Hey all

My A4 is currently back in the stealers having some work done under warranty but once I get it back I am thinking about a few mods.

its currently got the standard 5 spoke S Line alloys and 245/40/18 Michelin SP3's all round. I'm not a fan of the ride quality of the current tyres or looks of the alloys , the ride is a bit woolly and at higher speed just feels sloppy .

I was thinking about keeping them for a bit and then change the tyres to the new Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance tyres as they are ****** good from past experience and they only come in 245/40/18 at the moment.

I'd prefer the 7 twin spoke alloys over the 5 spoke I have now, but do I stick 18's and may be fit a set of Eibach's to give a better ride , maybe set of twin 7 spokes and the Eibachs or change to 19's which will be less fuel efficient for sure,

too many choices LOL

Going from an 18" to 19" and putting on a set of Eibach's will definitely give you a harder ride, talking from experience too!

I am also in a similar dilemma.
I have the s-line 5 spoke 18”s on and am either going to get the wheels refurbed and put some decent tyres on with a total cost of around £700 or...
Buy some 19”s with decent tyres for around £1200. Then hopefully sell the original wheels.
Plus side – the car will look a lot better with 19”
Downside – expense, the missus will probably kerb them, ride quality?

hmmm.....

I have a A4 Avant S-line BE on 19s but bought some 18s for last winter (with winter tyres).

There is a definite change in the ride between the two, with the 19s you do feel every bump. 18s much more forgiving. I like a firm ride so I've no problems, but going from 18 to 19 you will notice it.

Having the luxury of the two sizes means it's not the same ride all year, and the local council at least try to fill the damn potholes in the summer!

Stick to 18's. Eibach with new oe Sport/S-line dampers.

Im the same mate. have the same colour car as you and I have good wheels/tyres but no keen on driving it at higher speeds due to the sloppy ride. coming from an Insignia with Eibach Pro's and 20" running 245/35/20 I'm toying up all the options LOL

Remember one thing, as far as I know, and I have checked, there never has been an 18" 7 twin spoke wheel in the proper A4 B8 sizes, lots of copies being sold as being fit for any Audi any age, but that info is not true.

I found this link with some VRM 708's which I thick look pretty good ?

I think that I've seen other pictures of these or similar wheels on that forum, they do look very similar though probably no UK sellers of VMR.

I do agree that the 7 double spokes are quite good looking, or maybe very "pretty" - I've got an S4 with 19" 7 double spokes for summer and 18" 5 spoke for winter. Ride is okay on 19" but maybe the S4's suspension and weight works better than the chopped springs of the S-lines, just a thought as I'd always heard, before buying my first A4 that standard suspension with 18" wheels was HARD, S-line suspension was BAD and S-line with 19" wheels was a JOKE, I'm just glad that that is not how I have found my S4 with 19", also, person in passenger seat has never mentioned that sort of issue, which is handy!

Chopped springs on the S Line ? I was thinking of doing the springs 1st and changing them to eibach as they made such a difference on my Insignia it was unrear :)

I like vmr wheels but as you say there isn't a retailer in the uk for them believe me I have looked, as for the ride quality of the sline it is a joke, I replaced mine with coilovers and have to say the ride quality is pretty much the same as the standard sline set up (awful) lol :)
