# Weeks from Order: 17
# Days to Delivery: 9

Well, after a long trip through Ireland, Wales and England we finally arrived in sunny Bracknell last night.
First day of hockey camp is coming to a to a close.

Was in Camberly Audi earlier today to get a deal comparison just out of curiosity and I must say they did treat us very well. They couldn't even get close to the deal I got for the A5 which has settled me enromously. I didn't do much shoppng around at the time so I'm very happy and looking forward to next week.

Before that, Audis in the Park on Sunday. I believe we should be able to park inside the venue but just not enter the Audi areas in the Jag. So looking forward to that, hopefully get to meet a few more ASN'ers

Stunning car, but it would annoy me not having a new plate so close to September 1st, I'd be wanting to wait another couple of weeks

It's getting my private plate so it's not an issue. Also I'm in Northern Ireland where we don't suffer from plate envy...! ;-)

Neither do I, i's just a day and a number. Went straight to PP as I don't give a rats **** what people think about the age of the car, once it's been driven a mile it's a used car.

Do like the Ibis, works well with the black pack, just couldn't tear myself away from the dark colours.

Lol, just home. Weather is crap and the car is stinking...! Waiting for the rain to go off and I'll give it a clean for more pics

Had a really stressful day driving though North Wales yesterday trying to sort out the personal plate. DVLA have really messed up in the handover from NI to Swansea. At one point it was looking like another 10 days before collection. Anyway, strong mind, firm stance and somehow we're there!!

Handover was very smooth. My salesperson, Lance Walker drove down to the house and picked us up in an SQ5 which is rather nice!

More later

Excellent, glad you got it all sorted in the end, amazed they were able to turn it around for you considering they were suggesting another 10 days! Ibis / Black Edition works very, very well together. Being picked up in an SQ5 is a nice touch. Best I got was from the train station... :)

Post the 'stinking' pics up too - always good to see a car being really used.

Looks fantastic Steve and great service from Belfast Audi :)

Don't get me started on DVLA Swansea though, they, up until recently still said I was the owner of my old car that I sold months ago. They told this to a parking company when the new owner occurred a fine. So after a phone call that was getting me nowhere, I have sent a strongly worded letter to DVLA Swansea.

I don't see why they had to shut coleraine, I'm mean if it's not broke don't try to fix it

Thanks for all the comments guys. Have been out most of the afternoon so will get some pics later this evening.

Still not 100% sure that I should be driving around on the plate yet and that leaves a question over the Corsa... Next few days should sort it out.

Steve

Awesome, congrats buddy and I best see you enjoying the Quattro around soon 😉

Well I couldn't do it. So the first wash is done. It's an absolute joy to do, low roof, low swage line on the doors, s-line sills keep the dirt low. The Rotors are super easy to clean which will help over the busy family times. I think I'll enjoy cleaning this one.

Just paired the iPhone and am enjoying some Bluetooth streamed tunes. To my uneducated ear the B&O sounds amazing.

Used the Nav to get home earlier an love the hires display. Maps are very clear and easy to follow.

Some pics for your enjoyment. I'd have had them up earlier but I've been too busy poking and prodding the toys in the car!!

Great stuff Statler. Car really does look great in white! You'll love the refinement of the cabin as well. All the materials used are good quality and the car is just so comfortable to drive!

White really does suit the A5 Sportback and it is really set off well with the Black Edition styling.
I always find when you wash a car for the first time you get to appreciate the subtle things in the styling and get to know the car much better.
Some great pictures.
Now just enjoy the drive. :racer:

Car looks amazing mate.

Yes rotor alloys are crazy easy to clean aren't they :)

your ibis BE looks fantastic.

You will find ibis white is a joy to look after too.
No swirls.
Stay clean looking MUCH longer than a lot of people perceive.
No water marks after rain showers.
Easy to dry off in hot weather.
and looks $hit hot too :icon_thumright:

Looks superb - enjoy !

Ibis and BE is definitely a great combo. Always a head turner. The rotor's are probably the easiest alloys out there to clean, almost a pleasure to do them .. almost.
Fantastic looking car that you'll no doubt love

Thanks guys, I'm off work until Monday so plenty of time to enjoy the first few days!
Working around the house today, can't resist walking out to have a stare at it, funny how you notice different lines, or a new angle that looks good.
I can see the honeycomb on the plastic panels will be a challenge, both around the fog lamps and the rear valence, which I noticed is a grey/black mix, it looks good.
Will try to swap over the fog bulbs to the LED ones later on.

Have to decide on a caliper colour, they're currently silver but I'm thinking black now I see the car. I had red in mind but the TDi front calipers are quiet small and may not suit a strong colour like red or blue... Black with the 'quattro' decals is top choice form me at the minute.

I'd love to add the graduated fade Audi rings to the front doors as per my old 1990 80 Sport, any thoughts?

Sandra: Could you rename this to "Statler's A5 Sportback Anticipation and Build thread" please. I'd like to keep it all together!

Ooooh, Sandra, love the new site look and feel. Wondered why I couldn't get on through Tapatalk, now I know!

So bit the bullet yesterday and took the car out.... risking dirt, lorries and other serious irritations on owning a new car...

Driving is a dream, the gearchange is slick and the clutch is just smooth and judder free, unlike the BMW!

Power delivery is gentle to start but there is a good kick when you press the pedal on down. Lots of torque. Took the family and outllaws for brunch and got a bit of a blast down some country lanes so I'm very pleased with the power with a full load, so to speak.

Gave it a quick wipe over with Megs quick detailer last night as it's been windy here and the yard is dusty... Today I'm hoping to get the wheels sealed and tackle the LED fog lamps.

Ok so the wheels are sealed but the led fog bulbs are looking doubtful. They have a ballast and a big resistor. Looking into the space, there is room and a suitable spot to cable tie them to the bumper shell but I don't think they will stand up to the environmental abuse from dirt and water.

I think plan B - some bright white xenon look bulbs instead with the LEDs going for sale on E90post!!

Xenon look bulbs will complete the look fine but make sure you get as close a colour temperature to 6000k as possible

That's the plan. Was just reading through Warrens build thread again to get the details!

BTW did you get Continenals or Pirellis this time around?

I've Pirellis. I guess the difference is in the tyre size and the cost price
I had the P-Zeros on a previous BMW and the lasted fairly well as non RFT 18's.

I really didn't like my Pirellis on the E92 though. I know they were RFT so I'm sure that didn't help...

I did really like my Continentals. I find the Dunlops quite comfortable so far and quite quiet. Let's see...

I was running 19" Vredestien Sessantas on the E92. They were a very good tyre for the price.
We had Dunlops on the Jag as the first set. They were very comfortable but lasted 12k, tho it's incredibly hard on tyres and brakes come to think of it...

What's the price point of Dunlops anyway? More or less expensive than Conti and Pirelli?

12k is not very much at all though.

About the same. Very expensive which is why it's running Vredestiens!! It's a really heavy RWD car - it seems to be perfectly normal. Have seen better mileage out of the Vreds now which is heartening...
