Hi,

So having acquired a B7 2005 3L TDI - I knew that a couple of the parking sensors were not working.

Would anyone know the correct part numbers for them (in fact is there a online site which has this info as reference ?) - the front outer and rear sensors come unpainted - and the inner ones as black or grey.

Does anyone know if they are physically the same sensor (with the inner fronts just being made to match the grey/black front)

I have been quoted £95 for the rears unpainted or 111 for the front inner (ouch) - so woudl like to see if I can use any of the many on sale on ebay as possible cheaper fix.

Cheers

Matt

Ideally it needs diagnosing 1st to ascertain where the fault is as it could be loom, sensor or even module.

I can get the sensors & paint for you exactly to your code, depending where you are, then fit, they are different shape connector end afaik, as got some for an A4 cab recently, PM if you'd like us to get it fixed for you.

How do u know if some of them ain't working? Just get someone to wave In front of the sensor or something? Wouldn't mind finding out if any of mine are broken

There's the old buzzing sensor way with your ear up to the sensor that I never rely on, but if you want peace of mind, of course stand in front of them, but get vcds on the module to do some logs/tests.

You'll know if any of the sensors are not working properly; there's a warning bleep.

(When in doubt, read the owner's manual.)

I don't know if my aircon works either, it was re-gassed last year but its far too Warm. Wouldn't mind connecting my mobile to the rnse as there's a telephone bit but I'm just too lazy to read the book lol I might have a little look in there as I need to buy a 1litre bottle of oil to store in the boot but don't have a clue what grade I need

Simple job to see which ones work. Turn car on (not engine, just power), press the parking sensor button. Go to each sensor and put your finger on it. you will hear fast clicking noises. Putting your finger gently on the end will help you feel it too. The ones that dont do anything are fried. I found one working on my rear when testing - the others failed, and one failed on the front. Swapped them round (now have a black on in the middle unfortunatly) which took 30 mins getting the bumpers off. the part number is on them. they are all the same ones. Check ebay as that was the cheapest place i could find. got 4 for £75.
