Hi guys
My first post on the 8V side of the forum, been a 8P owner for 5 years now and had 4 s-line's and 1 S3. I currently have a 2.0 TFSI S Line after selling the S3 to buy a house with the misses.

Now we've were settled in the house were looking at getting a new car and since I have always missed my S3 I have always wanted another, my current a3 has full 2011 S3 interior so getting an 8P S3 wouldn't feel like a new car so decided to look at the 8V.

We went into our local dealer yesterday afternoon to see if they had one in to test drive and they had a glacier white saloon s-tronic which looked awesome. Anyways they let me keep it over night to give it a proper test drive which I did haha.

Returned it this morning very happy and we have decided on a spec and just wondered if anyone thought we have missed something worth having.

S3 Saloon Glacier White S-Tronic
Black Styling Pack
19" 5 Arm Wing design high gloss
Hill hold assist
Non smoking pack
Privacy glass
SD satellite navigation
Electric folding mirrors
Extended mono pur
Bang & olufsen
Comfort pack
Interior light pack

RRP is £38.8K and DTD quoted £34.9K which is a saving of 11.3% so I told my dealer and they said they don't usually offer this much discount on a S model but they said that they will match it which I was very happy about.
Haven't ordered yet as I wanted to get correct spec matched with DTD quote before having to mess around changing it once ordered.

Here is the car I had over night very nice can't wait to get one now lol

Welcome to the waiting game.....great spec and good discount. It's funny most s3 saloon owners have all gone with similar spec.

You will enjoy the viewing of all these pages, I am looking at early December delivery, originally was March / April.

What have you been given?

Perfect car and spec.

Note I have gone for very similar spec myself!

Would also suggest adding the high beam assist as well. Works really well and cheap option for what it does. Adds to the high tech feeling in my book :icon thumright:

Thanks I have been told around FEB 2015 so would collect march 1st, I did look at high beam assist but never really use high beam so left that one out.

I wanted LED Headlights but from what I have read not really rated much better than xenons so couldn't justify the £800 on top of the spec I already want. They should be standard on the S3 as xenons are standard on a s line so s3 should have better standard.

Just a few thoughts ...

Which comfort pack did you go for? I would recommend minimum of comfort pack with parking system plus

Why the alloy wheel upgrade when the standard 19's are S3 only

I went thro' carwow to get our S3 saloon. Got the best price from there and then went to my local Audi dealer, who WOULD NOT deal on anything I put to them, so went with the the carwow dealer

Just went for standard comfort pack, I didn't like the standard 19"s so choose the ones that are on the S3 I test drove pictured above.

Ok thanks I'll take a look on there and see what they come out with.

Some things I got in addition to yours, then I added more and took one off (had to go through headache with Audi to do it -.-):

Super Sport Seats
Advanced key
Xenon adaptive lights
Electric door mirrors (dimming)
Boot mat

I wanted high beam assist but other things had to go with it that I didn't want.

I took Black Pack out (blame Bristle!), though I think on white it works a lot better than blue.

Do you have that desire for perfection too with your options?

PS: Good job on discount, mine was about 1.4% less but worth it to deal with the dealer (you can physically go down and kick off when things mess up)

Sounds fantastic mate, im a big fan of the saloons. They look super in white with black pack :thumbs up:

Nice options you have there A3_rider I'm considering the super sports myself, still can't fully decide on the spec! 1st new car I've ever ordered so want it correct with no regrets.

The S3 saloon I test drove had advance key but didn't see the point with it when the key is exactly the same slip key as a car without out it. I'd rather save £425 and start the car myself when I get in lol

It was a tough choice between saloon or sport back as we needed 5 doors for future. Saloon just looks more luxurious in my eyes. Plus the boot is slightly bigger on the saloon which helped make the choice.

My view is, get all the extras you want ( and fits your budget )u will only regret in the long run - esp (if like me) you intend to keep for good while (7-8 years).

Again I am just passing on advice, I agree saloon is more lux and deserves a spec up, so get SS seats!!

Still trying to convince SWMBO than we need SS seats in our life before 'lock down'

No joy yet tho ...' :tumble:

Great choice of colour looks superb with the black styling pack.

Black styling pack option
I test drove that exact car in Artarmon. It had different wheels on it then... Maybe someone kerbed the other set?
My wife and I loved it so we bought one too. Arrives in a few months.

IMHO Still think the standard S3 wheels looks better :thumbs up:

You're right about the advanced key and I thought the same but as mcnallys said if you're keeping it a while get what you want thats within budget. When I drove the RS4 in 2007 I loved the push start!

wow black styling pack looks awesome against the white, first time ive seen white saloon with black pack.
im guessing The black roof is pano roof so not part of the black pack.

well now me and the misses have finalised the spec, as above but we are now sticking with standard wheels thanks to bristle hound and we have now added super sport seats and LED xenons as we plan on keeping the car i wanted these two extras.

i'm going to speak to the dealer tomorrow and give them my new brokers quote for them to match and get it ordered and then play the waiting game.

Would recommend checking LEDs against Xenons, some buyers are disappointed. Then you might get the sunroof instead but that has some disadvantages regarding safety like an accident!

I hope you get a good deal, should be 8-10% at least! This is my 2nd new car order and like you want it to be perfect as I intend to keep it!

Need to see the Led headlights in the flesh...they are, well to me, a must, lovely design and function irrespective of what people may have wrote.

Also, request the audi ashtray even though you have specified the non smoking pack because effectively you have paid for it so request that separately.

Finally, this is mine...
19" WMR V-710 wheels
8.5j, ET 45 center bore 57.1

Well today I ordered the car and paid the deposit so now it's a long waiting game.

Wasn't too sure on LED headlights but the dealer had an S3 cab with them in to show me and wow I knew I was right in ordering them.

I will find out end of the week on a build date but been told 20 weeks as an estimate so beginning of new year so might wait until match for 15 plate if I can wait that long lol.

Managed to get 10% discount which was good so roll on the next few months can't wait now.

LED headlights - I would think twice about getting them again IMHO. As a purely aesthetic piece of a design they are gorgeous. Stunning in fact. In actual use though I have been quite unimpressed with their brightness and projection. I did expect more for £750......I'm still not 100% sure they are worth the money purely for cosmetic reasons alone.

BUT I would say if you are ordering them then add the high beam assist (sorry to repeat myself) as it does finish off the whole assistance gadgets element the A3 does so well. It's only £100 and is a cool feature IMO.

Thanks for you honest opinion, your right about them been stunning but I also like the fact they are adaptive too. That's a £300 option on Xenons anyways. What's the high beam assist actually do just turn off the high beam with on coming traffic?

I can't help smile every time I unlock the car at night - but still in two minds if they were worth it.

Yep, high beam assist adjusts full beams on and off for oncoming traffic. Reason I love is I just get in the car at night and just drive it. No worrying about turning lights on / off, hand brake etc. Love it....

He's right, the last time I used beam assist was in a Merc, made night drives so relaxing. I wanted it on the S3 but needed extra bits for it that I didn't want.

If you want to add it do it within 7 days before they try and fob you off by saying you cant change the order. I had to go through Audi UK to get them to add some options!!

Am I the only person that realised after ordering the saloon it comes with magnetic ride as standard on the S3 and not the hatchback or sport back, was even more happy when I found that out lol is there a separate button to deactivate it or is it part of the drive select system.

Wow nice, I've never tried it but read its good but also harsh?

Saw a Glacier White A4 today, pics don't show how nice it actually is, beats standard white easy!

I've never tried it either but heard good things, one thing I did notice when I had the demo saloon was how bouncy the suspension was over speed bumps in comfort compared to dynamic. Not sure if this is because of magnetic ride or wether it happens with standard suspension anyone else notice this?

I know what you mean, haven't really seen it gleaming though as the demo car was glacier but wasnt that clean as it was a last minute thing of been able to keep it over night before they closed. Also I have never seen the super sports seats in the flesh so can't wait to see them.

When I first saw the super seats I was taken away, after a few days and going back to them I realised you really are only getting the top half, the bottom half is just normal.

Here is an S7.

Here is an S3.

They still finish the car off nicely though and don't hurt like Recaro's if you're a big guy!

I'd noticed this too

Kinda only getting the half the sports seats. I suppose if they were the tops and the bottoms (like the S7 ones) the price would double accordingly. Can't have your cake and eat it ...

Even so, the S3 ones are still very nice indeedy :cool::cool:

The salon or is it a sedan?
Does look good...........................doesn't it.

Go to www.carfile.net - i just ordered using them as they get you more discount then orange wheels and drivethedeal

Just ordered my S3 Saloon S-tronic. Heres what I got:

Glacier White
Audi Sound System
Tornado Red Brake Callipers
Tech pack
Light and Rain sensor
Parking system plus
Interior light pack

Been told March 1st so far

Instead of the coloured calipers why not get something better? Mono.pur, privacy glass, etc

Or even take off caliper colouring, sensor and plus system and get comfort pack.

Suggestions btw, each to their own :)

I think the red callipers really set the car off. And I'm going to get all round tints on the car (keep out thieves looking into car) and the parking plus for the wife lol :)
