Rang the stealers and they wanted 345 quid for the fan unit so investigated a bit further.

All fuses OK so stripped fan out of housing, checked power was there and the control signal to the module varied in line with the climate control. Disconnected fan power and plugged back in fan worked!! but only for a few seconds before cutting out.

Either the control module is getting a fault from the fan and cutting power or the control module is knackered. Ordered a new one for 70 quid of ebay so hope that sorts it.

Offending item

Fingers crossed

Hope it works for you mate.
I've never had any problems with these but have heard of the fan playing up.
Let's hope it's the cheapest option

Aircon fan fixed with 70 quid controller, chuffed. Saved 270 + fitting from the stealer ha ha

What does everyone one do with the bits they replace as they mod your car?

Got S3 2011 air box/pipercross, dampers, centre arm rest, door trims, front springs and fuel pump cluttering up my garage

Combination mate.
Exhaust in the garage
All the other bits have gone in the loft.
The wife never goes up there.

I keep them so I can return it to standard when the time comes to sell up.

For some reason not many people like buying modified cars, they prefer to buy standard then modify themselves. Had this with all my cars.

I think that's always the way.

The reason most of us start something like that is to get it to the way you want, and not neccessarily someone else's idea of perfect.

Nearly at Stage 2+ got the LOBA HPFP and CAI fitted. Ordered RS4 fuel return valve and wondered whether the RS3/TTRS LPFP was worth fitting. Seeing as the RS3 is running 340 stock I would have thought it was worth it over the stock S3 version. Thoughts???

The Rs3 also has a 2.5 5 pot as stock tho...

Very interested in the B8s now.. I had the H&R springs on my prefacelift and I thought they were great... Now i've got the very same spings on my facelift and the car is what I would call 'bouncy' and not very comfortable at all.. Some difference in handling between the 2 for the same setup, which is very weird!?

So the B8s highly recommended then!? And will these be ok with the H&Rs!?

Hi jacko my h&r springs where also a bit bouncy and a nightmare with 19s on ,with pot holes with my s3 ..

Just seen this.....there are some issues with the PWM controller for the pump overheating when used with RS3 pumps,so you may want to take a look at the APR or USP auxiliary pump systems, but you won't need these until you hit 440bhp.

Cheers Alex, don't think Ill be going near 440 just yet so leave as stock.

All I can say is I'm really pleased with the Bilstein ride handling so much better than stock, but you can see I had a problem fitting the Eibach springs I got, no idea if the H&Rs will work. If I did this again I would look at the B14 kits which come with springs and adjustable shocks for the ride height.

Jacko, I second Bilstein .. There are reports B14 are slightly softer than PSS10's on the lowest setting. Mine are on 2 and they are fine for good roads. They do firm up plenty with pot holes though. I have no complaints with it to be honest, the handling is superb.

I have the eibachs which are fitted and don't want to take them off to find they(B8's) don't fit and have to put them back on again

another way around that is to use the ttrs / rs3 pwm controller...

ps nice thread mate, keep up the good work...

True....but also a couple have had issues with that solution,so it's not a 100% reliable fix.

That's primarily the reason that both APR and USP have their auxiliary systems on the market.

The downpipe is what gives you power.
Pretty noticeable power increase with a downpipe. The cat back is just to tone the sound.
Enjoy mate

You'll enjoy the extra power released from the DP and sports cat.

and the added noise too.
When I press the loud pedal in town, sounds ace, and it turns heads everytime.

Noob Q:

Does the DP and cat have to be done together, or can you mate a aftermarket DP to the OE cat for a bit...?

The stock DP and decat is one piece. It would be a ballache to cut and chop it, and it'll be the wrong diamter for an uprated DP.
It'll be cheaper and easier to do it together. If your near the North West Pipewerx do DP and decat for £375 fitted.
Check my blog.
