hey all finally got round to getting my remap sorted, really looking forward to it now fed up of having a slow car lol! guess im entering the rod lottery anyway so should i go stage 1 or stage 2? their website says to expect a 50bhp increase from stage 1 and 10-15% more from stage 2, i know their rollers are a little optimistic but will stage 2 be worth it or anywhere near their claims?

the mods on my car better suit their stage 2 to map, infact exactly except the relentless mani... will i end up with a slipping clutch? at 10% of say 255 from the remap i'll be looking at 280ish without taking the mani into consideration, its had a new clutch in 2011 and has been off the road since then really. the stage 1 is 299 quid then the stage 2 is listed at 120 but maybe i'll get a discount is i go straight for that. any opinions?

Silly not to go stage2 really.

In your sig, it says badger 5 remap? Also, with the Saab injectors, I'm not sure AmD stage2 will support your mods?

Much better to steer clear of a generic AMD map and go for a fully custom map tailored for your. Aim for 270bhp/275.

Reliability>power.

And a sport cat.

On an unforged 147K APY.

Good on him I say.

All I will say is.. I had a play with a stage 2 focus ST from AMD. And I won. And I was stage 1. No lie. - I'm actually serious.

Haha, is this guy for real, look at his sig. 850cc injectors, a b5 map, and he wants to go to amd

it says 'planned soon' you monkey lol, aint driving that far im only 20 min from amd, 3/4 hours from bill! im in kent so no point going custom till i get all the mods together just longing for more speed than a standard civic type r, my last few modes of transport were all alot faster for example in the last 6 years ive had 2x yamaha r1's, a ktm superduke, cbr 600, vfr400, mk1 golf vr6, subaru impreza sti v3 stage 1(350bhp), and an mr2 turbo....

if it goes bang it does lol, its a toy i dont use it for work so why not enter the lottery! i'll rebuild it when/if it does!-) it had zero mods when i bought it!

Go stage1 then if plans are to follow. I would personally just sort out any underlying issues, the go with your planned mods and straight to B5 for a custom map!

Well they said they'll map it to the mods so it will be stage 2 anyway, I'll post back. With results this afternoon!-)

Stage tuning is for gays.

Just wanted to put that out there.

All this "stage" guff just confuses the issue.

Either you have a "generic" map which is simply flashed onto the ecu and not optimised for your particular car.

OR

You have a "custom" or "live" map which is tailored to you car, mods and requirements, either on a rolling road or on the road.

get a custom map - it's the best way :)

hey ppl, well it mapped to amd's stage 2 but they didnt give me a print out, like a muppet when my turbo elbow split i replaced it with an ebay silicone jobbie so its leaking with the new boost! they've ordered me a forge one and i have another visit to them next week... then they'll give it the final rr, they said its pointless atm as it will be down on what it will make...

already feels great though, although i never pushed it hard i could see the boost spike to 1.8 bar then settle to 1.5 and she feels like a different car!-) i had a new bmw come speeding up behind me then floored it to go round me on the way home on the m2, as he passed i dropped it too 4th caught straight up and passed before letting off again with a chuckle to myself, i then saw it was a 320 coupe so not much of a conquest but the twenty something guy gave a nod as he passed again at a more sensible speed lol.

just get saving for some rods and fmic now... the only reason i wanted sabb 850 injectors is cause i read somewhere even on a stage 1 map the s3 ones are on their limit? or is that a loada bull?

S3 injectors max out at around 280ish Bhp like mine.

Did they not tell you to go easy until the boost leak is fixed?

boost leak + foot down = turbo damage if you're unlucky

AMD used to have such a good name, what's happened?

they told me its safe atm but not to go driving really hard until the new hose is on and they can do a few tweaks?
also they said it wasnt leaking until they mapped it, guess the extra boost caused it.

cheers westy, im sure they'll know if it is running lean right? they warned that some s3's need a 4bar fpr but never mentioned anything when i got back and i forgot to ask as i was a bit dissappointed i had no power figure..

yes i have thought this lol, if it goes the stock ones going back on forever lol

1.8 bar peak!!??!!... ouch!!

You had a stage 2 without a front mount? and did they scale the injectors? what are the specs of the injectors? what CC are they? the only info I have found so far suggest they are 30lb or 315cc which are smaller than OE...

1.8bar peak, no FMIC, unknown injectors??... little confused here..

well they said they dont just upload it they do some tweaks for the specific car so its not as cowboy as that.... loving the cowboy walks into the car dealership joke dude pmsl!

you guys a scareing me now lol, their stage 3 is a front mount map so im guessing its more of a 1.5... they said it was safe, should i get them to knock the boost back a bit when it goes back?

also my injectors are oe?? confused?

Not as confused as your signature then...

1999 apy s3 142000, leather and blue alcantara interior, silver, xenons, 18 inch dare bbs lm replica's with nangkang ns2's, s2000 filter, forge dv, relentless v3 manifold, relentless 3inch downpipe and 200 cell sports cat, scorpion cat back system, badger 5 v3 tip, new clutch, new audi brakes all round, new audi rear arb and drop links.
planned soon, toyosport b spec intercooler, sabb 850cc injectors, badger 5 remap.

Is any of the above correct?...

EDIT... ok... I can see the 'planned soon' bit which just merges with your list of mods... this makes more sense (unlike your signature...)..

In which case ignore my comments on the injectors but the rest stands... 1.8bar!!! the ECU can't see above 1.5bar so this sounds like a massive overshoot and boost control issues...

lol no probs!-) should i get them to knock the boost back a bit when i go back? my mates 1.8t ko3s is on a stage 2 amd map at 208bhp and 247lbs of torque on just a single side mount, guess our intake temperatures will be sky high?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

How did I miss this!

This is awesome Friday night reading ......

In answer to your question o.p, you should go back, get them to remove the map, give you your money back and go to r tech or badger 5 :) job done.

Yep...IAT's will be through the roof... EGT's too at that level of boost... not that you can log them on the APY they just run real rich as std..

This is the most confusing thread I've ever read, I now need an asprin.

Should make a nice round 300 there though so you'll be happy ;)

right so, in need of a front mount and ask amd to knock the boost back a bit and sort the boost spike, as i wrote he said some tweeks would be made and mentioned boost aswell... its going back in a week remember! i take what most here say with a pinch of salt unless its tuffty or bill and they have me thinking...

superkarl cant you read mate, yes it said 850cc in my signiture 'planned' i put it there after reading a post on another forum about uprating injectors and what people were using ect, not once having mentioned it here you and clap are really helping to derail... thanks! so will you and 'genital klap' just drop it lol, or use the vast knowledge you've somehow acquired to say something constructive...

i came here to get some advice, has anyone else got an amd stage 2 s3? if so whats your boost doing? the manifold and tip are the only mods surplus to requirements for their stage 2 map so they could be affecting boost right? also it settles at 1.5 quickly so thats less than 22psi which isnt that extreme right... they told me that 22psi is what their stage 2 runs and im sure extensive research has been done and they havent said a front mount is needed!? are amd completely useless then? thats what your saying? they sponsor the site right?? little let down by my experience so far and i'll bring all this up when im back there...

im gonna make this map work so only constructive

Sorry mate but you really should have come here for advice before you went to AMD because nobody here would have advised you to go there. If I was you I'd go back to AMD next week and just say you're not happy and would like a refund and your ECU set back to a stock map. Then book in to see Badger 5 or RTech, whichever one you prefer to drive too.

With B5 and RTech you won't just get a remap and told to come back in a week these guys will give you a full health check, smoke test, advice, answer any questions/concerns you have, dyno your car, and ensure everything is safe and running well before you leave.
