I know almost nothing about it but I'm off to take a look.

The North Korea America war thing, what's everyone thoughts and views on it?

I think hes f''king barking & needs to be taken out by a big sniper, otherwise hes going to be trouble for a long time. He appears to be a lunatic with a video game mentality.

If i lived on the west coast of the US i would be VERY afraid

You only need to look at those curtains to know hes a complete nobber

He is a young man with a lot to prove, and he thinks that playing hard ball is going to raise his popularity with the people.

Basically, he needs a distraction, as things are not going well economically, so leaders sometimes look for a common enemy to focus on and make them the focus of everyone's anger.

I don't think the missiles can reach America, North Korea are just posturing. Almost like the ministry of misinformation.

I think that if there is a war, North Korea are screwed. They are surrounded by countries that have nukes and also the rockets that will reach their target.

if he starts a war im sure it would be over very soon with many countrys against him, USA china japan ect, its just tit for tat at the moment waiting to see who makes the first move.

i fly to florrida in aug with my family hope its not going to cause problems?

The man's a complete nutcase :w00t: - sooner he's "not around" the better - as said above he's got no chance with all the countries around him against him.

Ever seen the film "The Mouse that Roared"?

He will have a little half hearted attempt, lose and then get millions in foreign aid to help rebuild his country.

Just reminds of the horrible wee ******* brat bully who is in your class at school! Hopefully the Chinese will *****slap him down a peg or two and he'll calm down. He has the potential to do a bit of localised damage. The Yanks would love a scrap as the likes of Halleburton and Co. need some more money! hahaha Regime change I think they still call it!

I have been following this with quite a bit of interest over the last few days / weeks.

I think Kimmy Boy is trying to flex his muscles a bit and prove that he's up to the challenge of running a country and then taking on other countries. What we have to remember is that N.Korea employs a massive amount of Propaganda. I think that it's the case that when you tell so many lies you start to believe in them yourself. Check out all the recent pictures of photoshopped hovercraft, fighter jets that are non-flyable and that Fighter Jet footage which turned out just to be a mash up of TopGun clips put together.

I believe that N.Korea have Nuclear capability and the potential for long distance rockets but i don't believe they are fast enough. The US and surrounding countries have very technologically advanced Anti-Missile systems that would just take these rockets out of the sky. Think I read that the US has shipped a Missile Defence System to Seoul this morning as well as Destroyers surrounding the local waters.

Here is a quick infographic about what's going on:

Kim would very quickly regret any show of force as I think he knows that N.Korea would get wiped of the map pretty sharpish.

The below photo really shows the state of N.Korea. This is N.Korea taken from the ISS at night. Just goes to show that there is no electricity allowed at night and how poor the majority of the country really is.

Kim Jong Un would do well to remember what happened to the last two mothers to say they were going to destroy the US, Saddam and Gaddafi.

Kim on a recent fishing trip with fellow members of the Korean Scrabble Club, called "the lads do Flipper".;

The trouble stems from the fact he's a fat kid who was never bullied at school and thinks hes 'beautiful as he is', come on people if there was ever a case for ridiculing fatties this is it!
Besides, noone likely told him that pulling wings off flies was wrong and hes sort of developed the idea

No, think we're safe enough, besides I don't think there's any political stomach for another protracted length of conflict, let me check my gongs

Balkans.......check
Iraq..........check
Afghanistan.......check

Don't want any more, court mounting medals is expensive you know!!!

think same as most of you do, he's just spouting off. trying to look hard to his people.
i do think its time the un put america back in line tho.
theyre like the school yard bully.

There was a North Korean historian on the radio yesterday saying 'IF' he did launch a missile / missiles they'd be shot down mid flight without much effort due to the speed of his missiles and the technology there to destroy it. Then, with the firepower solely from the US coming in the opposite direction it was estimated it would be over in a little less than 15 minutes. He did also say that it is all talk, N.K as threatened for years but it's all hollow.
The pic earlier in the post showing the 'blackout' at night thru lack of electricity just goes to show how 'powerful' they are not.

Is it even a war with America? I thought they were still at war with the South but under some kind of non-aggression agreement. Are they still allied to China as well, I presume the Chinese have distanced themselves somewhat given the general worldwide view on N. Korea.

all war is to do with america, or at least they believe they should be involved, (even illegal ones)
theyre more brainwashed (so called patriotic) than some middle eastern groups.

Nuclear warhead or Nuclear explosion (Chernobyl) represents horrendous consequences for everyone.........
trade winds take care of spreading the problem, no winners here. Pity the poor wretches living in North Korea, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Palestine........ can't we all just get along, collect all the money we spend on arms and feed the world 100 times over...... And then explore space together and 'get the f.ck off this planet' quote from the late great Mr. Bill Hicks, thank you and goodnight:friends:

These North Korean's can come and kick my **** any time, I'll probably go nuclear once they expose my warhead!

this is another thing that raises debate.
who the **** are america to tell who can and can not have weapons.
and why do they make it their business. whilst we obv dont like north koreas government and the guy is a little kid, i cant help feel that the man portrayed to us is an image created by americans, so they can gain allies.
america is the new nazi germany

whats annoying is no one will EVER know the truth behind any of it. Hence why i call BS on most of the medias claims

In my previous job I used to teach what we see going on between the US and North Korea. It's classic Game Theory in action as designed by Thomas Schelling, having nukes is all about deterring action and you have to be tough and show you will use them if pushed. Thats why we were seeing all the tough talk from the US and allies. It's a repeat of the Cuban Missile Crisis and so on that we've seen time and time again. One strategy often used by the US and Soviets was to claim some mental instability or overblown character trait of a leader to keep the other guessing - exactly as we are seeing here. Nukes are a zero sum game there is no winner if they get used.

The US is backing down the tough talk now the highly effective missile screens are in place, they've shifted the balance of power sort of like check in chess. The risk at this stage of the game is to push the opponent too far into a corner and a making a rash decision. It's finely balanced brinkmanship.

Taking on the US with conventional forces is crazy for anyone given their superior technological advantage. That's why we see the enemies of the US switching to and asymmetrical warfare, when one side has a significant advantage in power the opposition finds other ways to fight. This is why we've seen the rise of terrorism and cyber warfare, stealth bombers and traditional forces are as good as powerless against those threats.

Happy to answer any questions on this stuff if you're really interested.

Yeah, is Korea related to the vietnam war or something?

theyre more brainwashed (so called patriotic) than some middle eastern groups.

I think you will find that history proves that they tend to get involved when invited, to help defend a smaller country or when someone else strikes the first blow.
For example, WW1 & 2, invited to the first got attacked by Japan in the second.
Korean war, attacked by the north while supporting peace in the south, only there because of the UN.
Vietnam, commies supported the north , anti commies supported the south, again, to do with UN resolution.
And I don't think I have to explain about some rag heads throwing a couple of planes at 1000's of innocents in New York.

And while America will always support and come out in favour of the small guy who is being picked on, I think you will find that islam led middle eastern groups are responsible for 48 religious based wars,(source Google), many more than America has ever been involved in let alone started.

^^^^^ Here here sidibear, well said mate.
The USA like Russia and China are massive allies for most, good and bad points with all, what you don't get from them is wave after wave of terrorist attacks against unknowing victims.
I would like to see the reaction from the USA ''knockers / haters'' if they had had the unfortunate experience of a terrorist attack against them or family n friends as in 9/11 New York, 7/7 London, Algeria Oil workers, Bali etc etc....
Terrorists / facists will NEVER be defeated but letting them kill and maim innocent men, women and children on a never ending daily basis is not what we or any world leader wants.
