1st proper detail of my A3 S-Line!

Had the car few months now , and apart from a quick clean here and there not spent anytime on it.... Until today!

Used all Auto glym ;

Car shampoo conditioner.
super resin polish
extra gloss protection
vinyl rubber care
car glass Polish
wheels clean with good old elbow grease , don't like using anything on them!
used cloth on the wheels that still had some polish on to buff them up a bit.

results below!!! ( and now time for a rest lol )

Presumably you will now put it in the garage (if you have one) and leave it there. If you take it out and drive it all your work will have been wasted in a few minutes of pouring rain.

Personally I prefer driving my A3 to cleaning it. I like my car to be clean but my local car wash does an excellent job and I just finish it off with a leather.

I prefer my car to remain free of swirls, each to there own and all that though.

I spent most of Monday doing mine. It's now coated with gtechniq exo which should make cleaning extremely quick now.

Is this soft enough to not put fine scratches in the lacquer?

I've always used a proper wash mitt on my wheels but the small gaps between spokes means its a bit of a pain on the A3

I guess some of us can manage both. 20k a year is more than enough driving for me and it gives me far more pleasure driving an immaculately clean car.

A colleague at work swears by our local car wash who apparently do a fantastic job. Last time we had some sunshine, her car was parked next to mine as usual and is a very similar colour. It's not even a year old yet and I swear they must use a scouring pad to clean it... never seen so many swirls. Drive down to your local shell garage in the evening and look at your car under those yellow fluorescent lights - it'll make you weep and avoid car washes for the rest of your days.

I've NEVER seen a local car wash clean a car properly, but I'd love to find one to recommend to friends and colleagues who simply can't be bothered to clean their own cars. Maybe you've found a good one.

Come to think of it, I've never seen a main dealer clean a car properly either.

I prefer doing both and if you finish it properly with wax / polish etc every now and agian , the washes in between are a doddle !! Even the rain can keep it clean
