Just wondered if anybody on here has ever experienced this, i just bought an 06 2.0 tdi s line a3 on 87k miles, very pleased with the car and perhaps im just worrying myself over nothing but sometimes when the car is stationary and the engine is idling there seems to be a very slight judder, only very little you have to sit dead still in the seat to notice it. Perhaps the dual mass? Or maybe even an engine mount on its way out or something? It stops when i rev the car slightly i think (its that hard to notice). It almost feels like something is unbalanced slightly. If anybody could let me know if they have experienced this and what they did to resolve it or if its nothing to worry about please could you let me know.

cheers

I think it's quite a common thing in the 2.0tdi's as mine does the same mate and I've read that a good few people on here have experienced the same.

+1

I have the same on my '06 2.0 tdi S-line, once you realise you cant stop noticing!

Ohh right what mileage are yours on guys?

I have a 2.0 tdi sline a3 56 plate I also have this problem the car has done 67 k iv already had a new dual mass clutch and flywheel and turbo I was told that the engine mounts were fine by my main dealer I'm sure something isn't right tho

Do you feel a lot of movement from the engine when coming on and off the accelerator ?

The shuddering stops on mine once the clutch is pressed, my mechanic told me the engine mounts are loose (vibrates alot on startup). It's also a 56 plate on 115k

Think yours may be clutch related . Don't see the having the clutch pressed making a difference if it was the mounts.

I'm not a mechanic so I may be wrong.

Mine is exactly the same, I've read a few posts on how people have tried all sorts to stop it but to limited or no benefit.. a lot of people believe it's nothing at all to worry about.. so I won't!

A quick google search will show you just how common this is.

Providing it isn't a clutch or DMF issue, then it is likely to always do it. Some have had good results having the injectors ultrasonically cleaned, however this is neither cheap nor easy to do. There is also a "diesel purge" product that claims similar results without removing the injectors.

However, considering the amount of people with the shuddering, and the fact that the injectors in a PD engine are high precision items that are neither cheap nor easy to replace, I would just put it down to being a characteristic of the car. As changing all 4 will run into 4 figures with garage labour.

This is all assuming its a 140PD, as there a very very few occurrences of these injectors failing, even when they cause the shudder.

If it is a 170, then enquire at your local dealership if there is a recall to be actioned, as they are known for injector issues.
