After getting new tyres put on last Friday, and seeing the additional wear on the inner shoulders of the old ones. I got a four-wheel alignment check done today. The nearest Hunter-equipped place is a BMW motorsport specialist about half a mile from the house. I took it in first thing this morning, and they did it on the spot; it took about an hour and a half. I've got a before and after printout; there was quite a lot in the red zone before, mostly front and rear toe.

Now, everything is in the green zone, bar one exception, the left front camber. It's at -1.30 (correct setting is -1.05 with 0.23 tolerance so it's 0.02 outside maximum tolerance), but front camber is non-adjustable. Short of moving the subframe or fitting adjustable control arms, I'm stuck with it.

Total cost £78.

Had the same sort of outcome on mine, I believe the upper control arm bushes may be worn which is causing the camber to be pushed out of tolerance. Although saying that, 0.02 is barely anything.

I'm kinda thinking that way too. Let's hope we're right.

Similar issues with my 2.0tdi.
Wheel alignment man says its a common problem on the A4,A6 , Passats and now showing up on the A5's.
I am just living with it as it looks a potentially expensive and time consumming issue to sort.

On the Passat B5.5 it is possible to move the subframe to balance up the camber readings across both sides, I presume it's the same on the Audi.
If it's on one side only and quite a bit the car may have found a kerb at some time in the winter which has knocked it out.
1.3 degrees is not excessive and a bit of camber helps turn in. As long as the tyre wear is reasonable I wouldn't worry about it.

Karl.

JDP, You're on lowering springs? This'll introduce a bit of negative camber.

As long as your toe settings are now correct and within tolerance, you should see a heck of a lot less inner shoulder wear :)

This was my 'before' printout. I'd fitted the 45mm H&R springs and B5 perches a few weeks prior..
