Hi Guys,
Not posted in a while, anyway car is now on 142K ( Original Clutch & Flywheel) but it has started to slip, Got quoted Yesterday from local Garage to do the job would be £974 which includes Clutch kit, DMF,Oil & the Labour.

Does this sound reasonable?

Also do any of you guys in the surrey area have any Indie's that you would recommend?

Cant remember how much I got the parts for however mines was LUK Clutch and Flywheel, and I got the labour done for £130 or £150 I think.

This was done by my local indy.

My local indy quoted me £560 for the above. Im on 131k think its due soon but no slippage yet...

Can I ask what difference it makes with a 5 or 6 Sp G/Box?

Im thinking of switching to a 6 from a 5 when I change my clutch.

Audi's website shows £749 - but that is just for a clutch change.....add the DMF & i'm sure that price would go upto around £1500

There are a few different clutch kits fitted to the a4 of that vintage...different prices as well. You also need to replace like for like however you can replace sachs with Luk if all components are replaced at the same time. Also some early 5 speed gearboxes were 01E but in different casings and they use a alloy spacer between the box and engine- also later 01E were also 6 speed ? All add to confusion...
Audi will rape you dry for a clutch change, most independents will charge £250 + VAT for a clutch and DMF change...
