Hi all,

I've been on the A3 8L board for almost two years and am completely sold on the Audi brand, which is why I went for the B7 next. I was planning on getting a B5 S4/A6 All-Road just for the 2.7T engine, but I couldn't resist the pull of the slightly newer car - which is very unlike me as I have always owned old (much older) cars. But, with a newborn baby and a wife to please, I stumped up £2650 for a 2.0T FSI which I think is a bargain. The guy I bought it off took it in part-ex and wanted to sell it within a week, so I think that's why I managed to get a deal.

It's got 122k on the clock (just shy of 12k per year which is average really) and is pretty standard. It's an SE model, which is its downfall in terms of spec and seats, but I have already been trawling eBay and other places for bits and bobs. Seen a few threads on here which have inspired me and am sure that this board is just as handy as the A3 8L one. I don't know much but I'm not afraid to get stuck in so if I can help others out, I will.

Plans so far are: oil and all filters changed, magnetic sump plug and oil pick up pipe, cam follower, thermostat, air con regassed/sensor replaced (please be no gas and not the compressor!!), checked over by my MOT friend, then stage 1 remap APR most likely, RS4 ARB, BBS CH/Mk5 Golf Anniversary wheels, Cupra front splitter (very unlike me but it does look good), some better exterior/interior lights (will ask T8ups about that), sportier seats as I miss the Recaros of the A3 already, Plasti Dip/wrap the nasty mock wood interior trim gloss black or silver, pressed number plates and maybe go slightly lower depending on when I get the wheels.

Anyway, enough gassing, more pictures..
(edit...will take some higher res images as these are off eBay and are weirdly small)

Can't see your thumbs in detail but think it's looking good. hehe Wish you all the best with your new Baby. I recommend that you wrap your interior trim. It is reasonably easy and there is a good "how to" on line ( somewhere ). Not sure if Plastidip would handle the contact from arms, hands and elbows! T8ups bulbs and service is 100%.

Cheers

Thanks Allan :) I will look at wrapping the trim then, but I can already guess that I would be terrible at putting it on. Wallpapering isn't my forte LOL. I suppose it means I could get carbon fibre wrap, though. I was going to use Plasti Dip and a few coats of glossifier to make it shiny and more resistant to knocks. Will see what wrapping options are available.

Dan, am useless at pretty much everything connected with d.i.y, however, I did manage to do mine.....and if I can.....anybody can Matey. It really is pretty easy and if you take your time, you can do a brilliant job of it. I only wish I used 3d carbon fibre look as opposed to the 2d stuff, but didn't know it was available till afterwards. Can easily be done in a day and all you need is a hairdryer and a couple of tools.

Welcome on the B7 side mate.
Just like you, I came over here from the A3 8L section too over a year ago.
I'm sure you'll be very pleased with your 2.0 tfsi.
And don't worry there are lots of very smart lads around to help with any DYI or issues you may come across here in the B7 club.
So enjoy your baby & your new car and keep us updated of any changes you'll make to your ride.

There is a cheap set of silver trims on ebay. They end tonight about 30 quid i think

You don't have a link do you? Been searching on eBay and can't find any good ones that aren't scuffed/bent.

It might not be mint but look better than the wood look. You could take your time wrapping yours then
This is the item number

Yeah think thats the best idea. 3d carbon vinyl is 20 quid for probably way too much, but I'm sure I can find things around the house to wrap.

Dieseljake cheers man, yeah I honestly think it's a bargain too. I know these engines have their potential problems but 2650 is very cheap. Been watching A4s on ebay for about 6 months, but think the seller didn't know the true value of it and wanted a quick deal/turnaround for his cashflow.

Nice-looking car, Judderman. Welcome to the world of the useless-at-DIY B7-owners.
