Hi,
First ill apologise for yet another post on clutches.

My car will be getting stage 1 software soon so i know a clutch will be on the horizon,
After reading a few threads on here i think im set on the Sachs with OEM dmf, as i dont plan to go further than 2+.

Who / wheres the best place price wise to get this setup?

Hi There i bought the LOBA stage 2 clutch for GNJ Motorsport.

Im currently stock but will be going to revo Stage 2+ in August and the clutch is good for that :)
Cheers Ryan, just apprehensive about the 'chatter' on idle when using a SMF. Its my daily so dont want it sounding chattery on tickover or any extra vibration if possible.

Go for smf mate. You can hardly hear it at all. Well worth the extra money, because it can handle more torque

I also got that kit from GNJmotorsport, currently on/in the car. There isn't much chatter at all. I've had it twice where it's chattered loudly. Dipped clutch, let it back up and it had gone. I definitely recommend the clutch, and Graeme from GNJmotorsport.

What's the peak torque figures reached at stage 2+? I.e is the 550nm Loba clutch enough or is it worthy the extra for 600nm?

550nm is enough for stage 2+. The 600nm is a lot harsher and less feel to the peddle. More chatter.

I was under the impression standard clutch was good for Stage 1?

Your on borrowed time on stage1 for a manual. S-tronic is fine though

Thanks for the replys lads, has anyone got a video of their S3 using the smf kit?
It is tempting due to it being a better kit for similar money, im just thinking of the re-sale etc of the car too.

this is why im not sure if i should buy the loba\sachs clutch, im concerned on resale buyers may be put off by the noise as for me the clutch will be in to stay, ive been undecided which to order for weeks now and still dont know what to do!

I got a quote from AMD Essex of £980 for LOBA and £360 to fit (inc VAT)

Well if anyone's in the wakefield area and wants to come have a listen/feel of the clutch then your welcome to. Don't have a video as of yet.

Keep toying with the idea of coming to take a look at yours djs3 but it's probably around 3hr round trip so I'm a bit reluctant, not sure if I should just take the plunge and buy one, is there any chance you can make a video clip?

I've got a recording before the SMF was fitted and a after. But I'll warn you now, the first video, my exhaust is blowing, but I didn't see the point getting it fixed before the clutch. So if got fixed at the same time. I'll post the video at some point. Need to figure out how to do it on the phone.

thanks so much for posting them vids, i cant really hear anything different from inside the car on the second vid, i only noticed the noise when you took the camera outside but it didnt sound bad at all, im at work so cant hear the vid too well but ill have a better listen when im home and its quiet, also what exhaust is that, it sounds better than mine did with the miltek non res im sure??

Milltek non res decat. It sounds beautiful on a run! The videos don't do it justice but I thought I'd help in any way I can. If you change your mind and want to come have a look just pm me.

Much appreciated mate! Sounds a bit chattery with the bonnet up but apart from that it sounds fine. Did your clutch last long at stage 1 or did u go straight to 2+?

I had 10k at stage1 Revo with a trip around Europe and Nurburgring. Don't do standing starts though, I wait until the clutch isn't engaged before I floor it.

It slipped a tiny but when I put the down pipe on, but that was the last part I needed before stage 2+, and when I had that I couldn't floor it without it slipping right through the rev range.

I had exactly the same, milltek non res decat and I really couldn't get on with the noise, I found it so boomy without a clear exhaust note from inside the car, I bought the resonated section and now it sounds similar to stock, maybe a little louder.

Its dony on the motorway, but I don't go on the motorway that far, plus to stop the drone, you just use more accelerator :D
