Go on Shrek, spoil yourself. Read the reviews, for £58 it's about as reasonable as mods get. Christen the S5!

My fear is it would be like trying a gateway drug - I'd become addicted to modding... ;)

Unfortunately it's the truth. When you add a few carefully chosen mods you get to feel how the car could have felt without environmental targets, bean counter intervention and a tendency to engineer to suit the middle of the road mass market (e.g. Slightly softened).

My view is you spent £50k (or there a outs), and if you define a considered upgrade path you unlock the potential in the car. Draw up a list and stick to it (at a budget point). Shouldn't be all about power either, some of the best cars I've driven have had marginal performance increase power-wise, but handling mods transfer the car.

Obviously I don't want to be responsible for becoming your pusher(!) so I won't harass you anymore, but one day I'll let you drive mine once it's done and see what you think of it.

I fear this day... for when it happens I know I will look back at mine and be disappointed...

As I think I've said to you in the past, I absolutely love this car, so I think as it ages and warranty is less of a concern I would consider modding it at that point. But with little'un about, having to explain to my wife that I need to buy a new engine rather than having it covered under warranty is not a conversation I'm keen on having! :lmfao:

I know it's unlikely but as we've seen with llBen elsewhere it can happen. I'm guessing the S5 isn't the same money as the RS5 (obviously) but it isn't going to be cheap I suspect. :)

But then the power... and the speeeeed.... and the power..........

The S5 is a very good car out of the box, it's just a seven year old design that needs a few 'tweaks' to sharpen her up for 2014 and beyond! Agree with your warranty concerns, but as I don't have proper responsibilities it's a gamble I can still afford to take. Who needs 2 kidneys anyway ;-)

Some more feedback from A5OC

I've just fitted mine and went for a test drive; lightyears better than before. I've got 110k on the clock in with the engine in dynamic mode I'd say the shifts were verging on brutal if I wasn't being careful; now they're smooth and solid. I've also had a wee bit of rocking in slow traffic (1st gear on and off the throttle) and that's gone too.

Was worried that I'd got a bit excitable and wasted £58 on something I'd never notice, so I'm relieved!

If you didn't buy one, you should. If you bought one, get it fitted!

Mine took a grand total of 4 minutes to fit (including going into the house to pick it up off the table) - I'm a lanky ****** and could reach it without lifting the car at all!

Installed mine yesterday. Even at 5 stars this thing is severely underrated.

Noticed a lot of the feedback relates to Auto transmissions. I'm picking up my S5 on thursday (and couldn't be more excited - 2008 v8 :) ) and it's a manual, wondering if you guys can recommend it for manual transmission too? Not sure whether to order now or wait and drive the car a bit first to see how much i'll feel the slop... The feedback seems so positive so it seems silly not to go for it really...

I fitted it to my manual and noticed a big difference. Actually feel like I'm selecting a gear now.
