Just after a little advice from those who have made use of windscreen cover.

Unfortunatley on my way back from work, a lorry flicked up a little stone which, at first created a small chip - but over the course of the rest of the journey turned into a crack which is now massive - about 15" in length.

Im guessing the winscreen is probably beyond repair because of the crack.

My insurance is comprehensive, with a windscreen excess of £80.

As I am already paying just over £2000 for insurance, I was wondering if a windscreen claim would increase my premium next year?
Also, when asked "Any claims within the past 5 years" - would I have to disclose a windscreen claim?

If it may have a negative effect, I will try and find a 2nd hand screen from a breakers.

Many thanks!

Yes you need to declare and windscreen claim and mine has NEVER increased the premium with hundreds of quotes made

no it will go as a claim but doesnt affect your no claims or next years price

i have never told them about a screen claim i did once ask if they needed that info and they said no.

Nope had mine replaced through autoglass, cost £75 iirc, doesn't affect no claims. Just ring autoglass don't even have to ring your insurers. That's with direct line

My current insurer didn't need me to claim but my past one when I sent my PofNCB with the claim on charged me a admin fee to relist my policy with the claim so always worth telling them.

Many thanks guys,
My insurer stated I go through autoglass direct - all booked now.

give the car a good check b4 they start work and then after before you drive away or he leaves

if you dont and they scratch or break the plastics they wont replace

Also if you have rain/light sensers in the car you'll have to let them know because they need a special screen.
I had mine changed last week and they brought the wrong one, without sensers so had too re-book.
Mines was £60 from AutoGlass. Best of luck.

Yeah - I was thinking of removing the wipers and scuttle plastics before the bloke turns up to make life a little easier.

my mate's fiesta had to have a windscreen replaced a few weeks back, he paid autoglass 65pound to get it replaced and he doesnt have to claim anything or tell them about it (with admiral) since then he's had a replacement battery, and 2 days ago the ecu i think he said, has gone faulty so ford have said he needs a new one for 400pound

I have some scratches on my side windows as well as a chipped windscreen. Don't suppose I could get away with paying a single excess fee?

Ive had mine replaced and a stonechip repaired too, I didnt mention any claims when I had my renewal as i didnt think they counted, but when I had the paperwork come through, there were a couple of claims listed and it didnt say what the claims were, so I called up to query it and they said it was for the windscreen, but doesn't affect my premium or no claims, they just have it on there for their records.
