My 2.0T S-Tronic has just started behaving strangly when the car is trying to idle. I'm not sure if it's linked to the problem, but I had just given it a bit of welly in 2nd and third gear hitting the S-Tronic gear limiter both times, then I noticed when I came to a round about the engine wouldn't idle properly while waiting for a space in the traffic.

I've no idea what I've done, but I'm away from home and have 150 mile trip to make this afternoon.

The car seems to drive ok once going, but just won't idle properly!

Any help appreciated?

Chris

p.s. car has just had a full service at Audi.

Made it home (140 miles) no problems driving, but idle erratic still going between 850 and 1000 rpm when coming to a stand still.

Plan is to get it into the dealer unless someone knows a quick fix!

Since posting my thread I have had time to do a bit more research. Sounds like there are a number of reasons why my car could be behaving like this. All of which are too difficult for me to sort so it booked in with the Stealer for Thursday.

My worry was whether the car would drive differently and I had 140miles to get back home so you can see my concern What's really annoying is the car has been trouble free and it was serviced by Audi the week before last and then this happens on it's first proper run since the service. I very much doubt it's related to the service, but I did mention to them several times that it was very annoying it had happened!

Well my problem was fixed yesterday by my local Audi dealer. It turned out to be a fault with the crankcase breather control valve (what ever that is!) Apparently they can go at any time and my went a few days after a big service. The good news is they only charged me for the part (£54.46) which now comes with 2 years warranty and they even cleaned the dead flies off my bonnet! It will obviously need a better clean as lets face it no Audi dealer is going to give a car a good detailing, but I am happy with their service. 9 out of 10 for Hitchin Audi, they would have had to given me it all for free to score a 10 out of 10.

Good you got it sorted. The part they've replaced is the PCV that a few others suggested. Just called different things!

Sounds like that is short for PCV... Which on your car take 10 mins top to change.

Not sure what Audi charge for the part, but I got mine from VW (as they were closer) for £38, but then it's another £16 for the gasket - which will be the total they charged you. It's 10 mins to change, but still - good not to pay for them to do that!
