buying an audi s3.

Hello guys,

I'm new to audi as i currently own a clio sport 182. I'm looking to purchase an 02 Audi s3. its been remapped by a porsche 911 centre and has a dyno print out of 270 bhp and 300 ftlb torque.
The car has 12 months mot 6 months tax but is a cat c but been repaired well and checked. what sort of money should i be willing to give for this its on 98k also in gun metal grey with 18" BBS LM replica but comes with standard wheels also.

what sort of money should i be giving for this or do you think i should stay clear. Could possibly collecting sunday.

Personally I'd avoid anything cat c unless the damage and repairs are well documented with photos etc. I wouldn't want to pay much over 2k for it as there are plenty of S3s for sale that aren't damaged! It might be genuine and a good buy but just makes the car that bit harder to sell in the future.

You can get 'straight' S3s for under £3k now so depends what the 02 plate S3 is up for or the buyer is wanting.

Mainly it depends on what you are willing to pay and if you think it's worth your money - especially as it's a CAT C.

What other mods have been added? Just a remap and also some rep wheels? Are there any optional extras also added?
E.g. Sunroof, Heated seats, Arm rest etc all helps towards the price tbh.

Also take a good look around the roof rails and arches for any paint bubbling

Personally, I wouldn't be purchasing a Cat C car, there are plenty to be had, that are in good nick and a very decent price too.

Give it a miss mate, at that price, I cant see the justification on a Cat C, unless its an out of this world car!!

If your happy to travel you will find a car with similar mileage easily for that! Definitely steer clear!

£3.5k is straight car territory, no point bothering with cat C bud.

It really is upto you, have a read of what voorhees has posted above in the link; you may not even want a pre facelift if you want the safety factor of ESP as some of the early models do not have it equipt.

£2.5k sounds a very good price IF it is all legit. But sometimes things seem and are too good to be true. Especially when it comes to cars! Lol

Agree with what's already been said. For £3.5k you should be able to find a good later BAM model. Number of owners is important IMHO.

If it helps i paid 3400 for mine from a dealer its 2003 225 bam 129k got a service and 12moth warranty

To be fair I think I'd rather have a late 210 instead of a 225 as 450 quid difference in my insurance price.

£450 thats a lot, managed to get fully comp insurance for £47 a month was over the moon with that only have 2 years no claims

I struck lucky with a local dealer who was looking to clear his forecourt last August before 43 low mileage "part-ex's" arrived from the Ford main dealer down the road.
He had taken my 2001 AMK S3 as part ex against a Pro Drive Impreza and offered me a trade sale at £2900 which I managed to beat down to £2500 as it could do with a wheel refurb and bumper respray. Car has full service history including receipts totalling over £4k for the last 3 years (Services, clutch, DMF, cambelt, water pump tyres etc)

There are definitely bargains to be had out there, personally it was the extensive service history that sold me on this one and I would be inclined to advise that if it has dodgy history, stay well away.
