A3/S3 Saloon Register...

Love the angles lines on the side, still stand and admire mine 3-4 months on :)
Although it is like a baby A4, it looks so much better, like a shoe, always looks better on a smaller foot!

Hey, it's your car and a nice one too but it's an S3 badge on an A3 so I'd say it's wrong. If it's an S-Line it would look nicer with an S-Line badge.

If you want it to be different why not de-badge?

Yeah I think you may be right mate, I'll try the s line badge first see how that looks! Cheers

I couldn't justify the extra cost and a hatchback is more practical for me, but this looks lovely.

I've always bemoaned the fact my A5 Coupé only has a boot-lid rather than a tailgate, which really restricts what you can get in, despite the huge practical load-space with the back seats lowered. Anything like a TV has to go in through the doors. Yet the A5 Sportback has a tailgate, which makes it much more practical so they obviously have the technology! I've always considered it a design flaw in the A5 Coupé.

And yet - I've ordered an S3 saloon rather than a hatch! I just prefer the appearance, but I must be barmy!

Terrific!
When did you order it as a matter of interest?
Mine's been on order since last November and it's only arriving early September, although I did change the spec a bit in February which seemed to push it back to the end of the queue.
Sepang blue only appeared on the Paint Chart in April or May, so did you order that originally or did you change it later?

Ordered it around 2 months back but get on well with one of the lads at the dealership and he managed to sort out a build week of 37. Had her in Misano Red until today...just went and stuck privacy glass on it and changed to Sepang Blue haha! Think order will be confirmed tomorrow...good job otherwise I'm sure I would be down there in a weeks time tinkering again! Happy with my choice though...especially after seeing the RS5 in the same colour! Thinking about my next purchase already lol!!! Massively excited though...

Finally arrived last week after having ordered 1st Week in Feb.
2.0 TDi S-Line, B&O (no crackling), interior light, SD nav, privacy glass, badgeless rear, s-line suspension.

Covered 1700 miles in 10 first 10 days and my only gripe is the small fuel tank.

Fitted the 19" RS6 C7 reps yesterday - just waiting for the H&R supersport springs to arrive.

Very nice!
Those wheels must have cost nearly as much as the rest of the car...

this is the problem with having to wait so long for a car.. I've considered changing so many things.. including the colour!

As things stand it will be a Misano Red S3 saloon, Parade Red seats, Cruise, Nav, 10 speakers, Panaromic roof, and privacy glass. However anything could happen between now and when it arrives I guess ha.

Still waiting on a date.. ordered it four weeks ago and indications seem to be October but nothing concrete as yet. Having managed to take a few for test drives and now knowing just what an amazing car it is, it's so painful waiting! :(

As I've mentioned a couple of pages back, be careful when changing the specification.
I ordered mine back at the end of November 2013 because I wanted one of the first and it's still only been built this week (week 31)!
I realised only in February that rear parking sensors were not standard, so I changed the spec on 7th Feb to include them, being assured it would make no difference to the delivery date.
Then I was told 2 months later my build-week was wk 34, i.e. W/C 18th August. When I questioned it with Audi Customer Services they looked into it and told me my car was only ordered on 10th Feb... So I don't know what happened but it seems I went right back to the end of the queue just for including parking sensors. I did later change the colour to Sepang Blue, fully aware of what the consequences might be, but it actually made no difference!

Turns out my car is officially badged TFSi Ultra. Is this just a badge or has there been a change to the efficiency recently?

No just a change in badge since MY15. They added the badge and upped the 1.4TFSI to 150PS. CO2 remains at 109.

They are saying late november at the moment but we'll see. It seems generally a well speced car but is there any must have extras?

You're right - I was taking the date of order but BW42 should (if it matches my schedule) get to you early November. Ah, as to any must have extras - there are many threads on this and an infinite amount of posts as we all are looking for different things from our cars. Mine is a retirement car so will keep it a long time, hence the high spec. But "relatively" inexpensive items I would personally recommend:

*Hold Assist (especially if you have S-Tronic)
*Adaptive Cruise Control
*LED Interior Lighting Package

And then second tier extras would be:
*Parking System Plus
*Folding & Heated Mirrors

And if you feel like making the car feel really special inside:
*Extended Mono-pur Interior Finish

I'm not sure whether you are going for a Sport or S-Line model but do think about the suspension. Again lots of different opinions but many magazine reviews and my test drive experience would recommend the free of charge option of
*De-select Sports Suspension (Sports suspension is lowered by 15mm and has stiffer suspension and damping, and is standard on Sport and S-Line models). There is a further S-Line Sports suspension which lowers it by a further 10mm and is generally not recommended for UK roads).

I've gone S-Line (with 18" wheels) but have de-selected the Sports Suspension (so it is back to SE suspension and is not lowered).

Anyway whatever spec you decide I'm sure you'll love it - I get my SB tomorrow.

After many weeks of deciding the specs I have finally ordered an A3 Saloon :yahoo:

A3 Saloon 2.0 TDI S-Tronic
Estimated delivery 29th November

- Brilliant Red
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Bang & Olufsen Sound
- Nappa Leather
- Folding Mirrors
- Auto lights & wipers
- Heated Seats
- Rear Parking Sensors

The amount of time I've spent choosing the colour, spent weeks deliberating whether to get Glacier or Red.. initially ordering in Glacier thinking I made the best choice as Red may be a bit too eye catching but on the way back from work the other day and a red A3 saloon pulled up alongside me.. it was at that very moment I almost hit the car in front while looking at it lol, but I knew that I had to change to red. Went for Brilliant Red as from what I've read the difference isnt very distinguishable to Misano and by going with solid I could get the B&O system :D

Sounds like you should definitely have Adaptive Cruise Control with Emergency City Braking and then it'll never happen LOL

Haha that's actually the feature I'm looking forward to the most, few more years and I'll be able to let it steer for me too :D

I finally ordered yesterday after months of watching videos, reading reviews and going through the configerator.

S3 3dr S-tronic
Sepang Blue
Lunar Silver Leather, black headliner.
18" 5 Parallel spoke part polished alloys
Tech Pack high with connect
Hold assist
Interior light pack
B&O sound

BW36 expected 3rd October according to dealer (changing the spec of a car already in the queue for me).

Evening all,

Deal has been done and deposit paid!!!!!

S3 saloon S tronic in Sepang (kept the chrome after much internal debate)
SS Seats
Tech Pack High
B&O sound system
Advanced Key
Hill Hold
Comfort Pack & parking plus
Privacy Glass
Folding Mirrors
LED lights
Internal light pack
Mono pur
Black inlays
No smoking pack (want the ashtray though)

Thanks to everyone for all feedback and advice, now for the long wait. No word on 'real' delivery date yet, but probably March / April.

Is there any other stuff I need to know about? Audi dealer did a good job on discount, so reasonably happy and managed to just drive first s3 in n.i last week and was well impressed.

Does anyone know when the apple carplay and android systems will be installed from - starting Jan 2015 maybe?

Long delivery delays are certainly the norm from Audi these days but they're beginning to take the **** a bit here..
