Daveotto - The Countdown Begins

Cool, a great chill out tune (even if not my normal cup of tea) to start my countdown and three weeks holidays before the nail biting final 2 weeks.

Off on holiday tomorrow but will be checking back regularly to make sure I am not missing out on any of the countdown excitement.

Missed this in the rush to get away......thanks

Been emailing dealer while away on holiday and now 100% confirmed as 10.00am collection on the 1st (catluyna you have beat me by a good few hours - in Turkey btw).

Got a fair px from the dealer as part of the email discussion without any hassle, so all sorted. Feel like its the run up to Christmas although it's over 40c here, just need a new car advent calendar to count the days down.

praise where praise is due, Wimbledon Audi have been fabulous throughout, would highly recommend and hope the great service carries through to collection day.

But the chocolate advent calendar would melt where you are ;)

I have got myself a countdown app ha ha

But it's actually 25 days 4 hours and 47 mins till I get to sit in the car and play with it just can't drive it away till midnight. Not that I'm counting though! ;)

Sorry Vertigo but I stole one of your pics for my countdown.

Enjoy your holiday, not long now :D

As I sit on the villa veranda with a freshly squeezed orange juice doing what has become a holiday daily ritual early morning checking of the ASN forum I think I should be chilled and relaxed after nearly 2 weeks holiday, which I am. I have just read Sportbackmark's latest countdown post who has seen several new A3's in the last couple of weeks and realise that I have only seen 2 Audis whilst on holiday, a single A1 and a Q7.

But then I think 21 days to go, in fact so exactly that in exactly 21 days to the minute I will be setting off for the dealer, I am more excited than an excited thing

Ahh Dave, I'm sure you will get more excited as your countdown continues, waiting for that grin to appear as collection day approaches (as will I). But why do we all look out for Audis on the road? I never did before I ordered.......but I guess deep down we all know the answer, funny old species is the human race!

Same position as me on both counts. Just need to sell my puma. Dave, maybe you can start some interesting discussion threads, or do you need to lie horizontal on a Lilo for inspiration?

My car is still in Germany as of this morning so no reg for me yet, and still have to phone the insurance company... may do that tomorrow

Cemerson - going to be tight for 1st September for you, fingers crossed.

Audi insurance girl said they had been very busy in last couple of days with 1st September 7 days insurance's, will post separate thread on something she mentioned which might be worth getting people's views with.

Dealer seems pretty confident. It has either gone over today, or will be imminently, and the dealer is fairly busy so wouldn't have thought it would be long to wait for a transporter-full going there. Still more than 2 weeks yet!

Don't think I'll need the 7 day insurance - probably just phone my insurers tomorrow and let them know I'm getting a new car, and just get covered like that. On the other hand it could save a lot of faff just using the 7 days thing (which they need to tax it I think) if they are doing all the legwork and I can just sort out my own insurance during that week.

Still over 2 weeks to go, should be ok for 1 sept.
you need insurance to get the tax. I got Audi to quote for 12 months, but also got my current insurers to give me a quote ( which coincidentally runs out at end of August). After their intial quotes, they both came back with substantial discounts, don't really understand that, but am happy with both figures.

That's a great track, have got the original CD album somewhere.

If i remember correctly this was a one and only album and had a couple of Uk hits from it. Think he was ex US army and bought himself out to take up a music career but quickly disappeared off the funk/soul scene in the early 90's

I quite like that track myself. Glad you liked. :) x

Right so thats that then, exactly 10 days to go, balance for the car has been paid, done this early as my sales rep is away for a few days and did not want any last minute hiccups.

1.SD card loaded and organised - check
2. Key rings bought - check
3. tax disc holder bought - check
4. Chrome tyre valve caps bought - check (still not sure if i will fit them)
5. Can I find someone to buy my existing car in last 2 weeks of August - check (got a good dealer Px and hoping he will throw in a couple of freebies such sa mats and autoglym lifeshine kit on the day as they got a pretty good deal on my existing car)
6. Service light did not surface on the existing car and DIS giving thousands of miles until service/oil change - check

Only one minor blemish in the preparations.... was praying that no one else in the work car park also has a 63 plate on show on 2nd September, want to be centre of attention for at least a day...drove into car park yesterday to be conformted by a new shiny A6 and in Daytona Grey on a pvt plate (owner, who i do not know, looked like he had a pretty big grin on his face and was doing that who is looking at me and my car thing) - mine will be newer and shiner in a week or so's time so not that much to compalin about I suppose.

and only 1 item on my check list not sorted

How the hell can I remove the sun blind sticker without leaving unsightly marks - has anyone actually tried this yet? Not sure it is possible becuase i think these are now heat sealed in.

back to counting the hours unless anyone can think of something i have forgotton

I'm not sure I'll be too bothered about the sun visor sticker really. They are there on all cars these days, there is the potential to cause much more damage removing it. I still like the suggestion of ordering the sun visor for a LHD car and fitting that instead if you are desperate though.

Indeed. I assumed I'd be bothered by it, until a few days ago, when I realized my current car has it too.

I never really noticed it before.

You have forgotten photo location ....

Myself and A3SportbackMark are planning on meeting at a golf club close to the M25/M4 intersection - Richings Park Golf Club (www.richingspark.co.uk) at around 11.45 - 12.00 on th 1st after we have collected our cars.

If anyone else wants to join us you are more than welcome. Not sure we will hang around for long as i am sure we will want to get back to friends and family but will be a good quick opportunity for photo or two.

Still on for a larger meet later in September, nominally, the wek after on the 8th, but waiting for my sons football fixture list to turn up to confirm my availability.
