Have just been into Audi and been offered an A5 Black Edition 2.0TDI quattro with Tech Pack, interior light pack, folding mirrors and heated seats for £325 a month over 4 years (currently paying £273 a month over 3 years for the A4 due to putting in a large deposit)

They have offered £20k for my car (webuyanycar only offering £18k since the 14 plates were released) plus a dealer deposit of £7500.

I'm struggling to see a reason to stick with my car (refinance) other than the fact it only has 14k miles on the clock, any thoughts?

Think this is a question only you can really answer tbh, but we can try and help you best we can with any views / input etc.

So what would main reasons for changing to the A5 from the A4 be ?

Spec appears to be similar looking at your sig and spec of new car.

Colour of new car ?

What is the age of your A4 ?

is a 3 door coupe ok for your needs - only ask with you having the A4 and assume not picked the A5 last time round.

Assume you are generally happy with the A4 so the A5 will drive similarly.

Originally wanted an A5 but it was vetoed by she who pays the bills due to preferring the 4 doors of the A4 as we wanted to start a family (we now have a wonderful two year old daughter)

Wife then proceeded to buy a mini cooper as she didn't like to drive the A4 (she has only driven it twice in 3 years). She has since changed the mini for a 3 door Ford Focus.

We actually find getting our daughter in and out of the Focus easier than the A4 due to being able to climb into the rear to put her into her car seat.

Spec is pretty much the same as I don't want it to feel like I was buying a lesser car, main reason to change would be the fact that I would otherwise refinance the A4, the cost of which when taking the fact that it needs two new tyres and will soon need another two, I would have to pay for breakdown cover, possibly buy warranty, MOTs, etc the cost to change is minimal.

Tough call really. Suggest you drive the two and see whether the A5 ignites the soul any more than the A4 (unlikely). Personally I prefer the look of the A5 to the A4 as the coupe shape looks slightly more svelte, but if your car looks anything like the one in the sig it's still a good looking car.

Thats the real reason I'd like to change, have always loved the look of the A5, and if I had bought one 3 years ago, I don't think I'd be wanting to change now.

The A4 looks exactly like the one in my sig, hardly a mark on it as it only gets used at the weekends for family visits, just doesn't look as good as an A5

So you have always hankered after an A5 and the need for a 4 door car is not an issue any more so that's cool.

Have you had the A4 3 years ? .... if so, then pretty reasonable to look at changing after this long IMO - its certainly how long I usually try and keep my cars before changing.

So yeah newer model, 3 year warranty again, new tyres etc as you note.

If the figures stack up (and sounds like they do) then most certainly worth taking further forward.

As Warren says, I can't see there being much difference in the drive, this is gonna be mainly about external looks and owning a 'coupe' and one of Audi's best penned designs.

What colour is the new car ?

Yeah, I usually change every two or three years depending on whether I still like my car (hated the fiesta after the first year)

The A5 offered is in Daytona grey, I have given them the go ahead this morning so they are now organising obtaining the car for me so hopefully it's still available.

My only real requirements were that it be either a white or grey black edition with tech pack and folding mirrors.

Nice one and sure you will be very happy with the A5.

Daytona is a stunning colour.

Any idea when you might get the car ?

It's apparently outside of the group so they are organising sourcing it today (fingers crossed it's still available) should have it this month apparently.

They have contacted me to say they have acquired the car, just got to be approved for the finance now!

Cheers guys. I only really went to the appointment on Monday to stop Audi from constantly contacting me regarding changing cars, as I didn't think they would be able to offer me anything comparable to my A4. I was all set to just take out a loan to cover refinancing, and keeping the A4 for a few more years.

Waited 3 months for the A4, glad I don't have to wait long this time.

Oh that's right, cheers for that..... don't rub it in will you!!!!

Only 10 weeks or 70 days or 1680 hours or 100800 minutes to go (assuming it turns up on time) ........ Waiting, it's over-rated. Wish I wasn't such a fussy b*****d as I could have had the one in Kidlington already!

Yeah, but look at the car you will have at the end of it. I'd much prefer an S5 over the A5 (a definite downfall of being a stay at home dad)

The wait is a double edged sword isn't it.

Great some days / a killer other days.

BUT ....

When the wait is FINALLY over, it does feel worth it doesn't it.

But in the meantime ...

Chin up mate, keep on counting those days down, get re-reading the brochure, re-looking at pics over and over, checking the Audi on line configurator etc etc :)

Also to 'help', Inked & myself will enjoy driving our cars and passing on the 'virtual' experience to you, to keep you going :blow::beerchug:

Respect to you for that; I'm just pleased that you're able to fulfil your dream given the challenges that must bring. I nearly put myself in a wooden box last September trying to fulfil these dreams!

It's just a pleasure looking at people's cars and reading what they're doing with them, keeps my mind off the wait a bit.

I must get that Stg1+ car ride booked up, that will help bridge the gap!

Hey ......... 95% of owning an A5 is the look and styling of the car.
Any A5 in its latest current form with the amazing lights and coupe looks, is one of the best looking cars on the market.
The black edition really finishes it off too - inside & out.
Daytona is also a mega colour, as is estoril, black, misano, white - amazing colour choice on the A5.
You are gonna LOVE the car when you get it believe me.

Can I ask; what was the settlement figure on your A4. Lovely cars by the way...

Cheers, settlement was just under £14.5k I think. Just made this months payment too so should be even lower.

Right so on top of the £7500 dealer contribution you've also had £5500 in your car too, good deal there I'd say... Well done.

Cheers, it was too good to resist.

Now just got to try and use up nearly a whole tank of fuel before the end of the month!

Definitely ... I was very pleased to see him looking his normal self again and more like Sly and JCVD.
You seen Mel Gibson atm - he has seriously got into shape for Expendables 3

Oh to have all day to go to the gym and be trained by a PT! That said, if the car in the background is his looks like he could do with another movie under his belt. The 'butchers forearm' red paint doesn't help it either.

Looking forward to seeing him on screen, to see how he has bulked up.

Yeah the Bimmer in the back ground - you would hope that is not Mel's :)

Been and signed the finance docs today, car will be arriving on Wednesday and I am collecting Friday, can't wait!

You lucky, lucky b*****d!

Looks lovely. Now get out there and enjoy it. Nice touch that they gave your daughter something too, it's those sort of things that sweeten the deal.

Looking forward to seeing how you get on with it.

Have a great weekend with it!

Cheers guys! Over the moon with it, love the colour and have always loved the styling if the car.
Only covered 50 miles so far and it's great! Gear stick is a little notchy but I'm sure it will bed in (or I'll get used to it). Having to adjust my braking as they are so immediate compared to the ones on the A4 after 14k
