S3 Wheel colour change - can't decide on a colour!

Thinking of getting my wheels painted professionally in the NY, but struggling to decide on a colour, the silver on them as standard is pretty flat and doesn't give off much of a shine, I was thinking of either gloss black or dark anthracite..? Opinions?

I think the gloss black might go well with my black styling pack on the grill & the dark rear tints, would it be too much, or look a little cheap?

Is the grey/anthracite a better colour, or would it look odd on a silver car?

Nearly half and half so far, any reason for the nay vote on gloss black then? Not sure about the black
Roof too but a wrap might actually look cool especially against the alloys! Hmmmmm

Black wheels need black tires, or at least a polished lip to break it up. I think dark grey (gunmetal/anthracite etc) is the best bet for going darker against silver. You could go for a crackle finish, rather than just plain gloss.

Crackle on the anthracite? considering it more now, as some have said, black requires more maintenance i guess!!! The Company I'm looking at also does satin black as well as gloss & matt. Satin could be an alternative! Waiting to hear back on a price, however looking at pics on FB their work looks top notch!

Yeah, crackle anthracite. Not sure he had crackle finish, but search for Luke1987's A3 when he had the Speedlines on - my favourite wheels, and the colour works perfectly against the silver paint.

before you repaint the wheels, try taking apart the center cap and paint the fingers and body black and keep the rings and tips original chrome. I think this will dress up the wheel and give your spirit a boost. otherwise gunmetal. I might add painting the front and rear spoiler black and just for kicks wrap the roof gloss black

Just as a side note how much would you expect to pay for a professional colour change? Noting the fact they need no "refurb" work as the wheels are kerb & mark free!!

I've booked my S3 wheels in for the 8th January for a refurb and colour change.
I'm going shadow chrome which is powder coated black then painted silver over the top.
In some lights it looks anthracite and others bright silver.
I'm paying £300 for all 4 including repair a slight flat spot on 1 wheel.
That includes him removing them from my car and fit his loan wheels then changing them back 1 week later.
I had my golf done by him too and his work is excellent.

My mate works for platinum alloy wheel solutions and recommended I get mine done in audi carbon, then funnily enough the next day he was doing the same as mine in that colour and sent me a pic!

You should expect a colour change to be pretty much the same as a refurb. Best results will always be a full media blast and chemical strip etc, then repaint/powdercoat the bare wheel. It'll maybe cost you a touch less if the place you use does a deal for not having to do any metal work.
