I'm not looking forward to this afternoon at all.

I started having pains in my side the day after i picked my new car up, i at first thought i had pulled something in the gym and it was a case of D.O.M.S but 4 days later the pain had shifted and i was in excruciating pain nearly immediately after i ate anything. Wednesday just gone i went to the docs, got prescribed some pain killers that didn't work then went to hospital that night. thursday morning i was back in with my GP who got me in for some blood tests on friday. yesterday i picked up my results and went for a consultation at a private hospital.

While i was in for my consultation the doctor said in a worrying tone "I need you to come ASAP as i would like you to have a ultra-sound scan, colonoscopy, gastroscopy and more blood tests, can you come in tomorrow?" to which i replied "yes" he then told me to go and eat ASAP and then start taking the pre-treatment laxatives as i would be in tomorrow (today) afternoon.

I dont know any more than that as it was all such a hurry yesterday and at the time i was all 'ok lets eat' but now i'm really nervous! My GP had mentioned suspected gallstones but the doctor yesterday seemed really concerned with the pain i was getting from anything i ate and the fact it was shifting from my stomach to my side just under my right rib cage.

Only 3 hours to go but due to the laxatives I'm already unable to wipe I'm having to dab so this could be a very loooooong 3 hours! :/

one question though due to me needing a camera up my sheriffs badge do i need to shave it before i go?

No just make sure its clean lol, maybe difficult if your taking laxatives
Had camera in both ends mate its no big deal!

Yes a close blade shave for presentation and aftershave to make it smell nice.

Watched last night's BBC 2 Horizon about eating red meat.

In hospital on average it goes up 40 cm.

So whatever you do Paul don't get a boner.

Hope everything goes well,as for using the same camera for both ends i'd be more worried if it goes in one end and comes out the other.

Ohhhh had the camera up the nose and down the throat but not up the other end. one of the lads i work with had it up his backside and said it was quite unusual feeling it go from left to right and back again as it was navigating it's way though him :/ doesn't sound too appealing to me! hope you get sorted out though, waiting for a diagnoses is always horrible

Just out waiting for results now

Hope all is well - fingers crossed for you.

I had similar "pain" around my ribcage earlier this year and after a few investigations had pulled muscles around my ribcage. Similar symptoms with eating too. Was scary time as only 29 but can't be too careful.

Not sure if you paid the £££ yourself for the private hospital or your company paying for it but will just say it makes all the difference in terms of speed as you get to the bottom of whatever the issue is very quickly.

Sure you in very good hands mate

Company paying thank god :)

Its really efficient, i only had my consultation yesterday!

Yeah - to be honest I viewed my employer in a different light after my scare as I really was well looked after.

Get well soon mate, hope it's not something serious!

Had the camera down my throat for stomach ulcers many years ago!, can't say it was enjoyable! Lol

@P40ULW - best of luck, hopefully whatever it is, is sorted pronto. Hope I'm not speaking out of turn here, but at times like this I think everyone fears the Big C, just keep in mind it could be any number of things. :)
