2013 Audi S3

Reading Audi have an s3 saloon in misano red if anyone is interested. looks really nice - sort of like a modern take on the old rs4 shape. I nearly did order one but the rear headroom killed that idea - as if you are 6ft your head will be jammed against the roof

What mileage did people's S3's have on collection? Mine had 28, which seemed a bit high and I questioned it, but was told there's extra testing done at the factory on S/RS models. Seemed rubbish to me, but I wasn't in a position to argue. Trip 2 figures exactly match the delivery mileage, so I believe the odometer hasn't been zeroed at any point

like a kid in a sweet shop I forgot to check but im sure mine was near 50

I collected both mine on 11, I guessed the P.D.I check had a set route and had to be a set distance hence the similar mileage. Obviously not though!

Any further thoughts or info trs888?

Sorry I'm having problems with my bt infinity at the mo. Been off since Friday and relying on sporadic iPhone connection!
I'll ask my friend the painter tomorrow for you. Not personally used chips away before. I text him just after you asked the question earlier but he didn't reply.

Chips away and any repair for that matter depends on the quality of the operative. Used chips away for a bumper repair on wife's Metallic Black Golf Gti in 2002. Repair was aweful!

Ok. He said that stone chip repair and paint the bonnet he would charge around £150. That's for a golf mk5 size bonnet. I would say depending on paint cost and the s3 has a bit bigger bonnet than the golf I would say £180.

He used to work at reg vardy and has worked on high end cars like Ferrari, Aston martins, bentleys etc.

I've used him for about 10 years now and have always been happy with his work.

Maybe someone similar down South would cost a but more tho.

He's not the cheapest or most expensive but somewhere in the middle and is somewhat of a perfectionist.

So my detailer should be able to offer a reasonable all in price if he is to undertake a full detail anyway then?

That's probably your best option.
They will probably work with body shops tho who they get things done regularly so should offer a better deal for you. Best to ask a few maybe ask for photos.
At the end of the day you get the car back from the detailer and they will spot problems you or I wouldn't normally notice so it's like an extra level of quality control.

Don't think a detail will fix chips. Unless there's a specialist who does but not that I've heard of. Doesn't mean they don't exist tho. Best to ask a few detailers.

My detailer offers any paintwork rectification undertaken by their recommended paintshop so rather then send the car here and there I would let him do the job lot.

I have spoken to him and he seems very professional.

They look very good on that, S3's should come with 19's from factory, it just looks better proportioned.

Am I imagining things or was someone about to collect a Sepang Sportback at the weekend? If so, pics please...

Those are the best looking rims on the S3 if you ask me, but since i almost must pay for the Magnetic Ride thats not standard here in Sweden it would just be to expensive, and we talked about it here at home and we rather go down to MTM in Germany and improve the performance of the car.

Here in Australia, those rims comes part of what they call the S Performance Pack, you get 19" rims, B&O, magnetic ride, sports seats, LED lights and painted red callipers - with the sedan only (19" rims).

I think those were the first ones I saw on one of these back when it was unveiled.

Nice wheels, but remind me too much on the Vauxhall VXR wheels of the time...

Chaps, a question...anyone know what the top speed of an S3 is without the limiter? 160, 165?

If you are driving say on the motorway in Eco mode and you want to quickly switch to dynamic what's the way to do it?

I seem to remember the drive select button on the dash during my test drive. Can you set it to default with one press?

Lads - finally finalising my S3 spec with Bexley Audi tomorrow.

I am still deliberating on either LED Lights or Sports Seats - which one would you go for and why? Also with the Sports Seats is there quilting offered on the rear seats at all or is it only on the fronts??

Also - anyone have any views on the mono pur option?? Any good??

I specced a lot of things but the sports seats I didn't bother with and the standard ones are fine - I guess the sports seats come into their own on a race track, however a colleague has an rs3 and I struggled to get into the seats in his car, lol

mono pur - I just didn't see the point, so didn't bother

I saw a car with the supersports seats but they looked and felt tacky

i have the super sport seats and the LEDs. both excellent.

the seats are an extremely luxurious seat, not sport seat. they are the most comfortable seat i've ever sat in a car but they are not heavily bolstered.

the LEDs are incredible too - never seen road signs light up so bright and the beam is fantastic. hard to describe but both options worth ticking !
