8V VCDS Mods

Made some changes to my new A3 Saloon, many thanks to Dannykn9 who is a top bloke :) We found the following:

Security Access to modules
--------------------
If certain module is locked, you should go to "Security Access" and enter the proper code:
For [09] Central Electronics the code is 31347 - WORKED
For [03] ABS Brakes the code is 40168 - DID NOT WORK
For [10] Parking aid the code is 71679 - WORKED

[09] CENTRAL ELECTRONICS

Acoustic (Alarm Beep) on Lock - WORKED WITHOUT ISSUE
--------------------
NOTE: Car makes one chirping sound, does not use the horn.
[09] Central Electronics -> Adaptation ->
Acknowledgement Signals - Akustische Rueckmeldung verriegeln (Lock acoustic feedback)
CHANGE: Set each or one of them to Yes

Acoustic (Alarm Beep) on Unlock - WORKED WITHOUT ISSUE

NOTE: Car makes two chirping sounds, does not use the horn.
[09] Central Electronics -> Adaptation ->
Acknowledgement Signals - Akustische Rueckmeldung entriegen (Un-lock acoustic feedback)
CHANGE: Set each or one of them to Yes

Acoustic Lock Menu (only for lock, enable/disable using DIS) - WORKED WITHOUT ISSUE - New Menu Option in the MMI.

Set Oil Temperature on all DIS Menus - WORKED WITHOUT ISSUE

Activation of the lap timer / lap counter in the FIS - WORKED WITHOUT ISSUE

NOTE: Seems to work only with Color Information System

CHANGE: Enable Bit 3

Display the oil temperature gauge in the FIS lap timer - WORKED WITHOUT ISSUE

Disable seatbelt warning - WORKED WITHOUT ISSUE

Change start screen - TESTED BUT NO ADDITIONAL SCREENS WERE AVAILABLE

Indirect TPMS - PART TESTED. CHANGES TO 17 WORKED AND ICON / LAMP SWITCHED ON. UNABLE TO ACCESS 3 TO COMPLETE SETUP.

We also had a go at trying to set the dial illumination on permanently but could not find the setting as all the labels were in German. Has anyone worked this out yet?

I have this set on my 8P Sportback but when I tried it, with the aide of an Audi Master Tech on my wife's A1 we found it could not be done. Mind you the ODB is different on the A1 and needs a full HEX-CON cable.

I would be very interested if any can work this out for the 8V and I'm sure I will miss it when I change.
 
Could really do with an AudiSport 8V VCDS wiki to consolidate these (massive hint to the forum mods)

A1 and A3 (both 8P and 8V) both have the same CAN based system. My friend with a A1 has set his dial illumination on at all times.

PS Its HEX-CAN, not COM.

Any chance you could find out which label your friend used Silky-S3? My German suks :(

There are three interface cables available from Ross-Tech: Micro-CAN, HEX-COM+CAN and HEX-USB+CAN. I only have a Micro-CAN cable which I understand does not work with the A1. According the VCDS Compatibility Chart on their website it looks like my existing Micro-CAN cable will also work with the 8V.

Because I have no HEX-COM+CAN or HEX-USB+CAN cable one of the Audi Master Techs I know offered to come round with his cable and we had a look but could not find a way to change the dial illumination to on at all times. Perhaps you could let me know what settings your friend had to change and if I decide to exchange my current cable for a HEX-COM+CAN or HEX-USB+CAN interface cable I will be able to change both my new A3 and my wife's A1.

Anyone inside the M25 that has access to VCDS that can kindly enable a few mods on my motor? (for some beer tokens of course) lol

There is a sticky with the VCDS user map. You can PM someone close to you.

Hi !
I wonder if someone has any info about VIM(video in motion) with VCDS?
If you go to STG:5F , Funktion 10, there is at the end of list the "test VIM speed threshhold" and "test VIM PIN"
IF WE FIND THE PIN NUMBER then we can put the "speed" at 200 km/h for e.g.
Another matter-question is :if someone knows how to connect a Reverse Video Camera(custom).
I found at the plug of the Navi the pins for video input BUT doesn't work(????) with a regular camera...

Does anyone have the coding steps for activating rear parking sensor visual display? Had a good read of this thread and seen it mentioned but not the coding itself.

Its a tickbox in the Parking module coding, usually module #10 or #76.

I've some how managed to disable one touch on the passenger window. Not sure if I've accidently changed something . can someone check the long code for there's so I can see if I have. Thanks

Got my acoustic alarm on too for locking and unlocking which was pleasant to listen too after having on the 8p which sounds too loud

Will this work with Rear Park Assist? I have a friend with a Skoda and when she puts hers in reverse the screen shows a visualisation of the car.... will this do the same on mine?

can somebody with an S3 V with TPMS fitted post a scan of their car but specifically:-
ABS module
instrument
TPMS module
canbus

Does anyone know how to reset the service indicator? I've followed these instructions:

17-instruments
Adaptation - 10
ESI - Resetting ESI
New value - reset

It accepts it but hasn't cleared the indicator.
 
Hi all,

I also posted this in the VCDS tech forum but thought it might be good to do it here too.

I've looked on the map and not found a user with VCDS for an 8v near Guildford where I live.

I'm willing to travel circa 30 miles to find someone who can sort the following mods for me for suitable compensation:

Optical enabling of rear parking sensors
Steering fog lights
Needle sweep
Audible locking beep
Rear DRL's

I speak fluent German so can help you with any other coding queries you might have yourself.

I think that's to cover his back. Basically means regardless if he can get it to work or not, you still have to pay.

-- To be fair, the internet is littered with coding dongles for 8V VIM now. Quite pricey though!!
 
It'll get cheaper at some point. I'm not even bothered about VIM really. Would be a nice to have if I ever do it.

Hi Veeeight,

im picking up my A3 tomorrow and it only has rear parking sensors,does this mod allow the display screen to show the rear distances to objects.

Yup

Although I think this is a double edged sword - it will be very nice to have the display on the MMI, but - in reality - even with PDC sensors and beeps, surely you should be actually looking in the door mirrors, or even out of the rear window whilst reversing?

I say this with experience - backing out of a supermarket car space - the beeps/display didn't pick up a fast approaching car not willing to stop to let me out of the space, instead choosing to just drive past (as is their right of way) - and I only slamemd the brakes on when catching sight of them whizzing past in the rear view mirror. The beeps hadn't had time to beep/register/

Sometimes, relying on the beeps or MMI display isn't the best thing to do, especially reversing out into the open! There is the danger that with the nice visual representation on the MMI, you could be looking at that instead of out of the windows!

it was more for knowing how close I'm to the garage door lol would never reverse out without looking.i have it on my transit and it just looks funky having a pic instead of the beeping.
