest tech you might turn on once and then never use again.

Enjoy driving it when you get it.

Great minds think alike :)

Thanks for the comments buddy :salute:

Hill hold assist (actually it's equivalent to auto hand-braking), stop/start and s-tronic work beautifully together IMHO. Haven't touched the handbrake in 5+ months....

Stop/start? Work of the devil lol

My current A4 doesn't have it, but my wife's MINI JCW does. Always always switch it off, which I will be doing on the S3 :)

Can't comment on the S3 specifically, but the stop/start system in my car is pretty unobtrusive. Certainly much better than the 1 series I test drove...

Absolutely agreed on this

Sounds like a nice spec, I didn't go daft on options either. There are always comments on threads like these that you must have this and you must have that .. Usually ACC and tech pack/big screen etc. but I disagree.

I do very little motorway so ACC wasted on me. And it's an S3, I want to drive it, not sit there, steer and have it drive itself. May as well have the 1.2 if I wanted that.

Tech also wasted, I have a mac, ipad, iphone etc all at home. Have absolutely no interest in google maps or checking twitter or Facebook in the car. Again I bought the car to drive not to use as a £35k laptop

Interesting as I have it in the A1 and it's hopeless I find with the start/stop.
I find by the time the engine has started up again it'll release the brake before the stronic can take up the slack making it roll back a slight bit. It works fine if the engine doesn't shut down as the time is enough.
Perhaps it's improved in the A/S3.

Sounds more like you are describing the standard hill hold that all the cars have. BH has specced the hold assist option, which only releases when you hit the throttle so an entirely different kettle of fish.

Just had some good news (sort of lol) this afternoon from the Dealer

Got my build week which is BW50 (Commencing 8th December) & my Manufacturer order number

Ha, that means you will have early January when you thought March. When did you order - just last week? My contact is on leave this week, maybe I will hear next week. I ordered last Tuesday - ours will be in same batch for sure, paint etc.

I am changing the spec - removing audi connect and 'might' add pano roof. I had aimed for April delivery - might be sooner eeks.

My contact at the Dealer said there is a 2 week shut down at the back end of December, so maybe at the dealers end of January.

Because the supplying Dealer quoted me March new plate delivery they said they will honour this, which I am more than happy to wait for :)

Will just have to make sure they park our car in a dark corner of the compound when they get it

Just had an email from my supplying Dealer

My build week has been moved foreword to BW48 :D

Just hope it keeps moving foreword ;)

Does it make a difference if you're happy to wait till March?

Mine is due about 3 weeks early, would be an inconvenience if I got it and on the other hand unsure if its a good idea leaving it with them..customer may want a test drive..no S3 available, etc

Ha, same with me. I think there will be 2 more weeks in it, wk 46 for you and 45 for me and I will take before Xmas for sure.....

If I do decide to wait for March I will be asking dealer the dealer to leave my S3 in the corner of the compound & not to prep it in anyway

If I were to turn up to collect it & like you said it had been used as a demo, I WOULD NOT under any circumstances be taking it away from the dealer. I'm sure they wouldn't risk losing a sale on collection day for the sake of a test drive

Hey Bristle,

Not sure if I would trust dealer to hold it - could be nigh on 3 months.....

If you are keeping it for a while (I think you said you would), does it really matter. Could you actually concentrate for those inbetween months....

Get her early and and enjoy it......

Thanks
si

Like you Si, if it comes that early or earlier I'll collect

Early Christmas pressie mate? sounds good to me ;)

Indeed, that's what I am hoping for.....but moving the a4 on will be easier earlier, so we will have to cope with the Z4 for a few weeks - baby and all. I will be getting my bike out for sure....

Have you had any thoughts on what freebies to ask for? I told my guy - NO FLOWERS, something more useful. Jacket, wallet, etc

Might get the new S keyring and also boot liner, got the OEM for my A4 Avant and best money ever spent!

I'm sure you'll manage Si :thumbs up:

My A4 is going mid September & we'll be using the wifes MINI JCW until the S3 arrives

I negotiated a full tank of petrol, but will be contacting the Dealer just before collection to forget the flowers and give me something useful like you say

Bootliner & keyring sound good ideas :thumbs up:

All this talk of getting gifts like a full tank, need to get my sales guy in a head lock and beat them out of him!

For me I asked end of year but have been told mid Oct, wanted the extra time to carry out some work related issues, sell my car and let the insurance finish. See how things go, may be they will say its ready and when I get there its a 2.0TDI :grief:

Hill hold on my old Z4 coupe and my works Transit are absolutely fantastic, both manuals. On an auto I don't really see the point?

It means you don't need to keep your foot on the brake to stop the car creeping and can also do this with start/stop. All without pushing a button and no need to move the gear lever to N or P.

On the 3 series BMW I drove recently, I had to keep my foot on the brake and if I lifted my foot the engine restarted and started creeping. What a pain if you are stationary for more than a min or so.

S-Tronic/DSG isn't your traditional "Auto" box. If you're on a hill, and you take your foot off the brakes, it holds for 3 sec, and if you have not started applying acceleration to move forward, it will roll backwards unless you have the optional "Hill Hold Assist", which will hold the car indefinitely, until you push the accelerator, then it will disengage.

Which IMO makes hill hold a must.

Does start/stop tech ever kick in if you're on a hill?

If driving a S-tronic, I prefer not using the hold assist.

I can then vary brake pressure to determine clutch bite points in readiness for traffic light Grand Prix, and also regulate if/when I want Start Stop to activate.

There are also (frequently) times when I don't want it to apply the foot brake, or parking brake for me automatically, for example, after a high speed run I want to sit and idle on level ground with the DSG Park Pawl engaged, but not have hot brake pads clamped against a relatively hot disc.

It can also make slow speed manoeuvring slightly tricky.

For me Hold Assist is not a good option.

Don't forget to switch it off if you ever enter a conveyor style automatic car wash either .....

Lots of people do !

And at least one member on here does, he can't bend or has enough mobility to was his car, so needs must.

I have Cerebral Palsy and have never used a 'scratch wash'! I think Lowiepete has an amazing detailing thread, he is a big exponent of ONR and seeing his 5 year old car looking the way it does is a thing to behold.
Spotted you on DW buddy :thumbs up:

Lowiepete is sure an inspiration :thumbs up:

I found those same pics after a late session on the 'tinterweb last night, very nice indeedy :)

Very jealous of your forthcoming arrival buddy

Looking foreword to seeing the pics when it arrives

How Does the pictures on this saloon have blue stiching? I really like it on the sepang blue and I would spec it but I have only seen the red which can be speced :(

All I can think of is that its a non-Uk spec car or maybe Audi's exclusive interior option

Spoke to my Dealer this afternoon, unfortunately I'm still at BW48 :(

Possibly, would like to add it as an option but exclusive range tad expensive for some thread lol

Nightmare pal. Hopefully they will catch up and the BW's will come forward!

Seems as tho' it's the same with ALL A3/S3 saloons. We all gotta wait!

When spoke with my Dealer today, he intimated that they probably wouldn't receive my car until early January 2015. One of those things I've got no control of :(

Ha! I did the same, I am still BW 47. Estimating end of December for delivery, although I hope earlier.

They may want to get a few squeezed up as Xmas will be close.

Really do like these 8V saloons, they look the business. Seems like a fair spec you got there :)

Are the A3 saloons much smaller than the A4 saloon? Never actually parked beside one, must get a gander round one next time im up at Belfast Audi :)
