Want an A3 8P Cargo Net?

I've seen a few requests for these, so I thought I'd post my findings:

I have a storage bag in my boot for odds & sods I always carry, but fed up with occasional extra items I throw in the boot sliding around on the slippery boot mat, I decided to bite the bullet and buy a cargo net. I couldn't find one specifically for the 8P, so I bought one supposedly for an A4 from e-bay... surprise, surprise, it fits. I think it will also stretch flat across the boot floor, but I haven't tried that yet.

I now have an OEM luggage net to chuck my Golf shoes, air compressor & other bits in. I may even be able to get rid of the saddle bag when I get around to having a sort out.

The one I bought is PN: 8E5 861 869. It has the half height pocket (with rings) & 4 hefty hooks for the corners! Mine also has the little support buttons to help prevent snagging\grazing on the boot carpet, which many don't seem to have.

Hi mate

I followed your helpful advice and bought the genuine Audi cargo net off ebay which arrived today. However, I cant get my brain around the best way to fit it?

I've seen your pictures which essentially folds the net in half and positions it up against the back of the rear seats. I wasn't sure about that so tried a different method; laying it flat across the boot floor, securing the top hooks into the two fixed black metal loops on the side of the floor near to the rear seats. The nearest two front hooks are secured by removing circular blanking lugs in the plastic floor trim located just outside the other two black metal floor loops. This method stretches the net out flat into a single square against the carpet with the pocket section facing upwards in the front half of the boot. Now items can be either quickly slotted inside the pocket OR slid securely under the full netting and pressed firmly against the floor. But I'm still not convinced that's correct.., if indeed there is even a right and a wrong way??

I apologise for the somewhat vague and garbled description but haven't sussed-out yet how to upload pix. However, your further comments and suggestions, and those of anybody else who's fitted this net, would be greatly appreciated.

wouldn't mind the one thats fitted under the parcel shelf are those available separately ?

Hi mate, I still haven't tried mine flat across the boot floor, so I can't really help with how it will fit\look ...what makes you think it's not right?

That's part of the "Storage Pack" factory fit, but I think the parts can be bought and fitted yourself. Try the Stoke Audi sponsors link at the bottom of the Forums page.
 
I read up on here about cargo nets for my 2010 a3 s line black edition and I read that the hook versions wouldn't fit my car, instead I need different ends. Does this sound right? I have been searching eBay daily for nets and all that comes up is the hooked versions!

I didn't do research but took Artimus's advice and bought the one with hooks. The lack of use for the central rings concerns me so perhaps I'll try the upright method shown by Artimus and see which seems to be more appropriate?

Anyway, I've just braved the weather and gone out and taken a picture of the net installed on the floor. Here it is:

You appear to have the same boot fasteners as me so looks like that one might work for me too!

I had been looking for cargo net P/N:
8P0 861 869

I believe the clips for me car are supposed to look like this:

Does anyone have the part number for the one that goes underneath the parcel shelf?

Those "hooks" look really specialised? I can see they would perhaps offer a more secure fixing but still think the net with regular hooks would work for you and do the job.

It's not just a net, you need the fixing bracket, screws & a hook to stop it sagging in the middle when it's loaded. Ask in the Stoke Audi forum mate - they're a main dealer & will know the parts\numbers\avalability required for a retrofit.

you could always test it by putting a paving slab in the pocket & seeing if it keeps it from denting your side panels - let me know the results. :jester:

Hi,
Where have you hooked the metal rings onto? The ones connected by a strap to the middle of the net. Just wondering as I'm about to buy one but want to be sure it'll fit how you have done in your car.

Main reason I'm wary is that your boot seems slightly different to mind, you have a recess on the left which I've not seen on an A3 before.

Hi Mital

The net works fine on my 2011 S3 but you will need the lower black metal looped anchor-point together with the upper plastic moulded hook on the side trim to install it. If your car boot has a different layout then this cargo net may not be suitable. Here's pictures of the lower metal loop and upper hook:

I've now mounted my net upright against the rear seat as originally shown by Artimus which is best for carrying numerous lightweight items. Hope this helps?

Ah brilliant! I have those anchor points and the hooks, I thought the metal rings attached to them but wasn't quite sure. Will now be purchasing a net ASAP.

I finally managed to get the net I needed (the one I posted a pic of with the discs instead of hooks) off of ebay. One less thing to look for.
 
For the 8P you need different fittings for the corners of the net like in the pic above, the hooks dont really work well. They're only like £3 each from Audi, I have the part numbers on an invoice at home ill post them later.

Pictures appear to have gone walkies? Here they are again:

However, while this works, I would still get the lower lower anchor fittings when Muzza80 posts the part numbers as will be more secure.
 
I really need to get one of these for my boot, i think its a good addition to have and stops everything sliding about back there
 
Thinks toy where did you get yours would be useful as the wife always buys bottles of coke from tesco and puts them in the car boot so they just get thrown around and get shook up
 
Guys the part number for the replacement fittings for the nets (the ones with the correct bits that twist lock into the fixings on the later 8p) is 8P0 861 849 01C The price is £2.33 each + VAT and you need 4.

I'm pretty sure this is a revision, the later A3's use these fittings and the older ones use the hooks.

Also the net you are all looking at is actually for the older fittings in as much as when fitting it across the floor on the newer model A3's the fittings on the car are not right in the corners of the boot they're inwards slightly so you need to put the new fittings on the net a bit in from the corners, it's not perfect but does a good job, mine usually sits up folded in half against the rear bench anyway with the pocket at the front for storing stuff.

Reviving a reaaaally old thread here but just wanted to ask... I've seen a net on ebay, it has the metal hooks either side of the net in line with the pocket opening, then the twist lock fixings either side at the bottom, but also twist lock fixings either side on the top flap of the net too. Is that the one you have?

I'm assuming if I just want to use it in the way you have, the top flap would just fold over down the back of the net, and you wouldn't use the twist lock fixing on the top flap, just the ones at the bottom to secure it...

You can change the twist locks for hooks. The parts are available from TPS.
