ASN's Pub

God I'm bored.

I changed my cycle route to work, I knocked 15 minutes off the trip.
My journey from my house to the ferry is 5 minutes now.
The trip from the ferry to work is still 10-15 though :(

New road tyres, rear cassette, front cassette and chain. going to change the number of teeth for each front cog and see what happens.
I can get quicker!!

morning,
your A3 rims wont go on the A4 uv, well they will, but they will be lost and buried in the arches mate!
they will be something like an et of 40 odd i think, the A4 needs something like 30 to 35!
you could space them i think, but would need some fairly chunky spacers dude!
just get new rims!
which is exactly what I am looking at now!
i just feel a bit weary about flexing my plastic friend! lol
it is a bit like getting to the top of one of those really high diving boards and getting butterflies in my stomach.....
should i jump or not....................
aaaargh!

Morning all, how is everyone??

I went out on my maiden voyage yesterday on the BMX with the little one, he decided to go on his scooter...all was going well till the last stretch home where he hit a bump, rolled and cut his knee, leg, arm and shoulder!!!

He did insist on wearing footy shorts and t-shirt though!!

He was ok, i tried to make him laugh a fair bit which made him forget about it, it was quite funny as at points even he didnt know if he was crying or laughing....lol :)

i had one of those days yesterday nilz!
teaching my 4 year old how to ride a bike!
it was quite frustrating!, she can peddle it away, but when she ran out of steam would topple over and fall! mucho tears, but she enjoyed it!
i done a bit of googling the best methods to teach them to ride and it turns out that stabilizers make them lazy!
the best method i found was to remove the peddles and let her get a feel for balancing and putting her foot down when it starts to go wrong!
it worked a treat, so today we will be practising a bit more like this before i put the peddles back on!
so hopefully by the end of today she will be riding solo!
my back is killing from running behind her all crouched! not a good position to run about in!

You googled how to teach your child to ride a bike?

Is this parenting of the future?

Put the child on a bike and push them off down the park and see what happens.

Scuff knees, elbows and dirty hands are fine.

How many children build tree houses, blow up cow pats and runs away from stampeding cows nowadays?

LOL....

Chez, its very much the same as those balance bikes that are about nowadays.

We still have the stabilisers on, however I do want to get them off asap, so he can gain some more confidence and more importantly keep up with me!! :)

I was happy with the scuffs and cuts etc, however the missus was less impressed with my approach of just get on with it, but i guess thats the difference between boys and girls growing up.

Thanks for the advice Chez, I guess I didn't really think that far ahead.
There's a set of the 5 spoke on it at the moment, there just a bit vanilla for my liking.
So your advice would be too sell them and get some more??
Is it safe to run with bigger spacers?? Not even sure what size spacers I have at the mo.
I was always focused on the bolt fittings rather than offset.

It is doable fitting whopping big spacers, and obviously humongous bolts to pass through them, but there will be a high chance that you will get wobble through the car!
Safe to some extent but there will always be an element of doubt i feel!
Your getting a lovely smooth car mate, would be a shame to spoil it!
Personally i would get some correct fitting rims and keep the comfort/safety

I had a look at wheelbase alloys site and they said the offset for both the A3 and 4 have offset of 18-45 for my rims.
I know I'm clutching at straws, just dont think I can justify another grand for rims on top of the new motor.
Would like to be able to run it for a few months while I recoup some pennys. Then buy some new.

I take it I could run it safer without spacers but as you say the wheel would be a bit lost.
Thanks a lot for the advice mate, much appreciated, was obviously blinded by the shiny new toy.
Scott.

Morning all,

UV, you could just bolt the wheels on and see how they look?
They might not rub on anything, be a little bit lost but you might like it.

I want some new wheels but I can't justify a grand at the moment.
I'm needing new front tyres soon which is about £150 each, so I might look for new wheels with tyres and flog my current set.
See how long I got left on these first.

Well its now official, I am an ****!! :keule:
All this talk about offset and size etc, the one thing I didn't check/consider is the bore size.
The B8 is 66.6 and the 8P is 56.1, I'm no Stephen Hawking but that doesn't compute, unless they make reverse spigots. Lol.

So at least I don't have to worry about if they look good now, looks like I'm sticking with the 5 spoke for a while.
Looks like I'll be selling my Calvin Kleins now, balls, I just put new tyres on in Feb. ah well, its the excuse I need for new rims.
Thanks for the help and advice guys, much appreciated, just have to collect the car now.

Wee update, I found a set of rims for sale, they are 19x8.5 et32 5x112 C.B 66.6
I know this questions has been asked a zillion times on the site but, will these fit my car.
I've been reading so many different sites with offset and bore details and a lot of them vary, just not sure what to believe now.
Double thanks.

Those rims are sick Chez. Always been a fan of rotars.
Really goes well with the colour of your 5. Top job.

I'm having to wait until Tues before I can pick up the car, waiting on V5 coming from Teeside Audi. Grrr hate waiting.
Took it for a test drive yesterday, will take a while to get used to a bigger car again.

I take it you have no rubbing/fitment issues on your new rims.
I've ordered 19x8.5, was thinking about 255/35 for the tyres, what are yours??

Waiting on the new rims arriving this week, can't come soon enough
Heres a wee pic.

Mine are 8.5x20 with 255/35/20 mate and no probs at all mate, just bolted on!
Yours will be fine mate, loads of B8's come with 18" as standard anyway

Rollin' on dubs. Thats bad ***, thats proper gangsta'
They look sweet tho, i was hoping to get the rims sealed and on this week but looks like the weather won't play ball.
Damn it.
Any advice on wheel sealants, looking at Swissvax Autobahn or Collinite, need to protect new rims.

I hate the Scottish Summer sometimes, well most times actually.

Yes mate, use poorboys wheel sealant! Excellent stuff and recommend by everyone!
Smells amazing too! Mmmmm

Yeah agreed mate, kinda glad I didnt pick the car up yesterday, it would be torture not being able to do bits outside.
I'm off work next week as well, trust me to pick such a ****ty week.
Maybe brighten up later in the week, or as usual, it'll wait till I go back to work again, then its sun, sun, sun.

Will get some picks up later in the week I hope, rims included.

How do everyone, you all ok??

Weekend was very mixed weather wise in good ol' Brum, one minute rain, the next blazing sun!!!

Afternoon all. Weather has been great all weekend. Beautiful day for scottie's wedding, then left Bristol as it rained to good old sunny London. Went up central yesterday for some shopping but also got to see a bit of the Gumball 3000 line up! Result
