Hi everyone this is my first post on here :)

the emission control light popped up today on my car it's on 136k and spends all it's life on the motorway. I know one glow plug needs replacing but when I took the engine cover off the actuator for what I presume is the inlet manifold is constantly opening and closing I've done a vid to show this

after a short drive the car doesn't seem to have lost any power and so far hasn't gone into limp mode. I'll be getting the car hooked upto a fault code reader tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone had seen this before?

I got a reply on another forum saying it was the plastic on the throttle body collapsed causing the issue. His 2007 lemans did exactly the same thing and he had a video of it doing exactly the same thing.

Do you know riggy and rexy off png/novaload I recognise your user name

I used to go to all the nova meets I had the blue 172. It sounds like a pretty easy fix to change the throttle body and not too expensive. My cars been mapped hop much would it cost to map out the inlet flaps?

found it....

"
[h=2]Audi VW 2.7TDI 3.0TDI Intake Manifold Runner and Intake Runer Manifold Control Fault codes[/h]

Common fualts on Audi A4, A6, A8, Allroad, Q7 2.7TDi 3.0TDI Engines. Even when the mechanical parts are replaced there are instances where the fault codes and orange engine warning light remains. We offer removal of these fault codes from the ECU. Fault codes are usually:
012597 - Intake Manifold Runner Control - P3135 - 001 - Lower Stop not Reached.
004120 - Intake Manifold Runner (Bank 2) - P1018 - 001 - Lower limit not reached."

Thanks for that you're a star. I might get that done before I get any issues with it

Gavin posted it here originally... Link:- his thread/post Link:- His Video

My engine light did come on when throttle was playing up...

Best is to get a VCDS scan done... you maybe able to find a member on here... or get a local garage to do it...

If it is you swirl motor actuators issue... you can do a quick visual check for play... red boxes are the motors...

And recently a poster bought these to attention... Link:- Audi V6 TDi 2.7 & 3.0 Inlet Manifold, Swirl Flap Repair Kit.

Above are about £8-9 per side, part no 059 198 212, ask local Audi Parts dept... the poster in linked thread had engine light on and just removed old popped new links only on... not the follower and his light went away... no coding/VCDS needed...

If you compare the old link arms in image against the new you can see they have a greater area of fitting the follower on the manifolds/motors...

They fit more over the followers as a cup rather than ring...

Just for info the motors are also available separately, made by Siemens VDO.... Link:- VDO Replacement Parts Online Catalog

So you can get motors, links and manifolds depending to what degree fault has happened...

All the info I've seen when the swirl motor links/manifolds fault the EGR/Turbo actuators do not go like your's/gavin's video...

But there can always be new info :)...

Hi I've had the car looked at today the fault codes are as follows

04203 throttle valve stuck or difficult to move p1068 upper limit reached intermittent
05504 throttle actuator bank (bank 1) malfunction p1580 not a plausible signal

ive been quoted £220 including vat fitted with the part coded in so it's getting done Monday

thanks for all the help I appreciate it

How I stumbled across this I do not know, but suffice to say I am ordering two tomorrow. I have been driving my Touareg Altitude around for over six months with the light on and no difference in power or fuel consumption. Reason for this is that the stealer told me that it was £800.00 a side to fix plus the vodka and tonic. No way was I paying that for two little rods.
