Ive got a selection of car audio from previous car builds that id like to put to use in my C5.

The main item being either a 10" or a 12" JL sub install. Ideally id like to remove the stock item in the rear quarter and replace with the 12" JL in some kind of box. I'm unsure how i would get it to fit and would be interested in seeing how people have integrated sub builds into their avants in particular. Ive got a phoenix gold tantrum amp to power the sub and an RNS-e head unit.

I understand I'm going to need a pair of phono's and a line to the HU and a fused feed to the battery for the amp, but I'm also unsure how you connect that to the RNS as i don't seem to have any phono's on the back of the RNS and space is already tight behind there with an iPod kit and a nokia handsfree.

The other option i have is to use 2x 10" subs, one in each rear quarter but i understand that will come at the cost of losing the CD changer, which I'm not overly keen about. Id also like to keep the spare wheel as this is the family barge and i can't imagine a worse scenario than being stranded with a flat tyre and having to tell the wife 'at least we can have some bass while we wait to be recovered!'

So who runs what and how did you get it in?

Just standard BOSE. Gone past the days of listening to music at ear damaging levels/people hearing me coming from 10 blocks away... Like you said, it's a family bus, is it worth the effort?

I didn't mention anything about having ear damaging levels of sound or hearing it 10 blocks away, what i did ask is how people have installed their aftermarket audio setups. Thanks for the input :)

What other purpose would it have? It's not like you're going for high fidelity in a car which was never design with any form of acoustic sympathy in mind.

Would have been better with a ten inch sub just because space is pretty tight.
I removed all the gubbins in that cupboard then built the box.

Cheers Wes, thats all i wanted to know / see. Did you have a cd changer prior to the install and if so did you re-locate it or was it just removed? Audiobahn is awesome kit too, I was looking at their stuff prior to getting the W3 for a steal. Are you just running the bridged amp and stock HU/ speakers or have you amped the fronts too?

@rhys84 If the only purpose of a subwoofer was to cause ear damage and annoy neighbours I can't imagine audi would fit one as stock. All i asked was to see what people have installed not a running commentary of how happy you are with a stock system and how you used to be a bit of a chav booming out overly loud music in the past. Good for you, I personally want more mid and sub bass than the stock system outputs. The spare 10" JL W3 is more than capable of doing this and all I wanted was install ideas. Clearly you have nothing better to do than post rubbish at 11pm on a friday night, for that i am sorry. Good day to you.

I have an older sony head unit that I used to have in the corrado.
In the front I have some ex display fli component speakers @ £10
Rears are edge components from halfords on offer @ £15
Kenwood 350w amp @ 99p from eBay
Sub was £25

I had no cd multichanger had to remove the holder for it and tool kit.

I am still using standard sub as well and the rears are still wired up to the amp in the sub.

I am planning to upgrade the ken wood amp and also re-wire the rear door speakers to the head unit.

Overall sound is much improved with loads of depth and clarity.

this is what i had, plus all door speakers upgraded and bose system by passed and re-amped
