What have you done to your A4 b6 today?

It's an 800cc three cylinder, makes about 150bhp and weights in at 175kg so it goes quite well :eek:D

Cabby - been riding for 22 years without incident (touch wood) we are not all out to kill ourselves on the road.

Glad to hear it. I know all bikers are pretty sensible, its like car drivers there is always the one idiot. Bikes just stand out more cos there are fewer on the road generally. Some lad here managed to roll a car on a straight road this week, not hurt, but no other cars involved. The photo on the paper has it on its roof still with a P plate on it, oops !

Fixed my air conditioning today. A fairly simple fix in the end, the drive pulley was broken and a replacement pulley from TPS (£135) fixed it.
The pulley looked ok but when the new one arrived it was obvious the old one was ********. The centre of the old pulley was completely missing. After the re-gas (initial attempt to fix) and the new pulley the car is now frosty inside LOL

Was it making a racket by any chance Chris? My Econ light now stays on and there's a rattle from the pulleys at idle.

No, not a squeak from it, TBH i'm surprised i didn't hear the pulley disintegrate. There is a large bearing in the outer pulley so that could be the problem with yours. Your best bet is to pop the auxiliary belt off and check for play in the pulley.

I just trimmed them down a bit with a dremel then push them over the bolts. Simple. I managed to get them over my locking wheel bolt too by warming the plastic with a hairdryer then gently pushing them on.

I had an MOT and it passed :)

The irritating rattle coming from the front passenger side was a loose pad,it wasnt seating properly,a new set of Brembos and alls quiet now.Happy that it just cost me that considering shes just coming up to 165k

I did it even easier than that, pair of decent scissors do the trick just fine, quick blast with laquer and ya done, once ya done the 1st 1 the rest are easy, make sure give em a good coat though or they will soon be ratrod like mine lol.

Yesterday I did a burnout................... with the cambelt.:whistle2:

Cheers mate, think I got away with it.

Was stopped at the lights yesterday - smoke started pouring from the bonnet.
Grabbed the extinguisher - opened the bonnet and found loads of white smoke coming from the belt covers - smelt rubbery, so knew it was a belt.
Was hoping it was an AUX belt at this point but turned out to be the cambelt.
Suspecting a seized waterpump or tensioner at this point.

Cambelt was due in 10k so I guess it softens the blow a little - but was still around 6 months away.
Was going to get adamss24 to do it for me, but going to be expensive getting the car down there on a low-loader so i'm going to attempt it myself.
Purchased new belts, tensioners, waterpump, timing tools and gaskets thismorning and will tackle it during the week.

The 2.5TDi strikes again!

Just had my Cambelt, water pump and aux belt changed today.........4 more years peace of mind done!

Sorry to hear about yours Alex.

Cab got it's first decent clean since I got it about a week ago, ordered some bits for it already and on the lookout for some new rims :)

Bit of a crappy pic from the iPad

Nice shiny new pressed metal plates

Well my Vgate scan tool turned up today, so plugged it in & got the following codes;

Engine mount solenoid valve (N144/N145) short to plus P1586
Potentiometer motor for centre flap (G112)
Actuating motor for temperature flap right (V159)
Potentiometer positioning motor for air recirculation flap (G143)

Any help with the above would be appreciated.

After having a turbo boost issue for a week I've sorted by swapping 2 vac lines around

The garage must of put them in wrong
