Hi all,

Whilst I am sure there is lots of info in this category regarding this, I just wondered what everyones experience in terms of fuel economy is like with this engine.

Tried what at the dealers that had done just under 1000 and MPG wasn't that great however know that my 1.6 dramatically improved after the 5000 mile mark.

How many miles do you get per tank and what is your average MPG?

Cheers.

MY average mpg is about 50, but I do like to drive it fairly quickly. If you are careful with it I'm sure you could get more out of it.

I haven't noticed any massive improvement since new yet though, and I've done about 8000 miles.

After a difficult decision I have amended the factory order to a 2.0 TDI now. What do you think of your car in general cemerson? Very much the same spec as I'm ordering....

I love it! Leads of great tech that works really well together. Did some towing for the first time (on roads) yesterday, told me about a failed light straight as soon as I turned the ignition on with the trailer electrics plugged in, the speed camera detection goes into towing mode and lets me know about towing limits with a little trailer symbol, loads of really nice little touches like that, you find them all over the car really.

It's a fantastic engine (even better with the DTUK tuning box I have fitted - 200ps!).

I've covered 18.5k miles and have averaged 49.7mpg. Always in dynamic mode and driving like I stole it!

Engine is fantastic, in gear acceleration is brilliant , flooring it in 2nd or 3rd at 20mph when you get the revs in the sweet spot never fails to give me a huge grin.

Fuel consumption - long term average is around 48mpg all in dynamic mode, drive it hard, and not concerned about fuel consumption, and sure I would get well over 50mpg if I was more light foooted.

Seriously thinking of getting the DTUK tuning box in the summer - squiretolley I would appreciate some more views/details on how you have found this box as heard its a bit rough and might be worth waiting for a 2nd generation version?

Fantastic :)

I have amended the order for the 2.0 TDI over the 1.6....can't wait!

You won't regret it. Picked mine up Sat and it's absolutely perfect for everyday driving with a lot of diesel grunt to keep you grinning. I ****** love it. Came from a Focus 150ps ecobost and the Audi engine is much much much better and sweeter. Had to cane the Focus to enjoy it but this has power really low in the rev's. I guess that's the diff between the petrol and diesel too.

Only covered about 100 miles with it on as my insurance renewed on 1st March and I didn't want to pay an admin fee. I can certainly say that it's not in the slightest bit rough, in fact I think it's marginally smoother believe it not. Third gear is unbelievable! I have the latest software installed, which is good for 200ps apparently. Acceleration reminds me of the old A4 2.0T I had as a loan car a few years ago.

Fuel economy seems better too. On my normal commute I get around 48mpg, but managed 53mpg this evening.

Still tempted by the box as well. I just can't work out if the extra power is worth the shorter life of various parts!

Was wondering about part life as well, but as I only intend to keep the car a max of 3/4 years it should not be an issue on an average 10K miles a year

Build week 14 confirmed. Dealer says should arrive week commencing 28th April.

Looking forward to it...

Hiya 8000 miles covered and Mpg for the life of the car so far is 51.7
That's since september so I havent run it through the warmer summer months. Pretty happy with mpg so far to be honest. I drive fairly fast but not stupid and try to be economical with my driving where I can without being stupid.
Starting to see improvements in mpg at the minute actually, getting 58-60mpg on some 20-30 mile runs

Mine is a year old on 28 March and has done nearly 27,000 miles.

I regularly get 50+ mpg and I do like to enjoy the drive!

Permanently in dynamic mode!
