Hi, interested to see what dash cams people have fitted and reviews on where you put it in car and feedback how you rate it .

links to the item and pics in situ in the car much appreciated as I am looking to put one in my B7 above rear mirror area

thanks

I have the same as Sidibear. It really is excellent, well worth the price. Sometimes cheaper can be too cheap.

Looks nice mate I am looking possibly at a cheaper option as these are around £150 I understand

How much is your insurance excess though? It could just save you £150+

You would be gutted if you went down the cheap route and it didn't perform when you needed it to.

+1 for the DR380G-HD.

I believe it's being discontinued though so worth investing before stock disappears - you will struggle to find a similar spec'd and reliable dash cam at that price.

Think you need to ask yourself what it is you want from a dash camera, then factor the cost around that.
The Mobius camera is a great budget camera if you don't need GPS or G sensors.

It's picture quality in light and dark scenes is perfect, records at 1080p@30fps or 720p@60fps, microsd card support goes up to 64GB. Has continuous loop recording, in which every dash cam you need. Firmware is updated regularly. No over bloated software to configure it.

Can't really fault it for a budget camera.

What is the gps and g sensor for

GPS for your speed and location, G sensor is for if someone hits your car while parked or moving, also shows your deceleration/ acceleration force when braking / moving off.

Hi all , I have just bought a blackvue DR300 does it need a update or something as the blue light is flashing,

Si

I have my light turned off in the settings so can't remember what it means when it flashes (it's more hidden, especially at night and when using the Parking Mode when the LED ring is turned off).

It usually flashes (and cycles through different colours) when you first turn the camera on until it's ready to record (I think by default it says something along the lines of "Blackvue for your safe driving" followed by "Starting normal recording").

You can always update the firmware to make sure you've got the latest. Unless anyone tells me any different, I believe this is the latest firmware currently out for the BlackVue DR300...

i fancy a cam but i don't want cables hanging about - are there enough reliable firms who would do a decent job of fitting one properly and wiring it in etc?

Have you loaded the software onto the micro sd card? I assume it's not just a blank card?

When you load the latest firmware onto the card and first plug it in the BlackVue does an upgrade (it tells you it is upgrading etc).

Sorry I don't quite understand! So you've formatted the card and then loaded the firmware onto the card? And you've been presented with the following screen on your computer after it finished?...

Yes mate that's exactly it. Insert card back into cam and nothing only flashing blue light

That's strange. You're definitely using the correct firmware for your model camera?

Edit: Some more thoughts... What micro SD card are you using? The one that came with it or a different one?

The LED ring on the side... is it flashing slow or fast would you say?

Finally... holding down the button on the side for 5-10 seconds or so will restart the device so could be worth a shot?

It's the scandisk one that came with it it's a 4gb one, the blue flashing light is at the end of the camera and it's flashing slow
The sofware I have downloaded is as the attachment here mate,

Tried holding down that end button as you said but it does nothing and still flashes slow blueImage

This is really strange. Do you have another Micro SD Card you could try?

Where did you buy the camera from? Does it have a serial number (I don't need to know it, just wondering if it has one). It should be located on the camera around the thin part which clips into the holder (if that makes sense?!)

Yes mate it's got a serial number where up stated it should be I have ordered another SD card so should have that Monday.
I bought it used and the seller stated they could not get it working as they don't know how to do updates as they were not pc savvy I did win it cheap in an auction and the seller said it was given to them by a friend. It's all in original packaging and all complete it all looks like brand new.

You should send it back to get a replacement, most likely a faulty unit?

Yeah I'd send it back before it's too late. It's clearly been sold as a faulty unit.

Buy new and from genuine sellers (avoid the likes of eBay like the plague for stuff like this!).

Was it specifically described as faulty though? I'd sent it back as a faulty product not as described.
